SNSD RELEASING SOMETHING NEW BEFORE THE END OF THE WORLD??????

On December 20th, SM Entertainment and Girls’ Generation released a teaser image through their official Twitter accounts, SMTOWN GLOBAL and Girls Generation. The text on the emblem reads, “소녀시대 2013″, with the upcoming date and time, “2012. 12. 21 10 A.M.”, underneath it. The flowers surrounding Girls’ Generation’s name symbolizes South Korea’s national flower, rose of sharon. No further details have been released, but SM Entertainment is stirring up early excitement for fans with this mysterious picture.

Girls’ Generation is rumored to have a comeback in January of 2013 with a full length Korean album. MBC is also preparing a comeback broadcast for Girls’ Generation. It will be an independently organized show apart from their music program, “Show! Music Core”.

I was wondering when this article would finally get posted XD Though I remember reading somewhere that they will be releasing a single on that date that is going to be a remake of one of their older songs o.O I don't know if they mean one of their releases or one of the songs off their previous albums =/

I hope we get a new video with this as well!!! Along with more info on their actual comeback, some teaser pics and of course an audio preview!!! XD

In other breaking news, the Mayans didn't predict the end of the world...They predicted the return of the 9 goddesses known as Girls' Generation who will slay the kpop world once again ^___^ Global Generation or Girls' Revolution? Take your pic lol ;)

[Update]: Latest reports are suggesting that this pre-release coming up is actually a remake of a famous song and that the girls have worked on it years ago, but are now using this chance to reveal the track.

Does that mean a famous Korean song, So Nyuh Shi Dae-style (i.e. the song), or a Korean remake of, say, an English song? I know you don't know, but it could go either way. Now that they're a bit more international in terms of appeal and recognition than they were in 2007/8, it seems like maybe they'd remake an English song (but in Korean, as it's a domestic release), perhaps?

Yup, basically. -___- Their management has reached a new level of wasteful shittiness.

And same here. I love the girls, but it'd be a lot easier to love the group as a whole if SM would give them something good to work with in Korea. A good song and a fierce concept, not one or the other!

crying rofl us exo fans have been dying ever once in a while when a rumour comes out that they're coming back, only to have it delayed again, again, and again. they probably won't be back until febuary or march at this point. given nothing else comes along and delays it some more...

during SM Town TTS joint performs with some of the EXO members but never heard there would be something more than that.

there is some belief SJM might promo with EXO-M but not sure about that.

apparently it's supposed to be a remake of a famous song. and lol why would it be genie or rdr? they already made jpn versions and both songs technically have an English version too. though honestly I would love love love it if the song and concept was anything like genie. i have so many feels for that era.

Genie was an excellent concept and a fantastic song. Actually, Genie is my favourite SNSD song :) However, they all looked so fabulous and badass in RDR *O*

But yeah, I just realized that it's going to be a remake of a famous song, so I'm guessing that they're doing a cover. My only concern is if it's a Korean song or an English one o___O

Watch it be the remake of Duffy's Mercy. They supposed to comeback with that remake song back in late 2008 but scraped it off due to copyright problem (they even filmed an MV!) and cameback with Gee instead.

If SME finally got the copyright for Mercy, that is.

Where did you get that from? Wasn't it Boomerang that they made an MV for and then it was scrapped in favour of Gee? Or were there multiple scrappages? :p

I don't know if they would really suit Mercy...I mean, it could work...but it's odd for them.

Isak once mentioned that SNSD were supposed to remake Mercy for the 2008 comeback but got scrapped because of copyright issue , and it's well-known that the comeback was delayed to early 2009 because of the exact same reason.

And before Gee, I swear I remember one of the backdancers(? or was it staff idr) for the MV hinted that they'll be wearing plaids... (which I assumed has something to do with this SPAO calendar) and then there's this leaked pic from the scrapped MV

idk the pose and outfits look more like Mercy than Boomerang to me lol. Boomerang was probably another option for comeback song *shrug*. Well,Isak is as reliable as you can get... so I guess it'll be Mercy, since it's the only known remake song that they've prepared from long time ago. Unless there are other remake songs we don't know of heh.
