More details on January debut of YG Entertainment’s new girl group

YG Entertainment has announced that its new girl group will be unveiled on January 15th of 2013.

On December 20th, CEO Yang Hyun Suk revealed, “Everything about the new girl group that we’ve prepared for so long will be revealed on January 15th.”

He also shared that the members of the girl group are not yet confirmed, stating, “We’ve recorded each member’s practice sessions over a long period of time, and though it’s not a survival competition, we’ll be eliminating 1-2 revealed members.”

Yang Hyun Suk added, “An existing member who was previously revealed to the public has already left YG’s new girl group,” increasing curiosity about the group’s final members.

YG will be posting videos of the members on its official homepage mid-January, and afterwards, the final members and debut song will be confirmed. The CEO also revealed, “YG’s new girl group will be vastly different than existing girl groups. We’ve decided that the members need to be acknowledged by the public before their debut, and we’re planning a fresh promotional strategy.”

YG Entertainment previously introduced Kim Eun Bi, one of the top six contestants on ‘Superstar K2‘, Yuna Kim from the US auditions of ‘Superstar K‘, Jenny Kim, the second mysterious girl, and a 16-year-old girl of mixed heritage as part of the members of the group.

am I the only blackjack who feels like the rest of the fandom is overreacting? In every YG post all you see is complaining its like really =/ The girls will release the album when its/they are ready.

idk considering YG cut promotions and then said they were going to have a comeback before the end of 2012 and then changed his mind again... i feel like we're justified in being pissed off.

So it sounds like starting from 15th January YG will broadcast something similar to the Big Bang debut documentary?

It must be something else because this doesn't sound like a 'fresh promotional strategy' for the girl group.

Why does YG have to announce that 1-2 girls are going to eliminated :/ that always just sounds so sad... then they're going to be known as the 1-2 girls that were dropped from the group.

Also im sure they won't be out till march. or even summer.....I don't even know.

IA, I always prefer it if the elimination process of a group is done internally. I'm not all that interested in viewing profiles or videos of trainees who we might never see again in the future. Making a public event out of the selection process is kind of cruel to the girls who have to leave and also to the people who liked them but won't see their favorite make it into the final line-up.

It's kind of a cheap way to build up hype for the group's debut but it's not like YG hasn't done it before :(

YG really does have some a-hole Alpha complex doesn't he. To get netizens to crush girls dreams. People choose basic members rather than letting themselves to get to know a member who could turn out to be great. W/e seems like Supearls is nowhere to be found and that's what were keeping me interested in YG debuts.

im pretty excited cos the top three girls are GORGEOUS. like actress-gorgeous. usually groups have filler members but damn the top three seem to be oozing charisma just from the pics. im guessing the bottom two are the "talent" ?

I don't believe anything this guy says at this point before it actually happens. Also if YG had had any sense 2NE1 would have made their comeback at the start of December and ended their promotions at the end of January 'cause now spring is looking really crowded for YG in Korea:
