OST Queen Taeyeon to Perform ‘Closer’ on ‘Inkigayo’

For the upcoming episode of SBS’s “Inkigayo”, Taeyeon will be taking the stage to sing her latest OST song, “Closer”.

Taeyeon recorded “Closer” for the SBS drama “To The Beautiful You”. The song was released on September 5th and has found success on various music sites. After its first week of sales, “Closer” currently holds the 7th spot on the Gaon Singles Chart and is the overall best seller among all the OST songs on the soundtrack of “To The Beautiful You”.

Make sure to tune in to Taeyeon’s performance on this week’s “Inkigayo”, airing September 16th at 3:50 PM KST.

“Heugeen chingoo jungmal numoo yebbojoh” directly translates to “black friend is really pretty.”

Come on, why would she refer to Alicia as a friend if they've never met? I'm a sone too, but it's pretty obvious that Taeyeon said "she's pretty for a black person".

i honestly dont hear chingu either, to me it clearly sounds like 치곤 and i dont hear the u for chingu in there at all but some ppl will hear what they want to hear.

lol woooooooowwww. first time hearing her actually say it. i was iffy on it before because i've read various things from on the internet but she clearly said "pretty for a black girl." my apathy slowly churned into disgust with her.

What she said was "That black person is pretty." Not "Pretty for a black girl". There's no proper term in Korean for African-American, so they use "black person". It is not meant to be offensive.

If anything, I've been learning Korean for 4 years and several Korean friends have said I understand the language quite accurately.

If this is the correct translation, she still pointed out her race. That was not necessary and definitely can be seen as offensive. Unfortunately, this keeps me from stanning for her.

As much as I love Taeyeon's singing, I wouldn't call her the OST queen.

i'll let you be the judge of that :D i personally don't think she cried, maybe teared up a bit, but she did look overwhelmed with emotions. what she did at the end is what i do when i'm ugly sobbing lol

Yay! I love this song, so I can't wait to see her perform it. Her performances of 'I Love You' in Saitama and Osaka were beautiful/amazing.

Baek Ji Young gets beautiful OST songs (whereas Taeyeon sometimes gets them like 'Can You Hear Me' and 'Closer'), but on stage, Taeyeon expresses the emotions of the songs better or maybe her voice just works more for me.

I haven't heard enough people to know if she deserves the title of OST queen, but she's definitely vocal royalty. One of the best singers of all the K-pop I've heard. I will listen to her sing a boring ballad any day *^*

And omg ppl everytime a Taeng post comes somebody has to throw the racism card. *eyeroll*
