ZE:A’s TaeHun Star Diary Part 1: “When I was young I wanted to become a…”

Asiae met up with ZE:A’s own TaeHun, who is known for his ‘tough guy’ rapper personality. While fans of ZE:A are used to seeing his charismatic roughness on stage, it was surprising to meet the real person off-stage with a naturally-shy and boyish personality.

Kim Heechul saved the Dream Concert?

Super Junior’s Heechul saved this year’s Dream Concert?

On the 22nd, the 2010 Dream Concert was held at the Seoul Sang-Ahm World Cup arena where Heechul, 2PM’s Taecyeon and Shin Se Kyung were the MC’s.

There were no big problems during the concert but without Heechul, it wouldn’t have gone as smoothly. It wasn’t hard to see that it was his third year hosting the show.

Whenever the concert seemed to lose its energy, he would throw funny comments. The singers took longer to get ready this time and people were getting a bit impatient. Singers wouldn’t come out even after the MC’s announced them. But he would show hidden talents, start singing and dancing to stall the audience.

He helped out Taecyeon and Shin Se Kyung as well. Taecyeon would perform little snippets of his talents as well but seemed a little awkward in doing so because it was his first time hosting. Heechul would help by going along with everything.

Shin Se Kyung would not put down her cue cards and kept making awkward laughs at the jokes. Heechul would compliment her and make her sing songs to loosen her up.

Super Junior speaks up about Hankyung

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

During an interview with various press members, Super Junior revealed their feelings regarding their Chinese member Hankyung’s absence.

These days, Super Junior has been promoting with ten members. Kangin is enlisting in the army soon, Kibum is concentrating on acting and Hankyung is caught in a legal feud with SM Entertainment.

Leeteuk commented,

“I think we forgot that Hankyung was a Chinese person because we worked with him for so long. It’s like how a family sometimes don’t share their feelings with each other because they see each other constantly. We didn’t really listen to each other’s problems. I thought about what a hard time Hankyung had to be in to do this. If he has a change of heart, his place is still empty so I hope he returns.”

Although Kangin and Kibum have been supporting Super Junior on their comeback, Hankyung has currently cut off his contact with the members. Let’s hope his issues with SM Entertainment are resolved soon!

Super Junior's Han Kyung makes return to Chinese music industry

Famously known as the "Chinese import" of the highly-successful Korean boyband, Super Junior, Han Kyung reportedly filed a request to terminate his contract last December. This has led to a long ongoing battle between the artiste and his Korean management company, SM Entertainment.

Hailing from Mudanjiang, China, Han Kyung was propelled to international stardom after becoming a member of Super Junior. Apart from that, he is also the group leader of the band's subgroup, Super Junior-M, which was nominated for last year's Golden Melody Awards.

Fans of the Chinese singer are worried about his career prospects after he revealed his decision to go solo, but it seems like their fears are unfounded.

According to Chinese reports, the 26-year-old has been prepping for a comeback to the Chinese music industry. He reportedly enlisted the help of renowned Taiwanese music producer Yuan Weiren, Zhang Yadong, and various others in the recording of his first solo album.

While Yuan Weiren has confirmed rumours of a possible upcoming collaboration, Han Kyung has remained tight-lipped over this project and is said to be halfway through the album recording. The versatile performer will be making a comeback with a dance number.

Am I supposed to be happy for him? l:

Leeteuk: “I’m thinking of entering into the army next year”

Super Junior ’6 years since the debut’ has confessed about entering the army.

Super junior met with the reporters at Seoul Kangnamgu Ahpgujung on May 20th afternoon and said, “if we are to appeal to the public, we have to fulfill the duty of national defense.”

Unlike from their title as ‘Junior’ and ‘idol’, Super Junior includes the leader Leeteuk and Heechul wh are 28 years and other members who are reaching their mid to late 20s.

Super Junior said about getting old with the fans, “we are surprised ourselves that we were able to do it for this long” and also said, “we experienced incidents that we don’t think we won’t be shaken by little things anymore. We have gained endurance and will be able to survive longer. We believe that we will last for 20 to 30 years without harm.”

Super Junior will have to fulfill their duty of national defense with Kangin who could enter the army in July of this year. They said, “Of course, we have to fulfill the duty of national defense. Many people think that celebrities avoid entering the army, but we will go into the army as Korean men.”

Leeteuk said, “I’m thinking of entering into the army next year. It could be at the end of 2011 or the beginning of 2012. I’m going to work hard until I enter into the army and I will come back as Super Junior.”

“I believe that if I show myself as someone who works hard, I will survive longer as a singer.”

Meanwhile, Super Junior is becoming popular with their 4th album title song ‘Miinah.’

in denial :(

Heechul was in depression after Hankyung left Super Junior

In 2008, Super Junior has achieved an unprecedented hit with 'Sorry Sorry" They became the record king and also swept various awards including Golden Disk Awards, becoming dignified overseas including Taiwan and Hong Kong. However, the good comes with the bad. After moments of happiness and glory pass, bad news came. Member Hankyung requested the dissolution of his contract against SM Entertainment

The wound that Kim Heechul has received was especially big. He lived in the same dorm as Hankyung and had a special relationship with him. Their special relationship can be observed with his cyworld minihompy containing full of pictures that they took together. He said, "I was in a big chaos. It was difficult for me to laugh on TV and dance on stage."

Ha Ha Ha takes prize at Cannes

Although most of the attention regarding Korean films at Cannes International Film Festival has been given to The Housemaid and Poetry, a third Korean entry, Ha Ha Ha, has won the top prize in the Un Certain Regard competition. Second place (the jury prize) went to Peruvian film Octubre.

Un Certain Regard is one of the competitive categories that awards young and/or innovative talent. Cannes’ top honor, the Palme d’Or, has yet to be awarded and will be announced tomorrow, along with the director, screenplay, and acting prizes. (Both Poetry and The Housemaid are eligible there.)

Ha Ha Ha is directed by Hong Sang-soo and is his sixth entry at Cannes, and his first prize-winner. Previous entrants were The Power of Kangwon Province in 1998, Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors in 2000, Woman Is the Future of Man in 2004, Tale of Cinema in 2005, and Like You Know It All at last year’s festival.

The film unfolds as an aspiring filmmaker who decides to move to Canada (played by Kim Sang-kyung, currently in the drama My Country Calls) reminisces with a film critic he’d met while on a trip (Yoo Joon-sang). The movie also stars Yeh Ji-won (Daytime Drinking) and Moon So-ri (of Forever the Moment, who coincidentally also appears in The Housemaid).
