Netizen who claimed to be T-ara's backdancer currently being detained by police

The netizen who claimed to be T-ara‘s former backdancer earlier this year and fanned the flames of alleged bullying within the group has been detained at Gangnam police station.

The Gangnam police station’s cyber crime team announced that “netizen A”, who allegedly wrote that Jiyeon slapped Hwayoung for a small mistake during practice, is being accused for defamation of character. However, netizen A is claiming that he simply spread the rumor, and that he was not the writer of the original post.

A representative from the police station stated, “After [rumors of] Hwayoung being bullied came out, the news spread instantly, and because the original post was deleted, it took a long time [to investigate]. We were unable to find the originator of the post. Because it’s still an ongoing investigation, we can’t reveal any more details.”

The cyber crime team explained, “Whether the statements by the person who misrepresented himself as T-ara’s backdancer are fact or fiction, because the statements could have had made [the group's] image suffer, it’s possible that maliciously spreading the post could be considered defamation of character.”

The truth always reveals itself in the end. Let's hope the rest are finally hunted down by the police!

That's stupid that he is being arrested. I hope the charges are dropped.
fancifury 27th-Dec-2012 07:46 pm (UTC)
how exactly is it stupid??? it's a serious issue.
mjspice 27th-Dec-2012 07:20 pm (UTC)
*sigh* The internet spreads rumors so fast these days....
honeebs 27th-Dec-2012 07:30 pm (UTC)
Bigger fish to fry Korea.
Fuck T-error and their character, defamed or not.
jewelia13 28th-Dec-2012 11:42 pm (UTC)
"T-Error"? Nice. You ARE aware that 99.99% of the "bullying" claims were just netizens making shit up, right?
toshi830 27th-Dec-2012 07:30 pm (UTC)
because the original post was deleted, it took a long time [to investigate]. We were unable to find the originator of the post. Because it’s still an ongoing investigation, we can’t reveal any more details.

so if that's the case doesn't that mean it might not be netizen A and he could be telling the truth
archenemy02 28th-Dec-2012 01:53 am (UTC)
Thing is , no one knows if the original post is true, then in that case this 'backup dancer' could be spreading false rumours taken from the original post. Given how quickly false information/half-truths can spread in online communities and how even the mainstream media can spread lies all the time, I wouldn't count on the original article to be true either
zeli17 27th-Dec-2012 07:32 pm (UTC)
If he/she did lie, and this was all a witch hunt, I will laugh.
fancifury 27th-Dec-2012 07:41 pm (UTC)
well deserved imo!
devilsatin 27th-Dec-2012 07:45 pm (UTC)
life in prison (no parole) please
lee_chikin 28th-Dec-2012 02:44 pm (UTC)
I get that you feel sorry for T-ARA, but please, save that comment for rapists and murderers.
unofficialdear 27th-Dec-2012 08:01 pm (UTC)
Should concentrate on sasaengs instead
imienazwisko 27th-Dec-2012 08:55 pm (UTC)

Is this another Police statement released by CCM again.
devilsatin 27th-Dec-2012 09:13 pm (UTC)
No, if you read the article it clearly says the police issued this statement
erbalurbal 27th-Dec-2012 08:49 pm (UTC)
why are they still dragging this on?
devilsatin 27th-Dec-2012 09:14 pm (UTC)
Because this is what happens when you commit a crime
handsomeboys 27th-Dec-2012 09:23 pm (UTC)
CCM cut the crap already T-itanic is just sinking more and more, pathetic
fancifury 28th-Dec-2012 03:12 am (UTC)
how exactly are they sinking? sexy love was a huge hit.

i think you're biased.
asth77 27th-Dec-2012 09:38 pm (UTC)
lol
it's ok they'll still have a career anyway.

While Hwayoung...
thebluemonk 28th-Dec-2012 01:23 am (UTC)
post your career, hot shot.
soft_daisy 27th-Dec-2012 10:59 pm (UTC)
tbh, whether or not the backdancer is found guilty or not, the truth is that there are a lot of other reasons why rumors of bullying came out, and as much as ccm would like to drag this on, i don't think the general public cares anymore and dragging this on will only increase the indifference to the group
rylee900 29th-Dec-2012 01:48 am (UTC)
I like this comment, and am embarrassed by most other comments here.
kiminikaeru 27th-Dec-2012 11:24 pm (UTC)
who the fuck cares
thebluemonk 28th-Dec-2012 01:23 am (UTC)
those who care for justice, those who care to right the wrongs of humanity and to bring peace and RIGHTEOUSNESS to all

THAT IS WHO CARES
purekpopology 27th-Dec-2012 11:28 pm (UTC)
I'm surprised so many of you are acting like this is completely unnecessary.

I know there are bigger issues within kpop that need addressing like saesangs, but that doesn't mean this doesn't deserve attention. To the members of T-ara this rumor (if it was a lie) really did damage to their reputations and career. Besides dealing with scorn from netizens and probably even people they met at schedules/in their daily lives, I'm sure many people who were going to offer them work changed their mind.

If someone at my work started a rumor about me, and because of that rumor my coworkers treated me differently, and I didn't get a promotion or something because of it, I would be insanely angry! That person would deserve to be punished, because my ability to succeed effected.
45s 28th-Dec-2012 12:44 am (UTC)
Tbh, it's going to be hard to blame all that on the one dancer. I don't think they're even going in with the intention of winning (they'll settle and the dancer will get community service since obvs they got no money), but just to prove a point no one cares about.

Tough case but like, kinda pointless as kks did the most damage to their careers than this rumor.
strawberry_efeu 27th-Dec-2012 11:55 pm (UTC)
Incidentally, it doesn't have to be a lie for someone to be charged with defamation of character in the Korean justice system. So just because this is happening doesn't mean that the rumor wasn't true.
lee_chikin 28th-Dec-2012 02:49 pm (UTC)
What? For real?
I wonder why korean gossip sites are still open then.
b1gay4 28th-Dec-2012 01:14 am (UTC)
are they seriously considering this some sort of top priority lol
im pretty sure this one guy is the least of their problems...
thebluemonk 28th-Dec-2012 01:21 am (UTC)
MORE INJUSTICE TO THE VICTIMS OF T-ERRORS BULLYING

this brave soul was doing nothing but telling the TRUTH. trying to end the bullying spread by t-error members like Jiyeon

but no. the hands their equally as deceptive and treacherous CEO has no doubt paid off some police members to arrest and submerge the truth in his vileness!

Sisters and brothers, dongsaengs alike, my people! if you crave, if you long, if you THIRST for justice, you will join me in my cause for RIGHTEOUSNESS. for too long, my dongsaengs, for too long as this evil been allowed to spread, it's creep now spread along the law, a law that was supposed to be for justice. but now it serves a lower master, that of greed, that of hatred, that of CCM.

WELL I SAY NO MORE. WE WILL HAVE JUSTICE FOR HWAYOUNG. WE WILL SEE THE TREACHEROUS T-ERROR PUT TO SHAME AND PUT TO JUSTICE.
thebluemonk 28th-Dec-2012 01:22 am (UTC)
ps justice for hwayoung!
pinkwingsblack 28th-Dec-2012 04:12 am (UTC)
i hope SOMETHING comes from this. whether the bullying rumors are true or if it was all a lie.
i guess the unfortunate thing is if it was all lies, then there will always be people out there who refuse to accept the truth. and if it's not lies then ... well, those girls are the ones that have to live with themselves.
jewelia13 28th-Dec-2012 11:48 pm (UTC)
Hwayoung said she wasn't bullied. There's loads of evidence discrediting all those false claims, and SEVERAL instances where T-ARA went out of their way to make Hwayoung feel welcome.

TBH, I'm side-eyeing even AKP, who changed one of their article titles to make T-ARA sound bad (think it was "Boram damages Hwayoung's umbrella?" to "Boram destroys Hwayoung's umbrella!").
trancexperiment 28th-Dec-2012 06:41 am (UTC)
Ugh more of this? Can we please just do away with T-error completely?
jewelia13 28th-Dec-2012 11:49 pm (UTC)
How about we do away with the shitty-ass netizens who bashed them without having concrete proof, then were made to look like the douchebags they were when it was all proven false?
