it seems like siwon, donghae and wook are on their way to beijing right now. but it seems like they don't have any schedule yet. i wonder what they'll be doing there.

lol at the 2nd video.

sungmin needs to sit next to someone who can translate for him. he looks lost all the time. lol!
sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 07:25 pm (UTC)
Yup I saw that. I dunno where Kyuhyun is going though? And there's no news on Zhou Mi and Henry BUT I suspect they will all be in Beijing by tomorrow since it keeps being suggested they have some kind of schedule on the 17th.
I'm assuming there is a reason those 3 are going to Beijing and not straight to Nanjing.
the_erotomanic 15th-Jan-2013 07:31 pm (UTC)
it seems like kyuhyun had to leave before the gda ended maybe he had musical schedule again. i remember key had to leave before an smtown concert ended, because he had to do the musical.

and what are sungmin and eunhyuk going to do?
sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 07:51 pm (UTC)
I totally forgot about Eunhyuk and Sungmin. Pahahaha

Idk maybe Hyuk/Min/Mi/Henry/Kyu will go together in some shape or form? I dunno why Siwon and co would go to Beijing on their tod without a big chunk of the group.

Whatever, SM. I don't understand anything about this comeback.
the_erotomanic 15th-Jan-2013 07:56 pm (UTC)
Whatever, SM. I don't understand anything about this comeback.

i kinda suspect it's the suju members themselves who are making it difficult for sme to promote sj-m. it's probably just my paranoia, but i feel bad for henmi if that's the case.
sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 08:23 pm (UTC)
Idk though. Isn't in the Managers' job to organise their schedules so things like promotions are reasonably clear , so solo projects don't get in the way of group promotions and vice-versa? I understand they wouldn't always want to dump solo projects for group activities, for example Siwon shouldn't refuse offers for roles in order to be more active in the group. But compromises could be made? It should've been sorted out ages ago, and I imagine there is a way to organise things so the promotions in China were more regular. I would've expected Kyuhyun to take a break from Radio Star for a bit, though I can understand why he'd be reluctant.

At this point, whether it's SM putting Korean members' side-activities as a priority, or group members making it difficult to properly promote, I feel bad for HenMi. They actually put in a lot of work for this album, and SJ-M is their main activity. I get that it's just another side-project for the Korean members (or could be seen that way) but this is Henry and Zhou Mi's only group, it's their only extended promotion, it's their only activity with the group and their only major music-centric thing. It sucks that the promotion is kind of sloppy with still no physical copy a week after digital release and really limited time in China. They already have to split their time with other members, have their unit pushed down as a low-priority project that can be left to gather dust for 2 years. They have their activities somewhat limited by Only13 kind of blocking them, take part in tours they are on stage for a measly 20 minutes for, don't have any other major projects (despite dipping their toes into acting which is forever a 'side activity' in my eyes) and now they have to put up with this?

I'm really hoping I'm just being impatient but having relatively little promotional activity in the first week of release isn't a good omen. Having no physical copy and few promotional goods doesn't fill me with high hopes. Doing 11 (/16 but i dunno what those other 5 are) schedules in 3 days inorder to have a backlog of interviews to see them through the time they aren't in China also isn't giving me good vibes. It's a very dumb way to do things.

It's not just shit for HenMi, it's shit for everyone else as well, just in a different way. Kyuhyun is going to be fucking exhausted if he's really going to keep up Radio Sar, and CMIYC and then rehearsals for Three Musketeers on top pf SJM promotions that have him doing over 10 schedules in a few days. Henry's already been in hospital, I foresee Kyuhyun getting sick next.
myiuchan 15th-Jan-2013 08:43 pm (UTC)
argh ikr, so pissed that they haven't released the physical copy yet............
sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 09:01 pm (UTC)
I'm so pressed. I don't know what they are going to add to this physical copy to give fans an incentive to buy it when a lot, including myself, have already bought it on Baidu or Itunes. I want a big ass poster, a photobook and/or a BTS dvd tbqh. Or bonus tracks. If I'm going to be buying an album twice I need an incentive.

I'm still a bit pressed that SM think they can promise a full length album and then only deliver 8 songs. instrumentals do not count, unfortunately, and Me has 13 tracks. Break down has one more track than the Super Girl mini album. Like seriously SM what are you doing.

On the topic of BTS though

Look what was just posted on yahoo is really terrible quality
myiuchan 15th-Jan-2013 09:18 pm (UTC)
argh idk who in sme thought that only releasing digital would be a good thing but jfc so dumb. like sjm is going to do well digitally, when we all know sj only does well on physical copies :(((
anyways, i need the album, a repackage, a japanese version... i want everything.. i want to buy all the sjm things Y U NO WANT MY MONEY, SME?????? :((

sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 09:30 pm (UTC)

Mi and Wook is my favourite part omg Mi's wtf face ;;
the_erotomanic 15th-Jan-2013 09:47 pm (UTC)
i think sme made a lot of compromises already. i'm sure they know what they're doing and are working with the limitations of having 6 people who have other commitments. what confuses me the most is why they still haven't performed breakdown live (or whatever passes for live in sme's ears these days). and of course why they only have 8 songs in what's supposed to be a full album. i'm also not quite sure why they chose this time to promote. i know people have been waiting for this comeback, but it seems like it got rushed.

right now, i don't think it's in sme's priorities to sell physical albums in china. they'll probably release it in korea sooner or later, though. but i don't think it's a top priority, since they won't earn much in releasing a physical album in china. but i wouldn't be surprised too if they release the albums/fan merch just in time for the fanmeets just so they can sign something for the fans.

the interviews seem like a good idea, since those are most likely going to be found in different websites. and they're target market is probably getting information by surfing the net using smartphones and computers. and one of suju's main draw is being good in variety shows. and doing interview are probably the closest they will have to a variety show. plus with all the translating that needs to be done for most of them, it'll probably be less awkward if they film in advance and edit them later. but i kind of expected them to do some magazine photoshoots, too. or at least should've done a few already for publication this january and february like what they did for super junior kry.

but yeah, some of them are really going to be exhausted. i'm not sure what ryeowook are doing these days, but he and kyu also have suju-kry commitments and it's going to be tough juggling all those schedules. and as you mentioned, kyu's schedule is so hectic, he's bound to get sick unless he gives up one or two projects.
sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 10:08 pm (UTC)
:| It does make sense because SJ are at a point in their career right now where solo projects are pretty important. And the physical copies are pm always for the fandom as a whole: Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, and the international fans. If they are planning to promote SJM in that Southeast Asia area, which kinda has been suggested at least with fanmeetings being held there, the physical copy would be worth-while. Particularly since SJ is more popular in Southeast Asia than Korea anyway.

:/ Idk I just wish there was something going on that made it seem fairer for Henry and Zhou Mi, and the less busy members. And a bit more time to space out those pre-recorded shows so the whole thing is a little less taxing on the members that are busy. Flying them back and forth doesn't feel like the greatest option.

I guess waiting to see how it goes is all you can do but it feels kinda plop to be waiting so long and then feel like the comeback is disorganised. I think I'd be ben bothered if there was some better indication of what their plan with this was.
the_erotomanic 15th-Jan-2013 10:29 pm (UTC)
i feel like the money they earn from those appearances in southeast asia is more than enough to compensate for the lack of album sales. although, i'm not really sure what's going to happen in the fanmeet for fans to shell out money for that.

but i definitely think that henmi are still getting the short end of the stick every time suju-m promotes. i wish henry and zhou mi would have interviews of their own, but they need the other boys to come along so that more people would pay attention. it's kinda sad that sme had to rope in siwon into being active in weibo, which zhou mi can do better, i think. he's such a netizen anyway. and he'll probably have better things to say, too. but then again, he'll probably get attacked by the only13 fans. :o\

exo-m flew so many times, that i don't think it'll be any different for suju-m. i'm just hoping the miles they get from all these traveling earn them a 1st class round trip to ticket to another country, so they can have a nice vacation.

another thing sme could be doing is they are using suju-m as guinea pigs for future promotions in china. like they're finding new ways to promote in china that's why it seems like they don't have a clear plan for this comeback. china's an emerging market in the music industry, and they need to find different ways of profiting.
sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 10:42 pm (UTC)
I was making such a >( face through the sina interview when they were talking about weibo. I'd love for Zhou Mi to re-enter the world of public internet posting but weibo is a weird place full of people who hate him. I kinda wish he'd get a twitter. You weibo search Zhou Mi and it's full of people bashing him. You Twitter search Zhou Mi and it's full of people praising him. Idk how much he cares about shit being banned in China anymore, and since Siwon and Henry and Donghae all tweeted while in Beijing, I don't know how much SM care either.
Idk I kinda hope Henry being active on weibo makes Zhou Mi feel a bit safer? He got into the habit of blocking annoying people back in the day and didn't take the people bashing him to heart It was hackergate that blew it for him.

And yeah~ the guinea pig thing is def possible. Super Junior does seem to be SMs test subject. I just wish their testing could benefit Henry and Zhou Mi a bit more. Though I suppose one thing they do get out of it is that little bot of extra freedom to develop more as artists. It's not a coincidence that, from the feedback I've seen, the songs Henry and Zhou Mi collaborated on are popular. It must suck for SJ-M fans that stubbornly hate Henry and Zhou Mi. That's half the album they need to hate on principle, and those two songs are bloody good songs.
the_erotomanic 15th-Jan-2013 10:57 pm (UTC)
i remember in one of the interviews that zhou mi mentioned videos the suju member uploaded through twitter and the host said that twitter is banned in china (or something like that). and zhou mi just said that it doesn't matter, since it'll get uploaded anyway (something to that effect). i'm hoping he at least knows that he is getting a lot of love in twitter.

and at least zhou mi gets to work with some well-known people. let's hope sme lets him build a network of important people in the business, so he can at least do something with them while suju promotes in korea. plus it'll help him improve his song writing skills.
sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 11:12 pm (UTC)
pm everything they post on twitter gets re-posted on weibo, if not by them then by fans.

Zhou Mi's network is easily one of the strongest in SJ if not SM. He knows pretty much every artist in Taiwan.
tbh I wish they'd let him do more solo OSTs and the like in Taiwan. Taiwan is another place that is a bit more HenMi friendly. And the Only13 antis seem to drop off when HenMi are doing things without SJ. there are way too many people on the internet that call themselves Only13 but claim to not hate HenMi, they just don't want them in SJ, ad get petulant when people get bitchy with them over being Only13. as if their dumb fan movement should be respected.
the_erotomanic 15th-Jan-2013 11:23 pm (UTC)
oh, another thing about the current sj-m promotions, where are the schedules for taiwan? taiwan is such an integral part of sj-m promotions, i'm surprised they haven't gone there yet.

only13 people are so weird. they're definitely the part of the fandom that needs to be weeded out. and they deserve all the mock they get from kpop fans.

zhou mi definitely should do more solo osts. he's a great ballad singer anyway.
sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 11:28 pm (UTC)
I think Taiwan is on their 'yet to be announced' list.
I really want SJM with Patty Hou again. And Fei ge. And ofc with Calvin so him and Zhou Mi can flirt as usual, and Show Lo just because ;~; their Taiwanese legs of promos are the best
sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 10:48 pm (UTC)
But yeah I agree that SE Asia is where SM is going to make their money with SJM and I hope they really start putting more effort into SE Asia with SJM because fans from Singapore and Malaysia and Thailand (and Japan! I would love to see more effort in Japan) are generally HenMi friendly. Very HenMi friendly. Thailand is pretty much HenMi's favourite place in the world rn and Singapore and Malaysia have always been nice and welcoming to my boys ;~; a bit of effort there would be really rewarding for those two.
the_erotomanic 15th-Jan-2013 11:03 pm (UTC)
i want to see them promote in japan, too. but zhou mi is probably going to get so much hate there, too. china and japan's relationship right now isn't really good. :o(

they definitely need to promote more in places where they are all loved. and since there's no sign of ss5 anytime soon, i think a lot of suju fans there would welcome them with open arms (and wallets/bank accounts).
sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 11:07 pm (UTC)
J-ELF sem pretty Zhou Mi friendly? He's always had a pretty good response there and there's a pretty strong Japanese Mitang fanbase...

Yesung mentioned preparing SS5 at GDA but yeah, yeah in general SJ need to promote more in SE Asia, particularly with M. Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore is pm the only places they might get away with attaching HenMi to main group promotions. But they'd definitely appreciate some SJ-M love.
the_erotomanic 15th-Jan-2013 11:15 pm (UTC)
well, zhou mi will probably get much love from kpop fans in japan. but the non kpop loving ones are probably going to use zhou mi's nationality against him. and i'm not sure sme can handle any negative feedback regarding his nationality properly.

hopefully when they go to vietnam, they get as much love, too.
sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 11:23 pm (UTC)
Hmmmm true.

Oh god hopefully ;;
momomoing 15th-Jan-2013 09:15 pm (UTC)
not following SJ-M, but wow OP did a great job of organizing this post!
hilary_faye 15th-Jan-2013 09:58 pm (UTC)
I'm kinda bummed to find out Nick Bass choreo'd. He's one of my favorites but I wasn't feeling the Breakdown choreo at all
luvey 16th-Jan-2013 05:15 pm (UTC)
really? do you know if he was actually there or did he video tape it in? when he is there the choreography tends to be good. when he sends it in, with one of his assistants, and beat burger changes things....it tends to run meh
markthatcoin 15th-Jan-2013 11:21 pm (UTC)
OP i admire your dedication to SJ-M, i go into these posts despite not following them!
sobaek 15th-Jan-2013 11:22 pm (UTC)
Thank you, thank you. Hahahaha
sweetcherrytree 16th-Jan-2013 01:43 am (UTC)
so glad SJM posts are allowed in omona now!

did henry's mandarin get worse? i feel like it used to be better...or am I hallucinating?

i wish they could do another long stay and really focus on SJM promotion because i ADORED their long stay in Taiwan, but it looks like it's just being half-assed between all of the activities going on in Korea... D:
bea_chan22 16th-Jan-2013 02:10 am (UTC)
Honestly, Henmi should be included in Super Junior. I'm always annoyed that they get the short end of the stick most of the time and yet they're really talented people. Screw all that Only13 BS (are they still thriving?).
lee_chikin 16th-Jan-2013 02:53 pm (UTC)
No rest for the suju antis, I therefore assume Only13 are a dormant virus waiting to become active at the first mention of "HenMi" and "Super Junior non-M" in the same sentence.
And that's a pity because those two could be bringing a much needed dose of freshness in Suju.
mad_nux 16th-Jan-2013 02:18 am (UTC)
haemin at the 2nd vid so cute aaw
lee_chikin 16th-Jan-2013 02:50 pm (UTC)
"New edge electro pop dubstep SONG" Please get rid of the dumbstep part because it almost killed breakdown for me, don't make it a trend.
\o/ Henmi composed GO? That's my favorite from the album!
