South Korean singer and actor Lee Seung Gi makes K-Pop Hot 100 chart history when he became the first South Korean artist to reign six weeks at number one in Billboard's K-Pop Hot 100, the first since it was introduced in August 2011.

Lee achieved the feat with his charming ballad "Return" which successfully secured the top spot for a month and a half, shielding off equally popular acts like IU and PSY. Both K-Pop artists holds a record of five weeks for their hit singles "You and I" (IU) and "Gangnam Style" (PSY) according to a blog post on Korea.com.

The popular track "Return" is just one of K-Pop chart's lovely serenades and ballads, known in the country as "healing music", most of which currently holds a spot in the Korean Billboard chart.

The song was released in the holiday season, as Billboard noted, which usually have few new track releases making it stay at the No.1 longer, because there's not much competitive records from other artists.

Lee has been ranked by the Korean Advertisers Association as the "most likeable star for advertisements and commercials", where he endorses an array of popular brands and services like Pizza Hut, Activia, Heritory (clothing), Kolon Sports and Samsung ( appearing with PSY in a television commercial).

The male ballad singer debut in 2004, with the song "Because you're my girl", which earned him the "Best Newcomer" award in Seoul Music Awards and M.net KM music Festival. He released the digital singles "Will you marry me" in 2009 and "Love taught me to drink" in 2010, which both earned him the Digital Single Bonsang Award from Golden Disk, South Korea's annual "Korean Grammy Awards".
