I really don't recommend passing on what may seem substandard dramas based on production value alone.
Japanese dramas have massive budgets yet only churn out a handful of outstanding ones each year. And I find Meteor Garden the best version of BOF and Korea's the absolute worst (even behind the Chinese one).
There are great dramas across the board, you should give them a shot. :)
I thought you were talking about the Japanese show being the original. But even so, the Taiwanese follows the manga and the Japanese show is just cracktastic.
I don't consider it a copycat. Movies are made based off of books a lot of the time, and not all books were made in the country of the movie. *shrugs*
The thing I really hate from Taiwanese dramas is they overuse voiceovers so much, it's like -- why is there a 20 minute monologue going on in this guy's head when something could be happening?!
'I find Meteor Garden the best version of BOF' Really? I actually thought it was the worst (excluding the Mainland Chinese one, which I've never watched). The acting was awful (and awfully distracting, not that HYD has much of a storyline for us to be distracted from l-lol).
This! She ruins every TW drama for me. I couldn't stand to watch her drama with Jerry Yan-Down With Love- because she overacts every freaking scene. Only a horrible actress can come between me and my Jerry Yan fix.
srsly, worst actress I've ever seen. Still dont get how anyone could like her acting or the tw version of hana kimi, I couldnt even get thru the first 10 min of it cause of her. Also, Mizuki supposed to look like a pretty boy that looked like a girl. Ella just looked like a boy...an ugly boy at that... >_>

I have, and it was my first time playing Zero 2.
although in "in time with you" monologues were very insightfull ia most of the time they are just long and full of rambling.
The settings and acting in the Japanese version are better, but the appearances and trivial things in Metero Garden is better, so IA :P
Me too. As much as I love Mao and the quirkiness of MatsuJun...My heart is still with Jerry Yan and his pineapple hair..
