Police confirm that Open World Ent.’s CEO forced male idols to sexually harass trainees

On April 15th, Kangnam police confirmed, what was previously reported, that Open World Entertainment‘s CEO had indeed ordered male idol group members to participate in the sexual harassment of six of his trainees.

Police revealed that the CEO could face several charges of gang rape, and that investigations also revealed that he had indeed ordered his male idol groups to participate in the abuse.

Officials of the police stated, “Since the end of 2010, the CEO sexually harrassed six trainees over 10 times. In the process, he had also ordered male idol groups members under his own agency to harrass them as well.

The police have currently launched additional investigations into the case and are discussing the charges to be made against the male idol group members.

Police continued, “We believe that the CEO had not used violence or threats to force the male idols into committing such acts, but rather his status and power. We will have to continue our investigations on whether there was such compliance at the actual scene.

As previously reported, police have confiscated CCTV videos and phone conversation recordings and currently have a considerable amount of evidence against the CEO.

I honestly hope he's put away for a long time where he can't permanently hurt people like he's already done.

No man should have all that power..

As upsetting it is to read about all of this, I can't express how glad I am that this is not being swept under the rug. These poor victims deserve justice and this revolting monster deserves to rot in hell.

relmneiko 15th-Apr-2012 08:43 am (UTC)
idk that seems like the boys are also victims in a way as well... they're being coerced into sexual activity. isn't that assault?
hellodee16 15th-Apr-2012 08:18 am (UTC)
so sick.

I want to know which male idols tbh.
even if they were forced to participate, I still would side-eye them ngl...
taecish 15th-Apr-2012 08:20 am (UTC)
this is disgusting but all the "oppa didn't mean it" i'm seeing is disgusting too. Unless they had a gun to the head then no other excuse is acceptable to me.
reeses6826 15th-Apr-2012 08:20 am (UTC)
Are people actually saying that already? We don't even know the details yet...
yuukihitohira 15th-Apr-2012 08:23 am (UTC)
amen to this
jonghyunf 15th-Apr-2012 08:21 am (UTC)
before people start arguing that the members of certain idol groups are victims too: the fact that you're a victim does not excuse you from performing that act on somebody else. In other words, you can be a victim and a perpetrator.

Unless they were threatened with death (themselves or loved ones), I can't really buy any sort of excuse.

This fucking piece of shit. I hope he rots in jail along with those male idols. Disgusting.
reeses6826 15th-Apr-2012 08:25 am (UTC)
Let me just say this:

It's entirely possible that those male idols hold some responsibility. It's also entirely possible that they don't.

+1000. I'm reserving judgment until more facts come out about this case. Hopefully everything pertinent to the case will translated for us.
aeryro 15th-Apr-2012 08:26 am (UTC)
people can do all sorts of things under pressure
a la milgram experiment

gyuri 15th-Apr-2012 08:28 am (UTC)
this situation isn't as black and white as everyone is making it out to be. the boys involced are still victims, are they victims in the same sense of the girls who were raped by the disgusting ceo? no, but they are victims.

you can be a victim and a perpetrator.
shikinluv 15th-Apr-2012 08:29 am (UTC)
I just want the victims to see justice served.
dorkiilove 15th-Apr-2012 08:48 am (UTC)
lmao. good job for personally insulting a member and then freezing the replies

dorkiilove 15th-Apr-2012 08:29 am (UTC)
In the process, he had also ordered male idol groups members under his own agency to harrass them as well.

So, JunJin, The Boss or X-5?

mikilove13 15th-Apr-2012 08:35 am (UTC)
Junjin's mentioned previously that he had nothing to do with any of this.
jonghyunf 15th-Apr-2012 08:36 am (UTC)
They're not the same. Not going to buy into this one translation for a true definitive answer. Both acts are disgusting and vile though, so that shouldn't really matter.
faister 15th-Apr-2012 08:37 am (UTC)
peope arguing that they are victims to bc they were forced: even if they were forced, it doesn't mean they aren't accountable for their actions in a court of law. idk how it works in south korea, but i'm pretty sure in the US it wouldn't be looking good for them. in international law it even states that you are accountable for your action if you know the consequences beforehand, and even if you are forced or ordered to.
faister 15th-Apr-2012 08:42 am (UTC)
people* oops
cecelialorene 15th-Apr-2012 08:41 am (UTC)
guess what, victim blamers, idols depend on their company to live and by having that much power over someone is just as effective as a gun to the head.
have you ever been forced or coerced into doing something you didn't want to do?
if not dont fucking judge the victims.
if "they are both victims and perpetrators" i guess that makes me a thief because i was forced by my father to steal. thanks for that omona community.
and fyi i'm not an 'oppa didn't mean it' kind of person, so dont pull that shit on me.
jonghyunf 15th-Apr-2012 08:48 am (UTC)
I'm terribly sorry for what happened in your past really. It's not the same issue, though. I can understand if you were forced to steal and complied with your father's orders because you were scared and felt helpless.

However, I'm pretty sure many are much more willing to excuse your act of thievary, as it most likely didn't impact any particular person's life (besides your own) in such a way that they're scarred for life. Acts of a sexual nature do, however. And to commit these acts upon others when you've been treated the same way...it's different. In this case, you're harming others in a way that can fuck them up for a great portion of their lives.
theuncolored 15th-Apr-2012 08:42 am (UTC)
i love x-5 but if they were part of this...
idk. i'm be very disappointed.
angel_9_lives 15th-Apr-2012 08:43 am (UTC)
just speaking for myself here, but the only reasons I can accept for why the male idols participated are these:

1) threat of death, either to themselves or to family members/loved ones.
2) "either you do this to her/him, or we'll get your (loved one), and do it to them as well."

everything else...no. just...no. Granted, I've never been in that position (thankfully), but still. The guys had their own will. They could've walked away, or reported the CEO for what he was doing, and they didn't.

unless some really strong evidence is found saying that either of those threats were the cause of the idols' participation, oppa fucking meant it.

the only part that matters in this comment is oppa fucking meant it.
