B1A4's Gongchan receives kidney surgery

Group B1A4’s member Gongchan received a kidney removal surgery today. (23rd)

According to Gongchan’s doctor “Gongchan’s diagnoses was an apriority narrowing of his kidney pelvis ureter in which one side of his kidney was not able to function and therefore received surgery.”

B1A4’s company WM Entertainment claimed “Gongchan was experiencing pains on his side during Baby Good Night promotions and was diagnosed with kidney problems when consulting with the doctor. However, his strong will to undergo surgery once the Baby Good Night promotions were over delayed his surgery. Whenever Gongchan would experience pains he would take pain killers and go on with his promotions with bright looks, making it unaware to fellow B1A4 members and fans. He also didn’t want the fans to worry so asked to keep information of the surgery quiet.”

Currently, Gongchan’s surgery has gone successfully and is recovering in the hospital. He will be hospitalized for a week.

Once he is out of the hospital there should be no problems with everyday life but will need to avoid promotions for the time being.

On the other hand, B1A4 finished their album promotions and will star in KBS JOY’s “B1A4’s Hello Baby” set to air on July 25th and hopes to show a different side to them.

Toddlers should be less taxing on the kidneys than promotions at least. Hopefully he can stay in the spotlight and rest at the same time. I heard that kidney problems usually heal well after surgery though... so best of luck.

“Gongchan’s kidney problem is in-born, and is due to one of his ureter being too narrow for his kidney to function properly. Hence we have decided on surgery to remove one of his kidneys.”

omg ))): sounds awful, but i'm amazed that he was willing to push it back for so long. my sis had some kidney troubles when she was younger and some days she didn't even get out of bed because it hurt so much ):

MY POOR PUPPY. D: Ugh I felt so bad when I read this and I'm still upset about it. I hope he has a quick recovery and WM actually lets him rest while he's healing... although I'm irritated that he had to finish up promotions. He must've been on some quality pain killers to hide that from even his bandmates...

Jinyoung must be devastated that he didn't notice it or anything. D: UGH. POOR PUPPIES.

I'm crying. Damn gongchan... Why did you do this to us. Thank god the surgery went well. But the fact that you endured the pain for the sake of promotion is really killing me. Please don't do something like this ever again. I love you so so so much.. Rest well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WM's been pretty reasonable thus far about not over-working them, and I can easily believe that responsible Gongchan refused to hold up the parade by interrupting promotions. And if it is indeed a birth defect rather than a developed condition, as the other translation specifies, I can believe that it wasn't something suddenly devastating. It sounds like it was always a problem and just got aggravated by work. :( Nonetheless, it sucks that he was suffering in silence like that.

What about their weekly session where they talk about their FEELINGS? They're all sitting in a circle in the living room and the maknae is not speaking up about his UPCOMING SURGERY? This is the stuff of fanfic, y'all. Too much potential puppy angst to contemplate.

nooo, a lot of people were commenting about how he was looking a bit down lately but everyone just figured it was because he was tired with all promotions and travelling to Japan and back all the time :(

I had kidney problems when I was a kid, and even though I was in a hospital for about a week (with lots of trips to the doctor's after), I now only have a vague memory of how painful it was. But the fact is, it was painful. Didn't get surgery, but it was definitely serious. Channie!!! That's pretty serious stuff. Sad to hear that you had to tolerate it for as long as you did. Glad to know you'll be doing better now.

no wonder everyone had a feeling Gongchan was more quiet and even looking sad lately, most people just figured he was tired because the boys have been working nonstop but omg this ;~;
i hope he recovers well and that in the future he doesn't feel the need to hide something like this just for the sake of promotions, i'm sure fans (and the other boys) would understand if he had gotten treatment before :(

I am so glad that he's not like other idols who had to do dance training for long hours.... because he can't continue being like that with only 1 kidney :(
