Although allkpop is devoted to bringing you the best of Korean entertainment news, sometimes we can’t help but share up-and-coming talents that we think our readers will love. Meet Dia Frampton, a Hapa (half-Korean, half-white) American singer rapidly on the rise.
Originally from Utah and Las Vegas, the 24 year old graduated early in order to fully concentrate on her music career. Dia has been part of the rock band ‘Meg & Dia‘ with her sister Megan since 2003, with Dia taking on lead vocals and keyboard and Meg with vocals and rhythm guitar. (Listen to their cover of Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness” here!)
Dia Frampton has since gained national fame as a contestant of the first season of NBC’s ‘The Voice‘, advancing through the quarter-finals, semi-finals and season finale to claim the spot of runner-up. Her renditions of “Heartless”, “Losing My Religion” and “Inventing Shadows” (the latter an original by Fraser T. Smith), were the highest charting digital songs on iTunes by a contestant during the voting period of the show, with “Inventing Shadows” even claiming the #1 spot on the charts.

She's so cute ;~; I loved her version of 'Heartless' on the Voice.
It's been a whiiiiile since I've posted anything, I hope I did it all right.
The first 30 minutes is just teasers being replayed over and over again. Then they perform one of their new songs and then there is a talk portion. They sing some bits of their songs acapella when they're introducing the songs on the new album, around 1:10:00. At 1:15:00 they perform some of their older title songs. At 1:22:00 there is a subbed BTS/Making Of. At around 1:36:30 some English greetings (XD) At 1:39:00 they sing their title song. And that's the end! This was streamed yesterday/this morning live on Youtube. The songs and some of the prerecorded videos are subbed in English.
Lee Seung Gi (25) and Han Ga In (30) are flying to London in June.
These two people will be going as the torch bearers for the 2012 Summer Olympics that’s being held in London in July. The official sponsor of the Olympics, Samsung Electronics, is also participating in the sponsorship of the Olympic torch relay. They have chosen Lee Seung Gi and Han Ga In, who have been active as their home appliances’ models for a long time, as the torch bearers. But the date for these two people’s torch relay has not been finalized yet.
Apart from Lee Seung Gi and Han Ga In, Samsung Electronics also plans to select people from the general public through events to participate in the torch relay.
With this, Lee Seung Gi and Han Ga In will be staying busy through June without any rest.

Hong Seok-cheon, who is Korea’s most prominent openly gay entertainer, opened up about his boyfriend on TV, shocking viewers.
In an appearance on Channel A’s talk show “Shocking” yesterday, Hong said that there is someone special in his life.
“He is in his 20s, and because he’s a regular citizen, we are being careful,” Hong said. “He calls me hyeong [an honorific for an older man used by a younger man], and we use formal speech with one another. We tend to stay in, go out for meals and travel overseas.”
Hong also discussed his fall from fame after he was outed in 2002 and told stories from his childhood that had the audience in tears.
After being outed, Hong kept a low profile but rebuilt his life by opening a number of restaurants around Itaewon in central Seoul. In 2003, Hong returned to television with a role in the drama “Perfect Love,” in which he played a character who comes out to his family and friends.

Amid the anticipation of CN Blue’s comeback in March, the band’s vocalist and guitarist Lee Jong Hyun is cast in his first drama. Local news agencies report that he joins the star-studded ensemble of “A Gentleman’s Dignity,” a drama that has already generated buzz for being top star Jang Dong Gun’s first television project in 12 years.
Although “A Gentleman’s Dignity” is his first drama, Lee Jong Hyun has previous acting experience under his belt. He starred in the “Bakery Attack” episode of the 2010 music-themed film “Acoustic." His casting makes two members of CN Blue currently active in acting projects, since drummer Kang Min Hyuk is also in the KBS weekend drama, "My Husband Got a Family."
“A Gentleman’s Dignity” also stars Kim Ha Neul, Kim Soo Ro, Kim Min Jong, Kim Min and Yoon Se Ah. The drama likewise is receiving attention for being written by Kim Eun Sook, who wrote “Secret Garden,” “Lovers in Paris,” “On Air,” and “City Hall.”
The drama is planned for broadcast on SBS beginning in May. Meanwhile, CN Blue is set to kick off the launch of their third mini-album with the release of a track on their official YouTube channel on March 16.
The teaser rubbed me all the wrong ways but idk I like the full song.
It’s every fan’s dream to one day meet their idol. But most would never dream of achieving it through dangerous, deceitful or just plain disrespectful ways. It is clear, at least to me, that the people that partake in sasaeng activities are not real fans, those who support the artist by buying their music, attending their events and wishing them well. These ‘fans’ appear to possess a genuine lack of social awareness, and an inability to empathise, or consider the effects of their behaviour.

There's also a twitition Stop "sasaeng fans" now
Even in his newest film “Gabi” that opens today, he plays that tough-guy role again. Yet according to him in a recent Korea Times interview, working for this period piece set toward the end of the Joseon Kingdom (1392-1910) was a step into new territory as an actor, and an opportunity that could not go amiss.
“Already from the screenplay’s first page, you can tell whether the genre, the character and other details are cut out for you or not. This time, the scenario was incomplete when I first received it. I thought I could really make the role my own,” he said, pointing out the depth of his participation in the creative process with director Chang Yoon-hyun (“The Contact,” 1997 and “Hwang Jin Yi,” 2007, among others).

As reported earlier, the father of JYJ‘s Park Yoochun and actor Park Yoohwan has passed away. When the news broke, Park Yoochun was on a plane headed to the States for a layover after a successful independent JYJ tour in South America and the news did not reach him until much later.
More recently, the Korean media reported photos of a tearful Yoochun dressed in sweats and slippers upon his arrival in Korea.
Upon hearing the news of the funeral service, his fellow JYJ members as well as CJES labelmate Song Ji Hyo did their part to offer condolences to Yoochun and the family. Fellow group members Kim Jaejoong and Kim Junsu were the first to arrive at the funeral location in Seoul. Upon their arrival, they offered their deepest condolences to the family and paid their respect to his father. Additionally, Kim Junsu’s twin brother and singer JUNO also attended the service dressed in a black suit, looking somber and grave.
Fellow label mate Song Ji Hyo was also present, offering her encouragement and condolences to Yoochun and paid her respects to his father.
The father of Park Yoochun & Park Yoohwan has reportedly passed away due to a chronic illness, and Park Yoohwan has currently cancelled all of his filming schedules for his new drama, ‘Strongest K-Pop Survival‘.
We offer our deepest condolences to Park Yoochun, Park Yoohwan, and their entire family. May their father rest in peace.
As the mists lift, a hint of the forbidden comes into view just 10 miles across the rough coastal seas. This is one of South Korea’s frontline outposts, located in the Yellow Sea near the Northern Limit Line, the very edge that divides blood brother and political foe North Korea.
But it was not always this way – before the partition of North and South, the island group was one of four that belonged to the mainland province visible through the mists to the north, now part of an enemy state.
Though cut off from their brethren for six decades, some older island residents still recall a time when they could cross freely. On a cultural level, they carry on a culinary legacy by hosting some of the most authentic versions of a cold noodle dish that also belongs squarely to the North: mul naengmyeon.
On Baengnyeong, in simple restaurants, this icy concoction of buckwheat noodles, beef broth, thinly sliced radishes, and half a boiled egg, is served to a steady stream of island residents, tourists, and South Korean soldiers.
While many visitors are eager to catch a glimpse of the forbidden through binoculars, vestiges of lasting ties lurk beneath the surface of life here. Until relatively recently, visitors from North Korea were said to regularly drift across the precarious waters.
"My film 'Miracle' will be the first Korean film ever shot in Serbia and it will be sensational in Korea," producer T.J. Chung was quoted as saying in a statement by the Serbia Film Association.
The co-production between Korea and Japan tells the story of the internationally-acclaimed South Korean tenor who performed in numerous European operas, but lost his voice at the peak of his career due to thyroid cancer.
"Miracle" will be directed by Kim Sang-Man, while Bae will be played by prominent South Korean actor Yoo Ji-Tae, the association said.
The Serbian Film Association promotes the Balkan nation as an attractive destination for foreign film crews.
In 2010, famed British actor Ralph Fiennes shot his directorial debut, the Shakespearean tragedy "Coriolanus" in which he stars alongside Gerard Butler and Vanessa Redgrave, in Belgrade.
The former Yugoslavia was one of the prime filming destinations for US and European productions during the 1960s and 1970s, thanks to a wide range of locations and cheaper production costs.
Core Contents Media's CEO Kim Kwangsoo announced that there will be a big change coming in April. Revealed today, the current seven member group could become eight or nine. Whether it's an addition of members, or replacing members, is not yet decided.
The purpose isn't to remove or to add but to give the members who give effort and display their skills more opportunities through activities. This is intended to introduce the principle of a competition so the opportunities aren't given to the members who are prideful and lazy.
Kim Kwangoo commented, "I've had 30 years of experience and have done much with singers starting as rookies. After three years as activities as a singer, pride and laziness is effected. Stress becomes a bigger deal and it gets harder. You can't win the competition with this type of mindset. This is what has ruined a lot of singers. If there's no effort or there is no singing skills, the members will not be given parts (measures) to sing."
Kim Kwangsoo also that to take T-ara onto another level and in order to develop the group further, T-ara's music style and concepts will change, including the group members. More information will be released on April 7th.
Meanwhile, T-ara will create a fanclub and hold a concert in July.
