PSY will release his worldwide debut album early next year, around February or March, it was reported on November 7. According to the Yonhap News Agency, PSY said at a press conference in Paris that, “I am planning to release a new worldwide album next February or March.”

He added there will be both a Korean and an English version, as it will mark his official worldwide debut. When asked about his “Gangnam Style” flash mob that took place at the Trocardo Square a few days ago, PSY said, “I saw more than 20,000 fans gather and explode in front of me. It’s my first time to see this many people for a flash mob. It was really emotional.”

He also spoke about his “Gangnam Style” music and its worldwide success, saying, “I usually don’t believe what happens on the Web. I don’t think I’m that popular in France yet. I was really touched by French women singing my song in Korean. Since I’m Korean, I try to keep (my songs) in Korean.

Meanwhile, PSY is scheduled to head to the UK on November 7 and give a special lecture to students at Oxford University.

It'll probably get postponed but still awesome

Guess getting a 2NE1 English album is now completely out of the question :(

Ah well, good for PSY, though I'm worried about how it will pan out. IMO Gangnam Style wasn't his best work, but the world loved it, and I don;t think he'll be able to top it :\

im trying to think of a non-english song that made it big and had a reasonably successful followup and I've got nothing
staaan 7th-Nov-2012 09:52 am (UTC)
ugh please no, gangnam style is an international one-hit wonder if there ever was one. take note from las ketchup and those romanian dudes who sang the numa numa song.
benihime99 7th-Nov-2012 10:05 am (UTC)
Did Las ketchup and O-zone even made it to the US? I thought we didn't let that thing escape Europe
staaan 7th-Nov-2012 10:43 am (UTC)
lol probably not. i know a few americans who know about them but i don't think they were anywhere near as popular as in europe.
turdferguson 7th-Nov-2012 11:04 am (UTC)
the las ketchup song wasn't as big of a hit as gangnam style or macarena
sobaek 7th-Nov-2012 12:02 pm (UTC)
is gangnam style really comparable to the macarena? Like in 20 years time it'll come on at shit discos and every man woman and child will know the dance to it?

really?

I think they meant like Macarena was a global phenomenon back then just like Gangnam Style is right now. Las Ketchup's song was barely known outside of Europe. :S

What Mjspice said

Plus I dont claim to know the future
sobaek 7th-Nov-2012 10:19 pm (UTC)
Lol, I just had no idea it was even that well known, tbh. I hear it every now and again but I didn't think it was really that big of a shit (in the UK/Europe)
mjspice 7th-Nov-2012 01:37 pm (UTC)
Not sure about the Ketchup song but O-zone's Numa-Numa was kinda popular cuz of that overweight dude dancing to it & also cuz it was used to promote Chicken Little.

I was going to make a post about Psy's appearance in Toronto a week ago with fancams (he performed 3 whole songs!), but I got busy with studying.

He mentioned he'll be back in Toronto in January for a real concert..... it's going to get delayed probably. Damn YG.

next year though? well at least he's not kreayshawn, he's an already established artist in south korea but idk if he should wait that long to keep the buzz going. they probably shouldn't expect astronomical levels of success the second time around though.

I hope PSY is on a few English TV shows. Like Alan Carr.
sobaek 7th-Nov-2012 12:39 pm (UTC)
I'll put money on his being on X factor. It would be interesting to see him on Alan Carr/Jonathan Ross/Graham Norton...
benihime99 7th-Nov-2012 12:28 pm (UTC)
Oh my, just heard Psy speaks some french and that's just so damn cute.
goshipgurl 7th-Nov-2012 01:04 pm (UTC)
hes a one-hit wonder tho
elizajet 7th-Nov-2012 01:10 pm (UTC)
He's an incredibly talented and classically trained musician. I only hope that people can embrace something beyond the gimmick and the style of music "Gangnam Style" was.

I don't think he's necessarily he's a one-hit wonder, he's FAR more talented than the Ketchup twins or whatever, it's all up to whether people can connect to his music, and I have a bit of doubt considering his work before "GS".

That was the question my friends asked !
But really doubt how this album will be successful. Especially since it's coming a long time after the buzz... We'll see.
I just hope it won't mess up to much YG's plans for other artists :(
benihime99 7th-Nov-2012 01:33 pm (UTC)
I'm starting to think YG wil have lil' to say about this album
Seems his american label might be doing most of the work and I don't know if I want that tbh
gathyou 7th-Nov-2012 03:31 pm (UTC)
Outch yes, thinking like that... I'm not sure I want it as well.
mjspice 7th-Nov-2012 01:35 pm (UTC)
