Bangtan (BTS) release teaser pictures taken in The Holocaust Memorial in Berlin

BTS posted teaser photos on Twitter recently, which is great! But, uh, then people recognized the location as the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in Berlin.

So … yeah that’s a bad idea. Like horrible. Pictures is one thing, but a fucking photoshoot, apparently for a photobook? Come on.

Anyway, after being inundated with tweets, BTS’s official Twitter finally took the pics down (which is why I don’t have all of them), but it’s a bit late for that anyway.

I trust I don’t have to explain the problem to oppa apologists here.

A spokesperson of the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe had previously commented on a similar situation:

"We only give permission to projects that have a connection to the memorial, the Holocaust or some aspect of commemoration."

This raised concern amoung fans that BigHit either didn't attempt to get permission or were denied and followed suit anyway.

It's also been noted by some that Rapmon had previously worn a hat that bears Nazi symbols (swastika, eagle, and skull). Specifically, the insignia of the SS, who were responsible for running the concentration camps all over Europe.

BigHit has yet to release an official statement.

Pictures under cut.Collapse )

This is disgusting. No words.

I don't really like linking AsianJunkie since their "articles" are not really "articles" but it's the only one I could find that isn't Allkpop.

BIgHit is such a terrible company. I wouldn't be surprised from any company doing this because there is (across the world) so much Nazi ~fashion~~~~~~~~~ statements over the past few decades but this company really is the pits. They don't know what they're doing and they got lucky with BTS.

To everyone who is trying to defend this mess - how about thinking how knetizens would react if someone like Iggy, Gaga or Nicki Minaj (just an example of popular star who uses Eastern Asian culture in their "work") and did a photoshoot for their album in The War Memorial of Korea...Would the same people say "but seriously, it's not like they were educated about it so it's okay to not know"?

How...did I miss this? I've been too obsessed with Jonghyun to really pay attn to my fave nugu group. Man...wtf was management thinking?! Sometimes I wonder if these companies do this shit on purpose to create buzz. Of all places to do a photoshoot in Germany, why do it there????

I'm not really sure what RM speaking English has to do with any of this. First I don't believe BH didn't know it was a memorial, and even if RM or any of the other members said, "Hey guys, this is a memorial, we probably shouldn't do this," I'm not sure management would've listened or gave a crap.

JFC SK idol companies, have some fucking tact!
