Blocked all this while, JYJ will have “Forced Appearance on KBS” due to Presidential Inauguration

IE001402873_STD

JYJ (Kim Jaejoong, Park Yuchun, Kim Junsu) will be attending the 18th Presidential Inauguration Ceremony on the 25th. Before this, they have been public service ambassadors for various events, and now they have ascended to the stage of the Presidential Inauguration, firmly entrenching their unique position as “public idols”.

Looking at the portal site, JYJ has 7 ambassadorships. The 2011 Honorary Ambassador of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Honorary Ambassador for 10th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific, and On-Line Honorary Ambassador for Ministry of Education, Science And Technology are among those on the list. Especially for UNAIDS which is under the international body of the United Nations, JYJ is the Regional Goodwill Ambassadors for Asia-Pacific; this highlights their international status and is a significant contribution.

They shuttle to and fro doing public service activities at home and abroad, but it is very hard to see their faces on public broadcast. The variety show and music type of programmes have totally excluded them. In particular, for July 2011 KBS “New Seven Wonders” Special Live Broadcast, JYJ received notice that their performance has been cancelled just 4 days before the event, and the news stirred up a storm. (T/N JYJ were honorary ambassadors for the international promotion of Jeju Island which was nominated to be voted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the world. JYJ was chosen for their influence and ability to attract and raise foreign votes for the island. But for the KBS live broadcast performance, they were replaced with another group 4 days before the event.)

During this similar period, KBS was asked, “Why can’t JYJ perform on ‘Music Bank’?”, the answer was, “Because of the contractual dispute, if they appear on TV, it will involve legal problems and hinder the development of the cultural industry”, and also “Before the conclusion of the lawsuit, there will be a restrain on their broadcasting activities.”

But now, the story is different. In Nov 2012, JYJ and their former agency reached a mutual agreement and the legal dispute came to a conclusion. So JYJ’s appearance on TV programs would not involve “legal problems” any more. But still, in January, Kim Jaejoong who released a solo album that topped music and sales charts was excluded from KBS Music Bank.

In the midst of this came the news that the 18th Presidential Inauguration Ceremony will be broadcast live on KBS 1TV. “Public idols” JYJ will appear on KBS “public broadcast” on 25th Feb. Regarding this, JYJ’s agency said, “In the biggest event of the country, to be able to perform songs of the older generation of artists that they greatly respect, they are very happy. And to appear on TV after a long period of absence, it is good news for their fans.”

lol what kind of excuse would KBS pull out of their ass this time? Commercial break? Technology problem?
i don't have high hope for this, and also, even if they can appear smoothly this time, chance of them promoting on TV like normal idols is still lik

Did you know they're releasing a remake later this year staring Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore? My knee-jerk reaction is skepticism, but I'm still going to watch it.
pepper Re: SHIT JUST GOT REAL17th-Feb-2013 07:27 pm (UTC)
I'm skeptic too, nobody can beat Sissy Spacek's performance, after all. But the trailer got me interested, somehow. I dunno. I'm probably going to watch it too anyway.

megustaelmoney 17th-Feb-2013 06:35 pm (UTC)
i bet they'll have a really long commercial break.
nightfrost75 17th-Feb-2013 07:23 pm (UTC)
It's Korea, all their commercial breaks are long.
megustaelmoney 18th-Feb-2013 01:21 am (UTC)
lol true
supplanter 18th-Feb-2013 09:03 pm (UTC)
At least they don't have many of them. OTOH, don't they know viewers will just dick off and not watch any? (Or maybe they do watch them, if they anticipate their kpop oppars and unnirs appearing?)
nightfrost75 18th-Feb-2013 09:20 pm (UTC)
The things you can accomplish in a Korean commercial break.
I'm pretty sure I could make dinner in a Korean commercial break, and I don't mean in a microwave.
But yeah, having Infinite selling you phones or Won bin selling you cologne does take the sting out of it.
hipployta 17th-Feb-2013 06:41 pm (UTC)
I want to scream VICTORY but I know KBS will do something shady
jrt131n 17th-Feb-2013 06:42 pm (UTC)
And just as JYJ gets on stage and the music start, someone would have accidentally tripped over the plug knocking the camera off.
purekpopology 17th-Feb-2013 06:43 pm (UTC)
Like everyone is saying, just because they're *suppose* to be on TV doesn't mean they won't find some way to screw the over. I have my fingers crossed though. It'll be progress if this actually happens.
fourever_young 17th-Feb-2013 06:46 pm (UTC)
KBS, please no more bullshit this time.
yingmoon26 17th-Feb-2013 07:04 pm (UTC)
it is good news for sure but let's just hope it actually gets aired...
narimyeon 17th-Feb-2013 07:09 pm (UTC)
Did KBS actually do what everyone is expecting them to do?
dapo322 18th-Feb-2013 02:01 am (UTC)
I believe people's comments are referring to what happened to Junsu. Junsu performed at some event and I believe it was SBS that didn't broadcast the performance.

Here is the story
"According to fans who were present, Kim Junsu was promoted as a guest singer for the event, but the broadcast station present started packing its cameras following ZE:A’s performance and before Kim Junsu′s. Kim Junsu went on and performed even after the cameras stopped rolling.

Fans also pointed out that the main event posters were also switched out a one point, with Kim Junsu no longer seen in the picture."

i don't really believe it, KBS will do something so they won't appear on tv.. i will only believe it when i see it for myself, i don't trust this all
nightfrost75 17th-Feb-2013 07:24 pm (UTC)
I imagine KBS throwing themselves on the floor and having a fit when they heard this news. "Nooooooes! You can't make us."
sashays27 17th-Feb-2013 07:25 pm (UTC)
they will place them for the 'ending performance'
then use another group as a pretence ending for the television broadcast.
allow them to sing live but in fact the tv show have already 'ended'

in other words, exactly like what they did the previous time

idk man .

i believe kbs will pull some wtf cockery bullshit stupid stunts TT
furcalor 17th-Feb-2013 07:33 pm (UTC)
I don't see how KBS would get away with cutting their performance without it reflecting horribly on them. They have no excuses left. Still, they've gotten away with so much shit in the past so you never know.

I'm actually a little worried about JYJ covering Seo Taiji. It's not easy covering someone of Seo Taiji's caliber.
lenra 17th-Feb-2013 07:41 pm (UTC)
eh i'll believe when i see it.

darourie blue house's favorite artist?17th-Feb-2013 09:07 pm (UTC)
it reminds me last time my father pointed a picture in our national newspaper, while saying,"Looks like that our first lady enjoyed taking picture with KPop artist." I checked the newspaper and saw some first ladies posing with JYJ members in Blue House. There was a conference for some first ladies in South Korea (dont remember the exact event, too lazy to google it), and JYJ was invited to perform in Blue house. So, the first ladies took (opportunity to take) picture with them.

Is JYJ favorite artist for blue house?
rinn1e Re: blue house's favorite artist?18th-Feb-2013 09:19 am (UTC)
lol, yeah they were invited, JJ accompanied the Former President to Turkey, and JYJ was invited at one event? I think idk if they still are UN ambassador, but they are ambassadors to some big organizations and they often get invited to big events. But Broadcast stations still don't give a fuck.
ashiva 17th-Feb-2013 09:46 pm (UTC)
I bet KBS cuts to the commercial break when it's JYJ's turn. :-(
soramai 17th-Feb-2013 10:28 pm (UTC)
I'm pessimistic about it. I will wait until I see them on TV.

scubajr 17th-Feb-2013 11:01 pm (UTC)
Still not getting my hopes up. KBS will definitely find a way to screw them over. Though the thought of them actually performing on national television makes me so happy.
bloodyhanie 18th-Feb-2013 12:28 am (UTC)
meh. I'll believe it when I see them on tv.
Just like everybody said, I think they will find ways to fuck them again.
Bet they set a special committee just to brainstorm ways to fuck JYJ.
synce18 18th-Feb-2013 02:22 am (UTC)
Either KBS cuts them off or the camera pans out to the audience while JYJ are performing on stage just like what they did at Daegu Olympics.

I wonder if JYJ would perform 'Nan Arayo' like in the original MV version. I'd pay to see visuals of that, tbh.
ceecile 18th-Feb-2013 12:31 pm (UTC)
Not bringing anything new to the comments. I just agree with everybody. Either they'll go on commercial break or cut to the reporters or show a documentary type segment. It's what they did when they performed in Daegu.
I bet over at KBS they're going like Noooo you can't make us!
But I'm looking forward to what excuse they'll pull out of their ass this time.
mjspice 18th-Feb-2013 03:14 pm (UTC)
SMH for the block really. I'll believe it when I see it.

Not that I don't want them to be able to appear on music shows or anything else, but isn't it kind of a lie that they sold well other than physically? I don't think digital sales expectations for them are particularly high, and I'm pretty sure Jaejoong's recent offerings didn't sell particularly well digitally. Not sure how much of a difference music show appearances would make there.

EDIT: standing by this, I think, considering b.a.p's Rain Sound, which was a pre-release track with no promotions (though there was a music video) had higher 4-wk digital sales than Junsu's and Jaejoong's songs. "Mine" didn't even chart wk 4.

furcalor 18th-Feb-2013 11:42 pm (UTC)
They have performed on TV like twice or something in the past three years so yeah I think it's important for people to actually hear your music for it to sell well. Junsu in particular has hardly been on TV at all in the past years since he hasn't been on any dramas. He's said so himself that he's constantly surprised that he has new, younger fans because he has no idea how they hear of him.

There's no way of knowing how much they'd sell if they'd actually get to promote and it's hard to compare them to other performers since their situation is seriously weird.
supplanter 19th-Feb-2013 12:01 am (UTC)
It is weird, but I'd think they should still be better off than rookies. They are, like, the furthest thing from unknown, and TVXQ has been promoting so it's not like ppl should be unaware they existed ("Like, where did the other 3 members go? Oh, they have their own music out?")
weerainbow 19th-Feb-2013 01:37 am (UTC)
I'm cautiously hopeful that this time will be different...not letting myself get carried away though because history too often repeats itself.
b1gay4 19th-Feb-2013 07:14 am (UTC)
as long as they're on my tv
