2012 K-Pop debuts

Soompi very nicely compiled two videos with all the boy and girl idol debuts for 2012, watching these made me sad, so many debuts and so few actually managed to make a lasting impression.

They also did a pretty nifty infographic about debuts from 1996 to 2011

Something else that made me sad, so many groups.

And apparantly there were more idol debut groups in 2012 than ever before.

sorry about that Mods, I think I have it all this time 8-)

watching them all at once makes it so obvious what image/'type' each of them is going for... .__.;;

Who the hell are those Lay-T girls?
"Who" to most of them actually

sub_divided 24th-Feb-2013 05:16 am (UTC)
Lay.T are a neo-trot group. They're really good, actually!
kiminikaeru 23rd-Feb-2013 03:35 pm (UTC)
spica is already my second favorite group in kpop right after beg lol. they're just PERFECT and i don't understand how you can not love them. they're extremely talented, beautiful, good performers, nice, funny and down to earth.
i also liked d-unit, evol, gangkiz, glam, crayon pop, exid, sunny days and fiestar. hello venus' debut album was good too but their latest comeback was a mess.

i love spica, but for some reason 'lonely' just turns me off from them so much. it's too typical, too expected. they're better than that, and should show it instead of doing something where they don't get to really show their amazing vocals.
hellodee16 23rd-Feb-2013 03:43 pm (UTC)
lol @ jackpot.
their company couldn't even afford them a music video.
at least they didn't waste their money, I guess.

edit: oop nvm they aren't the only ones...

but holy shit there are so much more nugu girlgroups I've never heard of than boy groups.

There are so many terrible nugu girl groups... (and terrible nugu boy groups, but the girls are more terrible on average, for some reason).

The Jackpot song is actually really good though! I'm listening to the full version now. It's surprisingly good.

The ones that left the biggest impression on me are Nu'est and spica.
Like boom! The moment I saw their mv/heard their song.

So many girl groups I never heard about wow
lettherebeminho 23rd-Feb-2013 04:14 pm (UTC)
surprised myself at how many of them i'd heard of.
then again, i actively seek out nugu groups because you're always finding new (and sometimes something good) rather than waiting months and months for big-name groups to spit out mediocre mini-albums. whoops.

The only songs I liked from 2012 rookies were Nuest's Face, BAP's Warrior, EXO's Mama, JJP's Bounce, SPICA's songs, Exid's Who's that girl and Fiestar's Vista.. the rest was meh
lee_chikin 23rd-Feb-2013 11:32 pm (UTC)
I really liked JJ Project's debut, I wonder how they ended up.
lenkaxchan 23rd-Feb-2013 04:17 pm (UTC)
wow, so many nugus.
I'm actually quite suprised because most of the songs weren't really that bad. However, some of the mvs look so low budget it hurts my eyes.

also, it made me realize how much I want Tasty's comeback.
goshipgurl 23rd-Feb-2013 04:19 pm (UTC)
99% of them are so lulzy
i cant

tokadah 23rd-Feb-2013 04:21 pm (UTC)
lol the groups that are real nugus don't even have a MV?!

could really use a F.I.X and C-Clown comeback rn.
bunica1990 23rd-Feb-2013 04:21 pm (UTC)
Omg who are most of these groups?

They should have included EXO-M too, even if they're promoting in China. /biased lol

"7942 - I'll be famous."
Try again.
But still super interesting. I think when you debut, you really need to make an impression, which is why I don't understand why some of them debut with ballads. They are good singers, but it's kinda like K.Will, it will be a long road before they can carve a name out for themselves.
Same thing with the ones who debut with generic dance tracks... All the dance tracks sounded like each other
odd_fish_stick 23rd-Feb-2013 04:32 pm (UTC)
i thought they all sounded the same too. and you can tell this year's concept as whatever exo was rocking. like half the groups had the same styling
odd_fish_stick 23rd-Feb-2013 04:31 pm (UTC)
lol like 10 of these girl groups don't even have music videos
Two X flopped bad right?
the only debuts i liked were 15& and Crayon pop. I also liked AOA and was very excited for Hello Venus but they both have disappointed me since.

boy groups are so boring to me. none of them caught my attention except jjp and tasty
markthatcoin 24th-Feb-2013 01:49 am (UTC)
it frustrates me that Two X flopped cuz i love how J.Tune handled MBLAQ. i want to love Two X but i just love Eunyoung. i guess i have to blame/thank Rain.
scarletapples 23rd-Feb-2013 04:42 pm (UTC)
I could name about 8 boy groups and 10 girl groups... surprised myself there. Ones I keep tabs on are BAP, JJ Project, C-Clown (unfortunate name still), VIXX (only got into them this year tbh), GLAM, and SPICA. And she's not here because she's not a group, but Ailee as well!

Is it just me or is there a lot of *CAPSLOCK* and numbers in a lot of the group names?
adeqjue Lunafly! ♥23rd-Feb-2013 05:04 pm (UTC)

2012, the year of rookies. The ones that have my heart (lol but still..) are NUEST,BTOB,EXO (M tbh althou they didnt put them here), and LUNAFLY!!

allegsiseu Re: Lunafly! ♥23rd-Feb-2013 05:16 pm (UTC)
