Korea's latest trend: Calf Reduction Sugery

Attractive calves are desirable to people of all cultures. Unfortunately, thick, short, and overly muscular calves, a condition known as "radish calves" or "radish legs," are more common in Asian women.

A large calf may be considered an aesthetic problem by women who find it awkward to wear certain clothes like short skirts or swimsuits. Bulky calves can also make the legs look shorter, and short height is a common point of employment discrimination in the Orient.

Popular Asian media seems so obsessed with long, thin legs that computer-manipulated ads not uncommonly appear comically distorted.

scary to the point of no matter how much I want slimmer legs, I would not go for this...
But then again I don't have to depend on my looks to get paid...so I have to say I worry for the people who have to look good for their jobs.
pon_pon_pink 29th-Oct-2009 07:06 am (UTC)
i have FAT CALVES...and the worst part is, the right one is even fatter....
and stil i would never do that. I waer my mini skirts and everything i want proudly :D
elvia_e 29th-Oct-2009 07:16 am (UTC)
WTF. No, just no. I like not being paralyzed for vanity reasons, thanks.
kittycurious 29th-Oct-2009 07:18 am (UTC)
The fact you may have to relearn how to walk is already WTF.

All I can say is;
1. Thank god my calfs are fat so if I want to lose them I just need to diet and exercise...
2. Knowing that the perfect legs of celebs are, most likely, completely fake makes me feel better about my less than perfect legs. :)

I honestly find having a bit of muscle much more attractive then having stick legs.
I don't really like UEE, but her legs are awesome.

xcherryblossomx 29th-Oct-2009 07:26 am (UTC)
UEE's legs are to die for!
IMHO she has the best legs of all the kpop girls
himehikari 29th-Oct-2009 07:26 am (UTC)
OMG
Liposuction..well I can understand that
BUT damaging you gastrocnemious? NO!~ It's one of the main muscles for walking!
gunsandsmoke 29th-Oct-2009 07:28 am (UTC)
omg people NO! it's called pilates and stretching, they give u lean muscle that tends to slim calves.

and now i understand why asian dieting tricks always seems to advise AGAINST exercising, because they want to avoid building any muscle :OO but OK umm a little exercising helps trust me. no exercising at all results in that skinny-fat body lots of asians have.

ngl i've always had short muscular-ish legs but i played football for yeearrs AND i travel a lot ie: walk everywhere in the city. i'm still skinny, i just don't have SNSD legs. but that was never going to happen because i'm 5' flat :c anyways I LIKE WALKING KTHX
