How do celebrities deal with 1 meal a day?

How do celebrities deal with their 1-meal-a-day diets? Well, apparently by eating a huge meal for their ’1 meal’!

Hong Jin Young tweeted a photo of herself eating and wrote, “The bad example of a 1-meal-a-day diet.. kekekekekekekeke;;.” Her ’1 meal’ included 2 giant bowls of bibimbap, 2 tonkatsu plates, and 3 huge bowls of side dishes.

Gil also tweeted a photo with the message, “Lately, the 1-meal-a-day is a trend, right..? So I started, too… A big revelation of Gil’s diet~.” Gil’s meal consisted of 3 huge bowls along with 3 side dish plates.

Does their version of the ’1 meal a day’ diet sound good to you?

How would you feel trying out their 1-meal-a-day diet?

dragonphoenix77 4th-Apr-2013 05:56 pm (UTC)
idk but i'm pretty sure I've read something where yixing mentioned only eating one meal a day while he was a trainee, and it def worked for him... not sure i want to subject myself to this though bc tummy growling in class again orz
uglypricetag 4th-Apr-2013 02:52 pm (UTC)

imienazwisko 4th-Apr-2013 02:57 pm (UTC)

tempestdance 4th-Apr-2013 02:58 pm (UTC)
it's not a celebrity thing, there was a documentary recently about how eating one big meal a day and fasting for 16 hours can help you lose weight in a healthy way or something - it became a recent fad in korea in general.
kazu_kumaguro 4th-Apr-2013 04:31 pm (UTC)
I think you're supposed to gain weight instead because your digestion system is slowing down and then having a big intake of calories.
My friend was too lazy (and poor) so she had one big meal everyday and gained weight.
I lost weight after I came home and eat (more) regularly.
pladpuss 4th-Apr-2013 03:00 pm (UTC)
Yeah right that would never work for me I have to eat every three hours despite how much I ate for the previous meal.
laeryn 4th-Apr-2013 03:34 pm (UTC)
IKR? Same here. I'm sort of dieting now and it's SO HARD to only eat 4 meals/day I DON'T GET IT HOW CAN THEY D:
love_keiko 4th-Apr-2013 03:04 pm (UTC)
dumb and unhealthy.

ideg why these companies cant afford to get proper nutritionists for their artists if they want them to be skinny so bad. damn.
bunica1990 4th-Apr-2013 03:13 pm (UTC)
What a dumb diet.
laeryn 4th-Apr-2013 03:34 pm (UTC)
I first heard about this from Stella's twitter. She said it was a trend in Korea and I just WTF'ed. I wanted to reply her (cause she asked what her followers thought about it) but then I just got stuck in the WTF. Sounds crazy to me, especially if you've got a job as demanding as the idol's. Crazy.
gunsandsmoke 4th-Apr-2013 03:39 pm (UTC)
damn gil all that red food and you're goin to eat in front of your computer????? ugh he's like my dad. have fun getting kimchi stains and kochu spice bits out of your keyboard for months to come, gross

kazu_kumaguro 4th-Apr-2013 04:32 pm (UTC)
dude, I did when I lived alone in one room studio, and I clean the keyboard every time.
super_nezumi 4th-Apr-2013 03:42 pm (UTC)
Errrrmmmm, I've been known to eat one meal a day when things are really hectic or when I've been ill but nothing like this! Although I know there's something like this in TCM ~ it's supposed to be "good" for your body to focus on digesting only once a day ~ doing it for dieting purposes still sounds wacky to me and not very healthy, especially all that meat. But at least I'm seeing veggies so good for them!
Fad diets are no good anyways, these are lovely people and I'd like to see them find a way of eating that will help them stay healthy and gorgeous and active for years to come.
But I have to say, those pictures make me so hungry first thing in the morning! That bibimbap looks sooooo good.
torontok 4th-Apr-2013 03:53 pm (UTC)
IDK, how would this work? Wouldn't it have health risks for performers?
ETA: Asked my mum about this (she's a sports nutritionist) and she said it's incredibly bad for people with schedules liek idols considering how many calories they burn while performing, reherasing. This could actually cause them to gain weight, since the less often you feed the body, the more it retains food when you do.

kazu_kumaguro 4th-Apr-2013 04:33 pm (UTC)
that what I think as well, the food retaining part.
dumb diet if they actually try to lose weight with this method.
modestgoddess79 4th-Apr-2013 04:02 pm (UTC)
wouldn't they just feel stuffed and bloated for hours after eating so much at once?
kazu_kumaguro 4th-Apr-2013 04:34 pm (UTC)
they must have really healthy intestine or something.
I feel so gassed even after not eating just for 4 hours.
anconeous 4th-Apr-2013 04:04 pm (UTC)
They could just easily space it out and eat 6 small meals the whole day.

And it's ridiculous to eat only 1 huge meal per day 'cause the body's metabolism just does not work for that. This diet can even backfire and make you get fatter easier.
aquariia 4th-Apr-2013 04:06 pm (UTC)
As far as I know such diet is neither healthy nor make people loose weight. Metabolism slows down with only one meal a day. I know a guy who eats like that, he's not slim.
erbalurbal 4th-Apr-2013 04:21 pm (UTC)
It would be better to break that up into 3, or more, meals. Eat a large meal for breakfast, medium meal for lunch, light snack/meal for dinner. I get the "science" behind this but it doesn't work as a diet.
gray_fairy 4th-Apr-2013 04:55 pm (UTC)
+1
oliwon 4th-Apr-2013 04:38 pm (UTC)
i don't know how they manage to dance/practice while being hungry!
I got my braces last month and I barely could eat, and it was really hard for me, I can't imagine it as a lifestyle .__.
lysblack 4th-Apr-2013 04:41 pm (UTC)
this is ridiculous.
paige_nevaeh 4th-Apr-2013 04:47 pm (UTC)
I'd rather eat all that over the course of the day...
gray_fairy 4th-Apr-2013 04:53 pm (UTC)
I don't eat very much but just 1 meal a day is unhealthy :/. I've read that it's neccessary to eat at least 3/4 times a day to mantain healthy glucose levels.
cabiai 4th-Apr-2013 09:39 pm (UTC)
I switched from 3 meals a day to 5-6 small meals and it pretty much fixed my low blood pressure problem.

I heard it's also good for regulating blood sugar and helps with all kinds of hormonal and metabolic issues.
That 1 meal a day diet sounds dangerous :(
fatjackinc 4th-Apr-2013 04:54 pm (UTC)
its a proven fact that eating lots of small meals throughout the day is what makes u loose weight. kolea r don it wrong
k0dama 4th-Apr-2013 04:59 pm (UTC)
The bigger the meal the bigger the hunger pains later.

Also, on the other side of the continent, fasting is currently a fad diet in Britain.

tl:dr; Your genetics and upbringing determine if you are fat or not. Stop trying.
asnindie 4th-Apr-2013 05:01 pm (UTC)
Fasting is weirdly easy. A friend of mine in school used to cry about it during Ramadhan so I tried it with him one year, surprisingly easy.
asnindie 4th-Apr-2013 05:00 pm (UTC)
So stupid, not eating slows down your metabolism completely. It's best to eat something every 4 hours, just make it healthy and you'll live well. These fad diets are moronic.
falling_empress 4th-Apr-2013 06:53 pm (UTC)
it's true. this is basically how i've eaten for the past 5 years (not by choice, but necessity) and i really don't gain weight or lose weight. i've stayed the same weight because of the slow metabolism and clinging to nutrients.
xblackchristmas 4th-Apr-2013 05:05 pm (UTC)
its not even that large of a portion...
rotationstation 4th-Apr-2013 05:23 pm (UTC)
Really?
the_erotomanic 4th-Apr-2013 05:17 pm (UTC)
you can see the person taking the photo in that hong jin young's pic.

is she an idol? is gil an idol? maybe they don't have schedules as tough as other idols?
tingl 4th-Apr-2013 06:20 pm (UTC)
gil is a member of the hip hop duo, leessang
921227 4th-Apr-2013 05:25 pm (UTC)
I don't get it.... fad diets are strange

And, jfc, how can that much be eaten in one sitting? I can get full form just eating a small combo meal, never mind three peoples worth of food.
