I enjoyed this cover. I think the rock instrumentation suited the song well, they were able to capture the elements of the song and convey them nicely, though the rap was kinda awkward~
this is way better than that recent bigbang cover. i don't think the raps are awk so much as, idk, they're spoken-sung kind of moodier and the music reflects that? my observation: just as in bigbang covers i miss top's voice the most, in shinee covers i miss onew's.
Ha, I loved the Bigbang cover - thought it was better than the original. And I say this as a fan with a Pavlovian reaction to Bigbang's voices. I think Bigbang over-emote on Love Song, especially G-Dragon, while LEDApple get the rock feel of the song down a lot better.
I agree that this is good, though. It's almost better than the original, for me. Maybe it's because YYJ (the composer) is a rock guy and it's nice to hear that influence clearly.
this is really awesome! was a LOT more restrained than expected at the "i'm so curious" chorus part, until the last iteration. but so fun to hear! the guitar lick at 3:10 took me back to middle school tbh
thanks everyone who keeps posting these LEDAPPLE covers!
They're an idol band, they recently finished promoting "Let The Wind Blow" which is worth checking out. They're in the studio working on their next release, to the best of my knowledge, and thus are dicking around with covers, because that's what dudes in bands do.
As far as I can tell they recorded a bunch of these more or less all at once (since Hanbyul has suspiciously familiar clothing in a few of them...) and are releasing them slowly as a bonus to their fans?
Nice, but I actually prefer Led Apple's own songs. Time is Up, Sadness, Run to You, Let the Wind Blow - not ashamed to say I loved all of them.
(OT but unfortunately I'm starting to see less and less reason why Kyumin is relevant in this group aside from giving Hanbyul a break. He seems like a nice guy, but more suited to an idol group, not a band :/ )
He's mostly a stunt maknae/for doing the sung-spoken/rap parts/harmony and making Hanbyul look less like a terrifying giant, really.
He's pretty solid on harmony, but it's definitely obvious that he has less jam experience than everyone else, which makes sense given that he's a few years younger?
I keep meaning to give them more of a listen. I haven't really been enjoying their recent covers, but this one wasn't that bad. I'm looking forward to hearing what they do with Go Away
Let the Wind Blow is a really awesome song, and the video is kind of gloriously meta. In general I appreciate the recurring theme of robots/control in their music videos. Also Hanbyul is unwholesomely attractive in the video. My sister likes to joke that it was made just so other human beings who aren't as biased as I am can see Hanbyul the way I see him all the time.
It definitely highlights the fact that, at its core, no company loves rock music as much as SM/Lee Soo Man does. Once you strip away the high gloss of most SM singles, the actual structures of the songs themselves are really easy to put in a four-part band format. Which is pretty neat.
(I, too, love the singer dynamic in Led Apple. Which is apparently an unpopular opinion in the fandom? But, like. I don't think they'd be as interesting if they had two belters.)
Hanbyul's Aussie accent kills me~ :P
also is it called 'led apple' coz they dont have the letter R in hangeul korean?
I agree that this is good, though. It's almost better than the original, for me. Maybe it's because YYJ (the composer) is a rock guy and it's nice to hear that influence clearly.

OMG THEY HAVE AN AUSTRALIAN?!
they need to just comeback as a band and leave the dancing behind.
oh and better music.

Anyway, I love this. I love it more than the original! It's interesting hearing the song without the layers of high-gloss production SM puts on.

but hmm not a big fan of the vocals for this.
never could get to like them on music shows though.
i blame the awful styling.
