1. MEDIA SWARM LIKE VULTURES AS SEPTEMBER 12 DUE DATE FOR CHOI'S BABY APPROACHES!
A resolution to pregnancy claims made by the ex-girlfriend of Kim Hyun Joong could be coming soon. On September 9, Korean media outlets increased their interest in the September 12 pregnancy due date of the ex-lover of the pop star and actor, who is currently serving his active duty term in the military.
In a report published by Newsen, legal representatives for the woman who is domestically referred to as A or Miss Choi, refrained from commenting on her impending due date. "There is currently nothing that we have to say," said Sun Jong Moon, a lawyer for the woman.
In July 2015, the alleged due date for his ex-girlfriend was announced prior to a $1 million USD counter-suit issued by Kim Hyung Joong against the woman for defamation of character.
The high-profile case, which continues to dominate Korean entertainment headlines, began in August 2014 when domestic violence allegations were made against the "Boys Over Flowers" star by his then-girlfriend. The claims were dropped, after an official investigation, when the star reached a settlement with the woman.
Subsequent legal proceedings followed the incident, which led to reports that the woman was pregnant with their child. The legal battle between the parties led to the disclosure of information from the previous settlement, where Kim allegedly paid his then-girlfriend approximately $419,000 USD (500 KRW) to settle their dispute.
Meanwhile, the Hallyu star is expected to refrain from taking leave from the military, while he awaits the next court date. The next hearing is scheduled for September 23.
2. KHJ TOO AFRAID TO SHOW FACE AND WILL NOT BE TAKING SEPTEMBER MILITARY LEAVE
Singer-actor Kim Hyun-joong, who is mired in a legal scandal with his former girlfriend, canceled his first military leave which was scheduled early September, local news reported on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old, who began his mandatory military service in May, did not take the leave that was granted, but the reason is unknown, Kim’s agency Key East was quoted in the report.
According to Kim’s acquaintance, he is keeping a low profile before the third hearing at the court scheduled on Sept. 23.
The legal battle flared up in April when Kim’s ex-girlfriend, identified only by her surname Choi, filed a damages suit for 1.6 billion won ($1.34 million) in compensation for the alleged psychological trauma and physical assault on her.
In response, Kim countersued Choi for 1.2 billion won for false accusation, blackmailing, defamation and breach of contract where Choi failed to conceal their incident from the public even after receiving 600 million won in settlement last year.
