F.CUZ to comeback in November with composer Kim Hyung Seok
Four member idol group, F.CUZ, will be releasing their new album on November 11th, with a title track composed by Kim Hyung Seok.
Kim Hyung Seok previously composed for Park Jin Young, Um Jung Hwa, Sung Shi kyung and others, and rarely, if ever, composes for idol singers. His recent track for Sung Shi Kyung and IU’s duet, “It’s You,” has been dominating music charts since its release.
Much attention is now being put on how ballad composer, Kim Hyung Seok, will work with dance idols F.CUZ and what kind of music they’ll create for F.CUZ’s comeback.
Their title track is said to be completely different from the popular dance songs out there today, with a more luxurious and modern melody and sad lyrics, made to differentiate them from other standard idol groups in the market. The song has no auto-tune usage as well, in order to express a heavier mood.
Before the official release of the music video of First on 4Minute's Youtube channel, Japanese fans had already uploaded the contents onto the cyber world, spreading the girls' music to all over the globe. With lively punk beats as the support of the melody, 4Minute showcased their pure and cute charisma, winning cheers and love from fans.
With the uncovering of the addictive cute dance in the MV, there was an overwhelming response coming from the fans as they have named it the "tapping dance". Korean fans have also requested for an official release in Korea.
On the other hand, Japanese fans are anticipating the girls' upcoming activities in Japan, and are excited over their cute transformation.
4Minute was the first Korean girl group to enter the Japanese market and has created much positive reaction from the Japanese public. This sets the green light for the girls' future in Japan.
As we all know that 4Minute will be attending the K-Pop Night in Japan 2010 and at the same time promoting the 'FIRST/DREAMS COME TRUE' single, they will be staying in Japan from 24th to 29th October, after which they will proceed to China for the 'Hallyu on Halloween' event.
Starring: Rainbow, Secret, 4minute, Infinite and Supernova. A cut from MBC's Flower Bouquet where the guys have to give the girls piggyback rides while answering questions to advance to the next level. Watch for the cuteness and cute stupidity. <3

Mnet’s Asian Music Awards will be held overseas for the first time this year in Macau on November 28th!
Due to the popularity of the MAMA show, it’s been requested to air internationally. Currently, it’s been broadcasted live in Japan, China, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Macau, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.
Representatives of Mnet boasted, “We will not be sparing anything in order to make sure that MAMA successfully becomes Asia’s main music festival. We want to develop the power of Asian music to surpass the Grammys.”
Regarding Mnet’s decision to hold the ceremony in Macau, representatives explained that ”[Macau] is straightforward with culture and has a nice performance infrastructure, making it easier to closely converse with fans of Asian music. With Korean pop music being the leaders of Asia’s music market, representatives of Macau are anticipating a lot from Mnet as well.”
Mnet CEO Park Kwang Won participated as part of the production team for the ‘2010 MAMA’, and provided his hopes and ambition for the Hallyu wave:
“We must raise the Asian market itself in order to prevent the Hallyu wave from flowing in just one direction and ending there. There must be an interchanging of Asian culture as a whole in order to develop the Asian wave. Just like the influence that the American Grammy awards has on the entire Western market, we hope to develop the MAMA in order to influence the global Asian music market.”
The 2010 MAMA will be announcing the nominations along with specific judging guidelines on October 28th.
She's one of South Korea's biggest stars -- with sellout shows, legions of devoted fans and a plethora of advertising deals.
But Kim Yuna, who clinched the country's first Olympic medal in figure skating at the Winter Games in Vancouver earlier this year, isn't your average celebrity.
The 20-year-old, also known as "Queen Yuna," is a national hero in South Korea, is ranked No. 1 by the International Skating Union (ISU) and was named by TIME magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of 2010.
Born in Bucheon, South Korea, Kim was on the ice at the age of five. It was a difficult climb to the top, with Kim having to move to Toronto at the age of 16 in order to pursue her Olympic ambitions.
In this first in a series on the Korean Wave, or hallyu, The Diplomat investigates the history behind the phenomenon.
What are the roots of the Korean Wave—the remarkable global rise in popularity of South Korean pop culture over the past decade? Analysts I’ve spoken to agree the trend began in the late 1990s in Taiwan, where the unexpected popularity of a politically endorsed hit dance music group called Clon sparked an interest in Korean pop and then Korean TV shows. The interest and fanfare surrounding the latter soon spread to China and Japan, among other places, and through the early 2000s fanned out as far as India and the United States (and even Iran—I’ll be talking about this more on Monday.)
So why did it take off in the first place? Jong-Bong Choi, assistant professor of Cinema Studies at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, told me that the Korean Wave was likely given a boost by economic circumstances. In the mid-1990s, South Korea’s rhetoric and foreign policy shifted from being somewhat isolationist to pro-globalization—Korea was opening up to the world.
