TWICE Breaks Its Own Sales Record In Japan In Just 3 Days With “Candy Pop”

Three days after its release on February 7, TWICE’s new Japanese single “Candy Pop” has sold over 210,000 copies. The single has already managed to break the previous record for first-week sales of a Japanese release by a K-pop girl group, which was set by TWICE’s first Japanese single “One More Time.”

“Candy Pop” also set a new record for the highest sales of any K-pop girl group in Japan on the day of its release.

As TWICE spends its third consecutive day at the top of the Oricon daily chart, many industry observers speculate that “Candy Pop,” the group’s fastest-selling Japanese release yet, will become its third release to go platinum in Japan.

Last year, TWICE became the first Korean artist to receive platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for both its first Japanese album and its first Japanese single. According to the RIAJ’s certification thresholds, albums are certified platinum once they reach 250,000 sales.

It's already at 237,000 after four days, they gained a lot of popularity since OMT. I don't think it's just fans buying either, since it keeps selling tens of thousands even a few days after release.

it's definitely not just fans, fans usually rush to buy it on the first day. the fact that they're selling quite steadily means the public is also buying
