YG Entertainment Bans Cosmetic Surgery on Rookies

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

YG Entertainment has announced that they have abstained members of their up-and-coming rookie female group from undergoing cosmetic surgery which, is considered an odd move in the Kpop industry.

The reason for this is because many of them are still young and they think it's best to portray them as they are, without being "overly made up". Last week YG released an au naturale picture of rookie member, Kim Ji-Soo, who's yet to make her debut.

They've also recruited a few girls to form a group but according to them, not all of them will "make it" into the group.

YAS! FINALLY! Do keep them all looking their natural beautiful self!

what's the point
flumes 23rd-Jan-2013 07:09 pm (UTC)
it's nice in theory before the company starts berating them for their natural beauty~

banning it is bizarre but at least we know they're not facing pressure to get it.

"it's nice in theory before the company starts berating them for their natural beauty~"

Yesp, especially since YG seems to like calling his girls "ugly"

It's not really an odd move considering how many companies advertise their groups as ~natural beauties~, even if they've had something done.

Who cares, really.

lol @ them making an announcement ;))))
icu YG

My thoughts exactly.
hitsujiga 23rd-Jan-2013 07:16 pm (UTC)
but she looks like she had double eyelid surgery?
idk yg where you are trying to go with this but good luck.
asnindie 23rd-Jan-2013 07:21 pm (UTC)
They'll still have cosmetic procedures, just not undergo surgery.
yumett 23rd-Jan-2013 07:31 pm (UTC)
what is the differences between them if i may ask ? i mean what are concidered as cosmetic procedures and not plastic surgeries ?
zombiechick815 23rd-Jan-2013 07:29 pm (UTC)
I like this idea! I hope it will give them a different feel from all of the other new girl groups.
es2pido 23rd-Jan-2013 07:30 pm (UTC)
I feel bad for Park Bom :(

hard time believing this as 100% true
kiku_cha8_8 23rd-Jan-2013 07:35 pm (UTC)
so these girls are banned from plastic surgery but still get the verbal abuse of being called 'ugly'

i don't see how that's beneficial.

yumett 23rd-Jan-2013 07:42 pm (UTC)
well that might be the only good thing YG has said lately.
it's a good news, in theory, and i'd be glad all the companies to be that way.
Now the thing is, will auditioning for YG become a model audition too now. Meaning they'll only take and give achance to good looking people. If you look common and normal and plain, if you're the average korean girl or boy, you'll stand no chance, whatever your talent. :/ idk.
and, i'm not sure how to take the "on rookies" part. does that mean that once they're no more rookies they'll make them go through plastic surgery, and they're saying this only to not pressure the young ones ? :/

aleexnews 23rd-Jan-2013 07:45 pm (UTC)
then does that mean Lalice won't be in the group?? cause she has clearly done something to her face. unless he means from now on lol

laceandskin 23rd-Jan-2013 08:02 pm (UTC)
Let's remember that YG is all about natural beauty.

timetobegin 23rd-Jan-2013 08:26 pm (UTC)
...is this legit? Actually surprised, I had never seen that left photo before. How old is she there, 13?
scubajr 23rd-Jan-2013 08:02 pm (UTC)
This is ridiculous. The girls should be able to decide for themselves.

+1 for the gif of Gackt on VS Arashi.

Lolk YG, i see you trying to create buzz about your new group.
mizzyoung 23rd-Jan-2013 08:06 pm (UTC)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't 2NE1 have a no plastic surgery clause in their contract? (I mean obviously Bom, but I remember hearing about it)
crazyxcami 23rd-Jan-2013 11:59 pm (UTC)
They didn't...
The only ones that had no plastic surgery clause was BIG MAMA & the new girl group. BIGBANG didn't have it either but he discouraged Daesung from getting anything done.
izabera 23rd-Jan-2013 08:07 pm (UTC)
I'm all for natural beauty but I can't help but suspect that no-PS gimmick is to drum up interest in the new girl group and market them as 'different'.

Maybe it's the only thing YGE could come up with to make them stand out in an oversaturated market.
mizzyoung 23rd-Jan-2013 08:10 pm (UTC)
The whole gimmick of this group is entirely on looks which makes me uneasy about their talent. I want to know what these girls are capable in regards to what they can do.
caramelorchoco 23rd-Jan-2013 08:15 pm (UTC)
lol what... this is kind of a stupid move yg
hellodee16 23rd-Jan-2013 08:23 pm (UTC)
all this talk about their looks and whatever
let's talk about their so-called TALENT, yg. have they got any?
timetobegin 23rd-Jan-2013 08:26 pm (UTC)
The only thing that should be banned is YG's fuckery.
memorian 23rd-Jan-2013 08:42 pm (UTC)
Instead of banning plastic Surgery, why not just teach girls to find the beauty within themselves. Instead of having to conform to a certain ideal of beauty (heart shaped face, big double lid eyes, and a skinny frame). That every girl is beautiful even if they don't don't look SNSD. Since every women is beautiful :/. There is not only one type of beauty.
