Yoo Seung Ho to enlist in the military early next year after ‘I Miss You’

Yoo Seung Ho has decided to enlist in the military.

According to his agency, Yoo Seung Ho has decided that ‘I Miss You‘ would be his last project before enlisting.

He will be enlisting in early 2013, and will be enlisting not as an entertainment solider but as a regular solider. Yoo Seung Ho will be 19 next year, and has decided to join his fellow 19-year-olds in enlisting in the military. After ‘I Miss You’ ends, he will be taking a short break before enlisting.

His agency added, “He has a strong will to fulfill his role as a member of Korea’s youth before being an actor. ‘I Miss You’ will be his last project that he can meet viewers with before his enlistment. It will be a meaningful project for him, so he will be working even harder“.

i think it's a good move.

I think lots of people are gonna ugly cry at this news

But i guess it's good get it out of the way and come back with amazing projects for years to come :)
asnindie 21st-Dec-2012 12:20 am (UTC)
Oh he's going to the Army already, but before we weep remembers, post army abs.

I have to give it to him, no drama, no crying, no attention whoring. And I've read he's enlisting in active duty.
bluehachimitsu 21st-Dec-2012 12:25 am (UTC)
WHAT?? Gosh, no!! I'm gonna miss this little cutie =(
After thinking about it, i guess it makes sense from his point of view, and he won't be burdened with this later.. and btw noona is really curious as how much he's gonna change after the next two years!
sandritablue 21st-Dec-2012 12:26 am (UTC)
Wise decision, he already made a name for himself so it's best if gets the army thing out of his way since he's young but still T_______________T
imienazwisko 21st-Dec-2012 12:28 am (UTC)
I think it's a smart move. Once he's done with it, he has that more mature image which would be harder to get if he would go on with his career.

I kinda hate that he's a 93 liner like me, it makes me feel so bad about myself - I haven't achived anything yet and look at this handsome guy asdfghjkl
b1gay4 21st-Dec-2012 12:32 am (UTC)
im actualy cryn..
ashiva 21st-Dec-2012 12:40 am (UTC)
Smart move. He'll be still young when coming back and doesn't have to feel weird old person while in the army like those other celebs who postpone it as long as they can.
yingmoon26 21st-Dec-2012 12:42 am (UTC)
Wow he is going in quite early compared to most celebrities who delay delay and delay. Everyone will be awaiting for him to come back grown up and chiseled...as we do with every other male actor going in hahahahahaha
fantaesticbaby 21st-Dec-2012 12:45 am (UTC)
I'm glad the mandatory service is being shortened, but I still think that mandatory military service is wrong.
asth77 21st-Dec-2012 07:37 am (UTC)
but S/N K are in a war

Idk if that's so wrong. If you just think that it's wrong just because it's long, I guess you don't get the point of being in war w/ another country
but if you're actually against this war (if you think they should do everything to be in peace w/ N/K instead of preparing to go to war).... that's another story...

I'm against mandatory military service because I think it's wrong to force adults to do something that might go against their personal beliefs.
There are plenty of countries who are also currently at war who don't have mandatory military service.
Also, South Korea has a defence pact with the US, so it's not like North Korean soldiers could just march in if they stopped forcing their young men to enlist.
charlotterhys 21st-Dec-2012 12:49 am (UTC)
wtf is with this article. He's going to be TWENTY next year. He's already nineteen. TWENTY, people. In mid-August.

It's a really smart move for him. Especially after the whole 'omg she's nine years older than he is' with the picture from when he was like, fifteen or something can't be helping his career. He's already got a bit of a name, and being 22/23 when he goes into his next show and having already done his service will give him a lot of cred for being an adult actor, I can only imagine.

I need to actually finish God of Study. o.o I'm watching it with my sister and she just acquires emotional problems about finishing series when they start to get into the home stretch and get really emotional. She's such a wet blanket, I swear. >.>
lucyownsjoaquin 21st-Dec-2012 12:52 am (UTC)
did not see this coming, but i believe it's a good move.
rawbabyoctopus 21st-Dec-2012 12:55 am (UTC)
I'm gonna miss him ;A;

But it's a wise thing to do, for him to get this mandatory military service over with this early and while he's still young.

I'll be waiting for the post army body, Seung Ho ya. xP
in_noctem 21st-Dec-2012 01:03 am (UTC)
He looks grown up and rather chiseled as it is. I wonder what he'll look like post army.
twinkystar16 21st-Dec-2012 01:06 am (UTC)
he'll be absolutely glorious
baroness 21st-Dec-2012 01:26 am (UTC)
orenji13 21st-Dec-2012 02:36 am (UTC)
-the image-

and I will finally able to let his child image go and embrace the new one (with the abs)
tsuyoi_hikari 21st-Dec-2012 01:17 am (UTC)

Great Seungho, really great. I thought you gonna give us a good project after 'I Miss You' where you actually playing a satisfying character (not a vulnurable character) but I guess I have to wait another 2 years for that. Great move but I can't believe this is happening. T___T
amenooto 21st-Dec-2012 01:24 am (UTC)
Smart idea. So many other Kactors finally get that breakthrough drama only to have to leave for service 2 secs later.
anconeous 21st-Dec-2012 01:33 am (UTC)
I legit yelled WHAT when I read the title. This noona is not prepared!

Then again, his career is way more stable than a lot of other young actors. He was a super popular child actor and he's transitioned well into adult roles in past couple of years better than most child actors. He knows he'll still be in high demand when he gets back because he's that stable in the industry.

I only wish he gets another drama before enlisting. I Miss You is just so emotionally draining, I stopped watching at episode 5 or 6.
xkat_attackx 21st-Dec-2012 01:40 am (UTC)
Omg,gonna miss him!!! Good decision though, get it done while he's still young and in top shape.
earthequality 21st-Dec-2012 01:41 am (UTC)
Yay for him! He's a great actor and I'm glad he really just wants to go with his age group, as well as get it out of the way. I'd rather do it early than delay. Going to miss his superb acting tho!
shocko_o 21st-Dec-2012 01:57 am (UTC)
So early for an entertainer :(
But ia he can get it out of the way, and he's been around for quite a while for being a child actor and has quite a resume already, about as much as some actors who are enlisting in their late 20's.
linzer_jello 21st-Dec-2012 02:05 am (UTC)
Gawd, he's so pretty
baboboy 21st-Dec-2012 02:22 am (UTC)
smart move ;;
dysphoriia 21st-Dec-2012 02:23 am (UTC)
i was thinking "isn't that young?" thinking he was in his early 20s. wtf only 19!? anyways, it's a good idea to go right after starring in a popular drama. 2 years could go by fast, like for hyunbin.
orenji13 21st-Dec-2012 02:35 am (UTC)
I agree OP.. He is young and already far too long in the industry.

Just imagine when he is out he'll be 22 y.o and will not be stopped.. And he need the break
last_thread 21st-Dec-2012 02:40 am (UTC)
nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu ㅠ.ㅠ

aside: why do i feel like this is the first time i've heard of an entertainer going to the army as soon as possible rather than putting it off as long as possible?

purekpopology 21st-Dec-2012 03:28 am (UTC)
I already thought of this too!!! Can't wait!!
lysblack 21st-Dec-2012 03:25 am (UTC)
this feels so soon, but it is a really smart move.
purekpopology 21st-Dec-2012 03:28 am (UTC)
This sucks for us kdrama fans, buuuut I think it's a great move on his part.

He's going out on top at only 19 years old. He'll come back at 21 years old and still have his entire career ahead of him. This will also give him sometime to mature in terms of his looks a little. He definitely can pass for older than 19 now, but I think the 2 years will really solidify his "adult" look.
the_erotomanic 21st-Dec-2012 03:33 am (UTC)
is he going because he isn't going to college?
twinkystar16 21st-Dec-2012 04:07 am (UTC)
might be one of the reason
jasmineakaiumi 21st-Dec-2012 03:38 am (UTC)
If it's shortened then my boyfriend would be getting out sooner lol :'( Probably only applies to those going in from now on, I guess...
8jj6 21st-Dec-2012 03:50 am (UTC)
A smart move and once he's back, he'll be able to transition even further into adult acting roles.
hai_no_souretsu 21st-Dec-2012 03:51 am (UTC)
I'll miss him, but I think it's wise to enlist now than in 29-30. His career won't be interrupted later.
lonelymoon 21st-Dec-2012 05:44 am (UTC)
Good move. Gives him time to grow into a less awkward 20-something when he gets back.
tiggie0307 21st-Dec-2012 06:19 am (UTC)
The 18 months cut has been in the works for years but, talks about it stopped when NK did something a few years ago(I forgot what happened).

asth77 21st-Dec-2012 07:40 am (UTC)
I think that's a great decision, he already has had a long enough career.
Plus he'll be with his friends of the same age.

Aww best wishes for him! ;o;
islandgurl84 21st-Dec-2012 09:46 am (UTC)
He's fabulous as an actor and handsome and I'll miss him. And considering that he's been acting since he was a kid, he needs the break and when he comes back he'll be hotter and can transition to mature roles. All the best Yoo Seung Ho!!!!
soramai 21st-Dec-2012 11:46 am (UTC)
it's a good decision, it's better now than when he will be almost 30 and in the middle of his carreer.
xxmannequin 21st-Dec-2012 06:09 pm (UTC)
Nooo, too early :(
I wanted him in another cold-hearted-actually-not-ninja-role like in WBDS.
