Davichi ditches new label, returns to Core Contents Media to prepare for a blockbuster comeback

Davichi is set to release a blockbuster album in February after throwing away plans to move to a new label and deciding to sign on with their old label CCM again.

In October, reports emerged that the duo were in talks with another label to move their careers away from their old label, Core Contents Media (CCM). However, Davichi is set for a ‘blockbuster’ comeback after announcing that CCM’s president, Kim Gwang-Soo will push for a February comeback.

Davichi had initially intended to sign a new contract with their managers who left CCM to start-up a new company but declined upon reviewing the five year long contract. The duo consulted CCM President Kim Gwang-Soo for advice before deciding to remain with CCM.

The vocal group is known in the industry for being priced the best to perform at events. Davichi is able to perform up at least 10 events for the price of 100 million – 150 million won (~ $90,000 – $138,000 USD). Core Contents Media have commonly ranked first and second places on the singles chart with Davichi and T-ara able to make impressive CD sales.

The signing with CCM again has put their old managers’ new label in a difficult situation. The new label was lost almost $4.8 million in investments, including $3.7 million investment from a Japanese firm.

that's my only takeaway from this, (I can't really comment on KKS since I don't know enough about him) I feel so bad for the managers ugh smh

you are dumb, you are really dumb, for real.
sadistic_dance 12th-Nov-2012 02:04 am (UTC)
Not really. They've never had a problem with CCM before. Sucks they KKS'd their managers though.

Girls... I love you but that is not cool. I feel bad for their former managers...
lysblack 11th-Nov-2012 07:58 pm (UTC)

i wouldn't be surprised if kks manipulated them to stay.
anathema_switch 11th-Nov-2012 08:03 pm (UTC)
Damn, I feel bad for their former managers. But if they've just lost investments and have no other artists/obligations hopefully they won't have any debt and can just quietly go do something else...
vagueclarity 11th-Nov-2012 08:08 pm (UTC)
i feel like there's more to this story than what we're being told :/
pumpkinskin 11th-Nov-2012 09:04 pm (UTC)
Yeah, especially since this is KKS we are talking about. He's really possessive of his artists.
toshi830 11th-Nov-2012 08:14 pm (UTC)
I feel really bad for those managers... and god damn it when I thought you finally were free from KKS idiocy, you just crush my hopes with the worst news.
the_erotomanic 11th-Nov-2012 08:21 pm (UTC)
well, they were doing well in ccm, so maybe it's not really in their best interest to leave?

asnindie 11th-Nov-2012 10:44 pm (UTC)
KKS either threw money at them or seriously threatened them, whatever he did worked.
soramai 11th-Nov-2012 11:02 pm (UTC)
Why did they stay? I want to know the real story.
And their former managers lost a lot, damn!
ashiva 11th-Nov-2012 11:41 pm (UTC)
Wow they screwed up their managers. Anyhow if they wanted security they should have signed with some other established company like LOEN instead of staying with CCM. I bet KKS blackmailed them to stay. That guy is one shady motherfucker.
justhyuu 12th-Nov-2012 01:26 am (UTC)
look at your choices, girls
sadistic_dance 12th-Nov-2012 02:06 am (UTC)
Why would they leave anyway? For bad publicity that not many people care about since T-ara's remix album is doing well. They kind of don't have a reason to leave.

Also this means more T-ara+Davichi collaborations and that's all I really wanted.
b1gay4 12th-Nov-2012 02:18 am (UTC)
lmfao they r dumb af
pikapika217 12th-Nov-2012 02:21 am (UTC)
CCM is creepy as fuck. WHY go back?
jlie_ly 12th-Nov-2012 05:30 am (UTC)
maybe KKS threatened them? :-ss
phililen3 12th-Nov-2012 07:16 am (UTC)
This is just not on... Wow.... To do that to someone, especially after that kind of investment...
soft_daisy 12th-Nov-2012 07:47 am (UTC)
this is the most ridiculous thing i have heard all day.

were they actually doing that well at ccm? i've always felt they could do better with such talent.

devilsatin 12th-Nov-2012 03:33 pm (UTC)
yes, they consistently release some of the best selling songs of the year
soft_daisy 13th-Nov-2012 02:39 am (UTC)
I know their songs are good. CCM has always done a good job of giving their artists decent songs (ie, mainly I refer to T-ara and Davichi), but what I mean is they could get more promotions with a different company and be bigger/more popular...something like IU but a different age group. Best selling songs is great and it does show that the public likes their songs, but don't they earn more from commericals, physical sales, and such?

But anyways, everyone knows you're a huge fan of CCM, so if this is just about defending the company, you don't have to bother.
devilsatin 13th-Nov-2012 02:49 am (UTC)
Uh, I like T-ara but I didn't realize that made me a CCM stan...

Anyway Davichi is pretty much as popular as a group like Davichi could be. They hold their own concerts, Minkyung gets a good amount of commercials and acting, while Haeri has her musicals and such, etc. They're actually promoted and handled pretty well, my only complaint is that they don't release often enough and I've been waiting for a second full length album forever lol. They aren't an idol group and they're nothing like IU (an idol) so I don't see why they'd ever be marketed or promoted in the same ways as an idol.

ahhh, okay, fair enough and I agree about them not releasing often enough--then I can understand why they might choose to stay.

lol, true
supplanter 16th-Nov-2012 05:43 am (UTC)
Does Davichi do a lot of soundtrack work for dramas? If those are primarily mnet dramas, I guess that could have been jeopardized if they'd left....
anconeous 12th-Nov-2012 09:32 am (UTC)
I feel bad for their managers losing all that money! :(
