INFINITE’s Dongwoo gets pulled off stage by an audience member

Even though there’ve been several reports of stars being injured by overzealous fans, it seems that security is still lax at festivals, as it was recently reported that INFINITE’s Dongwoo was pulled off stage.

On June 4th, INFINITE was performing “Nothing’s Over” at a public music festival when an audience member latched onto Dongwoo’s leg, dragging him off the stage. Fortunately, security managed to intervene and safely brought him back up. The members seemed unable to shake off their shock, however, as their facial expressions remained hard.

Netizens commented, “Dongwoo must’ve been so scared, how could they just pull him like that”, “Just seeing it is shocking, I can hear the screams from the crowd”, and “Even with security present, stars are still at risk. This is a problem.”

IU, Yesung, Jonghyun Drop Out of Immortal Song 2

IU, Super Junior’s Yesung, and SHINee’s Jonghyun will drop out of Immortal Song 2.

Kwon Jaeyoung PD said on 6 June, “IU, Yesung, and Jonghyun are leaving because of their busy schedules. Last episode was IU’s last, and the 3rd episode that is aired on 18 June will be the last one for Yesung and Jonghyun.”

IU, Yesung, and Jonghyun will be replace by Secret’s Song Jieun, 2PM’s Joonsu, and FT Island’s Lee Hongki.

Kwon PD added, “I’m sorry that we cannot show how the original members improve, but we think positively that this will give opportunities to more idol stars.”

The Rule Changes For Next Immortal Song 2 Episode

Secret’s Song Jieun replaces IU. Song participated in the first round filmed under the theme “A Song I Practiced with in Trainee Days.”

Immortal Song 2 is likely to become more competitive as the rule for deciding the performing order in the second round has been modified. On last episode, the MC drew a ball with the name of the singer to perform, but from the next episode the winner in the first round will be the last performer in the second round.

The viewer rating for the first episode was 7.9% (AGB Nielsen Media Research Nationwide Ratings) to signal a successful start.

This show is random. No one's going to keep watching if the cast keeps changing. The first episode was IU's last... >.>

’s Krystal has been put up on the chopping block once again for her rude attitude, only this time it was on SBS’s “Kiss & Cry“.

June 5th’s episode revealed the stars’ preparation process as they geared up for their first performance. Immediately, viewers noticed an air of tension between Krystal and her trainer, Lee Dong Hoon.

[trans] SHINee Interview in Japanese Magazine ORISUTA (Oricon Style)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

-You debuted in 2008 in Korea and will start your activities in Japan. Shall we talk about the birth of SHINee as a group?

Minho: We passed an audition or were headhunted, and then practiced as SHINee for about a year before debuting in Korea.
Key: We have had our activities with this concept of contemporary band since we debuted in Korea. It means we pursue the newest trends in everything from music and dance to fashion. This part won’t change in Japan.

-Now you are entering your 4th year together. What were your first impressions of other members?

Taemin: Minho hyung has big eyes, well-defined features, and good style. So I thought he was not a Korean (laugh). He stuttered when he talked to me maybe because he’s introverted, so I thought he’s younger than me. Key hyung made a strong impression from the beginning for his showy fashion (laugh).
Key: I was showy from the beginning (laugh).

Emiratis are captivated by Korean culture

From left, Warda Saleh, Sanaa Saoud al Hamzi, Amina Ahmed al Ansari, Hanan Khalid al Amri and Latifa Ahmad al Romaithi show off their Korean pop culture collections at a Korean restaurant in the capital.

ABU DHABI // When Korean boy bands release a new video, Warda Saleh can hardly wait the few hours for her and her three best friends to get out of class to watch it.

To avoid wasting time, the 22-year-old Emirati, a student at Zayed University, finds an empty classroom and sets up the projector so they can watch their beloved fresh-faced, spiky-haired heartthrobs on the screen together.

When one is tardy the others call them. "Odi?" they say - "where are you?" in Korean.

Exam pressure can drive S. Korea teens to suicide

The crushing pressure on South Korean teenagers to perform well in exams can leave some students so distraught they feel life just isn't worth living.

Dozens of teenagers kill themselves every year -- often around the time of an annual college entrance exam -- amid fears they didn't do well enough to enter the college of their dreams.

In one recent shocking case, a 16-year-old in the southwestern city of Mokpo doused himself with gasoline and set himself ablaze in the street.

He left a note saying he had done badly in tests and felt he had let his parents down.

The number of school-age suicides rose from 100 in 2003 to 202 in 2009, according to education ministry statistics.

SBS’s “Kiss & Cry” makes broadcast schedule changes to avoid embarrassment

Although SBS’s “Kim Yuna’s Kiss & Cry” changed their broadcasting time, they once again witnessed the humiliation of having their viewer ratings drop.

On June 6th, AGB Nielson Media Research recorded the viewer ratings of the June 5th broadcast of “Kiss & Cry” as 5.7%, which is 2.5% lower than their May 29th broadcast, which came in at 8.2%.

“Kiss & Cry” was broadcast during the second segment of the “I Like Sunday” corner for the first time, as “Kiss & Cry” had previously been broadcast in the first segment at 5:20 PM. ”Kiss & Cry” was the follow-up program to “Heroes” and its time slot was switched with “Running Man“, which was originally aired during the first segment, in hopes of better ratings.

Big Bang put their maknae to good use

Big Bang's youngest member, Seungri, revealed how 'Big Bang obtain phone numbers of female celebrities'.

On the aired episode of SBS's "Night After Night" on June 6th Seungri confessed it all.

Seungri said, "Big Bang put a lot of emphasis on the seniority system. From eldest to youngest they're very accurate. The hyungs say to me, "Seungri-yah go get her number". But if she is a beautiful woman the hyungs will go get her number personally instead."

He added, "I use the most straightforward way to get their number. I just say, 'Mr. G-Dragon would like to have your number'." Drawing laughter from his confession.

Peruvian fans meet K-pop idols through concert videos

Fans of girl group KARA announce in this poster that they will meet at 1:30 p.m. on June 25 to celebrate the birthdays of two KARA members, Han Seung-yeon and Park Gyu-ri. The poster was displayed in a shop window at Arenales shopping mall in Lima.

LIMA ― Fans living in other parts of Asia embark on a pilgrimage to South Korea to attend their K-pop stars’ performance or meet them in person. K-pop idols conduct performances in Asian countries to reach their fans, helping them have more opportunity to interact with their stars.

Unlike Asian fans, those residing in distant countries such as Peru have fewer opportunities to meet their K-pop idols in person partly because these stars rarely perform there.

Flying to Seoul from Peru takes more than 20 hours, including several hours of downtime when transferring planes, making it difficult for Peruvian fans to visit here.

The distant star-fan relations allowed fans in Latin America to develop their own way of interacting with their idols. Fans meet in a certain venue, for example at a concert hall, on a certain day to watch their K-pop idols’ music videos or DVDs together with other like-minded people.

22-year-old on Korea's Got Talent thinks he's not a good singer

Korea's Got Talent had a special guest for its first episode. Choi Bungsung is a 22-year-old who was left at an orphanage when he was a child. After being beaten by other kids at the orphanage, he ran away at the age of 5. He survived by selling gum and drinks on the streets. Ten years later, he was able to take tests to get his elementary and middle school degrees. The first school he went to was high school.

Although he said he wasn't that much of a singer, stating he just liked to sing because it was the first thing he liked after living on the streets for so many years, Choi Bungsung managed to get the crowd and jury's attention with his strong voice.

Korea's Got Talent is the Korean version of the talent show that started out as a British TV format. It's first episode premiered on July 4th. Actress Song Yoona, Music Director Kolleen Park, and Movie Director Jang Jin were moved by the performance and easily left comments as "I just want to hug you...", "You have an instrument in you. I'd like to have you educated," and "As you hear from audiences, you did great job."

T-ara's Jiyeon displayed her excellent Japanese skills.

On the MBC Mon-Tues drama 'Miss Ripley' episode aired on the 6th, Jiyeon came out as the daughter of the Japanese prime minister.

In the episode, she arrives in Korea but disappears into the hotel. Jang Miri (Lee Dahae's role) then roams around to find the daughter, having to solve the problem by going off to persuade her in person.
