B.A.P. releases comeback image teaser featuring Jongup and Zelo

Following the teaser release of Himchan and Bang Yong Guk yesterday, B.A.P. has returned today with another image of maknaes Jongup and Zelo!

The two are the maknae line of the group having been born in ’95 and ’96 respectively, and just like the previous teaser, the boys are looking fierce against a bright red backdrop with tribal neon paintings. Most noted is Jongup’s hair color change from blonde to black, with his cap being pushed down by what fans have labeled to be Zelo’s “bad manner hands”.

There are nine days left now until their comeback, as B.A.P. will be releasing their digital album and music video on April 27th.

Another IU's Post~

Pre-sale tickets for IU’s ‘Real Fantasy’ concert sell out in 30 minutes

IU demonstrated her popularity once more through the complete sell out of her first ever solo concert, ‘Real Fantasy‘!

Representatives of Loen Entertainment revealed, “Pre-sale went live on APril 17th for the concerts to be held in Seoul, and within 30 minutes, both concert dates totaling to 5,500 seats sold out.”

IU had originally intended for the concert to focus entirely on music and her fans, thus decided to hold smaller concerts in theaters nationwide instead of one big concert at a hall. Although those around her had tried to persuade her from the decision thinking that it would be hard to sell out multiple concerts since she is a solo artist, IU proved that it could work.

Representatives continued, “We’d like to genuinely thank all of the fans for showing such great support for IU’s first concert. We’re going to work hard to prepare a stage that will satisfy everyone looking forward to her concert.”

IU’s concert will kick off in Seoul on June 2nd and 3rd, and then move on to tour six cities nationwide.

Kan believed he was the reason for LeeU's departure

Last year, F.CUZ‘s former member Lee U announced his departure from the group to launch a solo career.

Fellow member Kan finally spoke up on his feelings about the departure in a recent interview with Star News and shared his thoughts on the changes.

The group debuted back in 2010 as a four member group and headlined often because Lee U was the son of legendary singer Sul Woon Do. Lee U left about a year later, however, due to the differences in musical styles, and the group spent a year as a trio before adding Raehyun and Daegun to the group.

Unfortunately in January of last year, Kan suffered a major car accident during his way home from the filming of SBS‘s ‘Athena‘ where he injured his shoulder, nose, and forehead. F.CUZ had to hastily conclude their follow-up promotions.

Kan revealed, “I believe it’s partially my fault that he left the group. When hyung withdrew, I think it was because of my car accident. I was at the hospital when I heard about the decision and I couldn’t help but think to myself, ‘It’s all my fault that this is happening.’ Because of my car accident, things had escalated and had gotten big, even bringing about financial problems.”

He continued, “I felt like an obstacle to the group. After I heard that the group had to abruptly conclude promotions, I thought that my accident had somehow also influenced his decision to leave. At the time of the accident, I had to go in for surgery because of the wounds on my face. When I came out, the members were all waiting for me. I couldn’t look at them in the face and just apologized while crying.”

After confessing that he contemplated suicide out of misery, he stated, “I couldn’t stop thinking that I was doing more harm than good for the members and our company. I was only hearing things through other people so I wanted to hear everything for myself. The only thing I got out of staying in the hospital was time to think, and I knew that I couldn’t just stay like that so I asked to be discharged a month earlier and met with the members to talk.”

When asked what he believes to be the truth behind the situation is, Kan expressed, “I believe I’m partially at fault, but not entirely. Lee U hyung’s parents also disapproved of his career decision and he himself wanted to pursue a different musical style. There were a lot of different reasons, but I only blamed myself at the time, which made it harder.”

Fortunately, Kan still keeps in frequent contact with Lee U. The other members stated, “There wasn’t any discord. We were hurt and upset with his departure, but praying for everyone’s success is the best thing for now.”

F.CUZ will be releasing their third mini-album, ‘For Century Ultimate Zest‘, on April 27th as a fresh start with their two new members.

My name is...B1A4

My name is CNU. My real name is Shin Dongwoo.

I was born on 1991.06.16. I have a noona who is five years older than me.

After hearing ‘Baby I’m Sorry’ for the first time, I was honestly quite surprised. Although I knew that Jinyoung made songs prior to our debut, this song seemed like a really different feel, so I thought, ‘Jinyoungie really must have worked hard this time’. Because he’s the member that knows B1A4 the best, I think that’s why he created a song that fit with us the best.

If ‘O.K’ or ‘Beautiful Target’ expressed confessing, ‘Baby I’m Sorry’ is to express a break up. Because how the members acted was important, we recorded each other with a camera and checked each other’s expressions.

Now that I’m an adult and have succeeded in becoming an actress, I feel regretful for what I did to him especially since he has been waiting for me at the same place ever since.”

South Korea cracks down on online racism

South Korea's media watchdog will be tightening its monitoring and censorship of online racism after an upsurge in such comments following a controversial murder case.

The Yonhap News Agency reported on Wednesday that the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) will boost its monitoring and censorship of racist and discriminatory remarks on online forums after it saw an increase in the number of such sentiments posted online by locals incensed by the alleged murder of a Korean woman by a Korean-Chinese man.

"Ever since the murder in Suwon, expressions of hatred and extreme discrimination have been on the rise. [We] will focus our censorship efforts on this trend," said Nam Hye-Young, a KCSC official overseeing censorship of illegal information, said in the report.

Other similar racist remarks were attributed to people attacking Lee Jasmine, a naturalized Korean from the Philippines, who was elected to the country's parliament in its recent general elections, it added.

The KCSC said it had reviewed and deleted six offensive posts since the start of the year.

Last December, the watchdog tightened the monitoring of social networking sites in a bid to curb illicit content, including North Korean propaganda. A team consisting of eight members were tasked to examine Facebook and Twitter posts and smartphone apps.

S. Korea seeks ways to disable 'silent camera' apps

South Korea is seeking ways to disable smartphone apps that allow users to silently snap photos in a bid to prevent Peeping Toms from secretly photographing women, an official said Wednesday.

Discussions are underway between authorities and handset makers, an official of the Korea Communications Commission told AFP.

"We have recently started discussions with firms like Samsung, LG, Google and Apple regarding whether it's technically possible to disable those apps on their devices," the official said on condition of anonymity.

The move comes amid privacy concerns after a series of crimes involving men secretly taking photos of women.

While there is already a regulation in place making it compulsory for mobile phones to make a sound when a photo is taken there is no such rule for app developers, meaning there are dozens of apps that provide a mute switch.

In June, a man in his 30s was arrested in the southeastern city of Gimhae for secretly taking about 500 pictures under women's skirts by using a "silent camera" app.

South Korea has nearly 25 million smartphone users in a total population of almost 50 million.

Sudden Discussion on Race Grips South Korea

Suddenly, South Korea is having a moment about race.

All through the Korean media and in business lunches and casual conversations, people are talking about race and Korean identity, a civic discussion shaped by the confluence of four news events.

The first was the gruesome murder of a young Korean woman (which hit the front pages in part because of the bungled response of police to her emergency call) by a Korean-Chinese man in Suwon. Then came a shooting spree by a Korean-American in California. Next was the election of a Philippine-born immigrant to the National Assembly. And finally came the approval on Tuesday of a Korean-American as head of the World Bank.

At the center of the civic and media discussion has been a spate of race-tinged criticism and false rumors spreading on Korean Internet sites about Jasmine Lee, the Filipina-Korean who joined the Parliament as a proportional representative from the New Frontier Party after its victory last week.

Girls’ Generation Voted Most Popular Female Singer for First Half of 2012

Lee’s PR, a research company, revealed on April 18th that Girls’ Generation was the most popular female singer in the first half of 2012. 1,329 people voted in the poll, awarding Girls’ Generation 26.9% of the vote. Girls’ Generation beat IU, Wonder Girls, Baek Jiyoung, Lee Hyori and Miss A to the top female singer spot. Other than a slight slip in late 2011 where they fell down to number two, Girls’ Generation have held the number one spot in the “Female Singer” part of the poll since 2009.

The poll results come as Girls’ Generation’s popularity is soaring both in South Korea and worldwide. Their 2nd Asia Tour received international love, but their popularity is not just limited to Asia. The girls travelled to New York to film for “Late Show with David Letterman” and “Live with Kelly”, and also held a fansign event during their visit. The girls then attended “Music Bank in Paris”, further extending their popularity into Europe. Although Girls’ Generation did not promote much in Korea in the first half of 2012, their global activities have made their fanbase even larger, truly making them deserving of the title of “Most Popular Female Singer” of the first half of 2012.

Police book two idol members and issue arrest warrant for singer ‘A’ in Open World investigation

It has been revealed that the police have booked the two idol members mentioned previously, and have issued an arrest warrant for individual ‘A’ in the ongoing investigation against Open World Entertainment‘s CEO.

On April 18th, Seoul Kangnam Police told TVDaily, “We are issuing out a warrant of arrest for the singer ‘A’, who is in his 30s, involved in the case.” They also commented, “The two idol group members have also been booked without detention.

As mentioned before, ‘A’ is reported to be someone who has a personal connection to the Open World Entertainment CEO, but is not under the label.

The police also revealed that they will be concluding the investigations on April 19th to hand over the case to prosecutors.

So far, from what is circulating the Korean media outlets, the above statements seem to have been confirmed. What hasn’t been confirmed is news concerning The Boss, and whether or not they are involved in the case.

According to one media outlet, News1, they have obtained a statement from a source within the police who has stated, “The idol members involved in this case are not from The Boss… The two members involved who carried out the commands by the CEO have been booked.

Considering that News1 is the only one to have acquired this statement from the source, and as other media outlets (at the time of writing) have not made any mention of The Boss, it remains to be seen whether this is valid or not.

In related news, Open World Entertainment once again denied any involvement of their artists, and apologized to the public earlier today through an official statement.
