Hyoyeon reveals she was the most popular when she was a trainee

Hyoyeon confessed that she was the most popular when she was a trainee.

YoonA, Yuri, Tiffany, and Hyoyeon were guests on ‘Happy Together 3‘ that aired on January 17th. During the show, Hyoyeon was asked, “When was your best time period?“. She answered, “I don’t know if I had one. I was popular only when I was a trainee.”

YoonA confirmed, “Hyoyeon was the celebrity of all the trainees. She had fans even when she was a trainee“.

Hyoyeon continued, “I debuted after going through a long training period, but I wasn’t as popular as I was when I was a trainee. I told myself there was nothing wrong with my abilities.” She was then asked, “What do you think was the problem?“, and Hyoyeon gestured to her face, causing everyone to laugh.

Hyoyeon reveals she’s only given one victory speech

Yoo Hee Yeol chose Hyoyeon as the most charming Girls’ Generation member.

The ladies of Girls’ Generation were featured on the January 18 episode of ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘ and during the interview portion, the girls talked about many things. Taeyeon confessed she felt incredibly lonely, while Tiffany talked about the most recent time she cried.

Hyoyeon also showed off her characteristic easy-going personality on the show, completely charming MC Yoo Hee Yeol and causing him to say, “You’re very charming“.

She also revealed, “Girls’ Generation has won #1 many times on music shows, but I’ve only given a thank you speech just once“, surprising everyone.

The girls performed their old hits such as “Genie“, “Hoot“, and “Gee“, and also performed their new songs “Dancing Queen” and “I Got A Boy“. Tiffany and Taeyeon also sang the duet “Lost in Love“.

well SM could have easily made her popular if they chose to, even if she isn't Korea's ideal beauty. However they just shoved her in the back and gave her no screen time...

Is it just me or is her screentime for IGAB seriously lacking? I thought she'd be front and center a lot but she's always somewhere in the back and I'm confused as to why anyone would do that.

She's the only member I've ever really cared about because she always seems so happy, maybe it's good she's able to joke about these things? :\

They put her in the front more for IGAB, but then they stick her off to the side. And then on the music shows, her screen time varies depending on the show. She really can't win.

I know a lot of people are stuck on her "SK not thinking she's pretty" part. But for me after all these years I just wanted to know, if she knew that her popularity didn't have anything to do with her abilities/talent. So I'm very satisfied with her answer and her confidence.

I've seen fan accounts saying she's prettier in real life and actually one of the prettier members of SNSD. I don't think she's unattractive but she's definitely not as photogenic as some other members. I think it's just the difference in perception between people who can see her in real life and those who can only see her in videos/photos. Also she and Min had a dance team initiative pre-debut, so she was already producing material and performing predebut unlike some other trainees.
