I enjoyed this cover. I think the rock instrumentation suited the song well, they were able to capture the elements of the song and convey them nicely, though the rap was kinda awkward~

Hanbyul's Aussie accent kills me~ :P
nickle4apickle 5th-Feb-2013 08:36 pm (UTC)
Which one is Hanbyul? I know none of their names. ._.;;;
achan123 5th-Feb-2013 05:55 pm (UTC)
:/ not one of their better covers...
also is it called 'led apple' coz they dont have the letter R in hangeul korean?
swhyeon1991 5th-Feb-2013 06:05 pm (UTC)
Idts, since ㄹ is R as an initial or if it meets a vocal. Lol idk if I'm clear or explaining this right tbh.
lazmy 5th-Feb-2013 05:55 pm (UTC)
as if i needed another reason to love this song
22by7 5th-Feb-2013 06:12 pm (UTC)
this is way better than that recent bigbang cover. i don't think the raps are awk so much as, idk, they're spoken-sung kind of moodier and the music reflects that? my observation: just as in bigbang covers i miss top's voice the most, in shinee covers i miss onew's.
sub_divided 6th-Feb-2013 06:17 am (UTC)
Ha, I loved the Bigbang cover - thought it was better than the original. And I say this as a fan with a Pavlovian reaction to Bigbang's voices. I think Bigbang over-emote on Love Song, especially G-Dragon, while LEDApple get the rock feel of the song down a lot better.

I agree that this is good, though. It's almost better than the original, for me. Maybe it's because YYJ (the composer) is a rock guy and it's nice to hear that influence clearly.

this is really awesome! was a LOT more restrained than expected at the "i'm so curious" chorus part, until the last iteration. but so fun to hear! the guitar lick at 3:10 took me back to middle school tbh

thanks everyone who keeps posting these LEDAPPLE covers!
swhyeon1991 5th-Feb-2013 06:19 pm (UTC)
Next is 2NE1's Go Away, you should look forward to it tbh!
hitsujiga 5th-Feb-2013 06:29 pm (UTC)
i like *_*
epona 5th-Feb-2013 07:00 pm (UTC)
when I listen to their music I'm like hm that's not bad but when I watch them performing on music shows it's so embarrassing
epona 5th-Feb-2013 07:02 pm (UTC)
okay wait i take it back blondie has nice vocals but the other guy sounds weird
gray_fairy 5th-Feb-2013 07:18 pm (UTC)
Cool. I love rock music tbh :D. Some of them are really attractive (the one with glasses and the one with the red guitar).
the_erotomanic 5th-Feb-2013 07:40 pm (UTC)
this is better than their previous covers.
oliwon 5th-Feb-2013 07:58 pm (UTC)
I like it, A LOT!
love_keiko 5th-Feb-2013 08:08 pm (UTC)
this is EXCELLENT. wow---i hated their last cover so much and this one i sincerely love.

they need to just comeback as a band and leave the dancing behind.

oh and better music.
0nlymemories 5th-Feb-2013 10:52 pm (UTC)
You might want to look into Simply K-Pop, since Hanbyul hosts it, in all his I-Was-Born-In-Brisbane glory.
meterstandkaart 5th-Feb-2013 09:19 pm (UTC)
The vocalist on the right sounds weak. And stop making me so jealous with the cool looking Ibanez guitars!

This is good. I really liked it.
wushuhimexx 5th-Feb-2013 10:44 pm (UTC)
So could someone please explain to me exactly what ledapple is? Are they a cover band, a group with a lot of free time between promotions, or...?
0nlymemories 5th-Feb-2013 10:54 pm (UTC)
They're an idol band, they recently finished promoting "Let The Wind Blow" which is worth checking out. They're in the studio working on their next release, to the best of my knowledge, and thus are dicking around with covers, because that's what dudes in bands do.

As far as I can tell they recorded a bunch of these more or less all at once (since Hanbyul has suspiciously familiar clothing in a few of them...) and are releasing them slowly as a bonus to their fans?
weerainbow 6th-Feb-2013 12:32 am (UTC)
I enjoyed this mostly for the guitar cos I reeeeeally liked pretty much everything going on with the guitar in this. The rest was good but YAY GUITAR!
usual_notions 6th-Feb-2013 12:47 am (UTC)
Nice, but I actually prefer Led Apple's own songs. Time is Up, Sadness, Run to You, Let the Wind Blow - not ashamed to say I loved all of them.

(OT but unfortunately I'm starting to see less and less reason why Kyumin is relevant in this group aside from giving Hanbyul a break. He seems like a nice guy, but more suited to an idol group, not a band :/ )
0nlymemories 6th-Feb-2013 05:09 am (UTC)
He's mostly a stunt maknae/for doing the sung-spoken/rap parts/harmony and making Hanbyul look less like a terrifying giant, really.

He's pretty solid on harmony, but it's definitely obvious that he has less jam experience than everyone else, which makes sense given that he's a few years younger?
zombiechick815 6th-Feb-2013 01:25 am (UTC)
I keep meaning to give them more of a listen. I haven't really been enjoying their recent covers, but this one wasn't that bad. I'm looking forward to hearing what they do with Go Away
0nlymemories 6th-Feb-2013 05:11 am (UTC)
Let the Wind Blow is a really awesome song, and the video is kind of gloriously meta. In general I appreciate the recurring theme of robots/control in their music videos. Also Hanbyul is unwholesomely attractive in the video. My sister likes to joke that it was made just so other human beings who aren't as biased as I am can see Hanbyul the way I see him all the time.
dharawal 6th-Feb-2013 02:52 am (UTC)
Love this cover, told them so on twitter 8-)
sub_divided 6th-Feb-2013 06:24 am (UTC)
I kind of like that there's one accomplished singer and one awkward one, it's cute XD.

Anyway, I love this. I love it more than the original! It's interesting hearing the song without the layers of high-gloss production SM puts on.
0nlymemories 6th-Feb-2013 06:37 pm (UTC)
It definitely highlights the fact that, at its core, no company loves rock music as much as SM/Lee Soo Man does. Once you strip away the high gloss of most SM singles, the actual structures of the songs themselves are really easy to put in a four-part band format. Which is pretty neat.

(I, too, love the singer dynamic in Led Apple. Which is apparently an unpopular opinion in the fandom? But, like. I don't think they'd be as interesting if they had two belters.)
engraved_16 6th-Feb-2013 02:28 pm (UTC)
Ohhh i actually like this cover (: loving their take on the melody
but hmm not a big fan of the vocals for this.
unbewithable 7th-Feb-2013 01:04 am (UTC)
i like their covers so much.

never could get to like them on music shows though.
i blame the awful styling.
