An Open Letter from International Fans for #ChangeInKorea: Blackface

This is an open letter to all Korean entertainers & South Korea.

Us international fans are fed up with Korean entertainers acting ignorant, insensitive, racist, and dressing up in BLACKFACE makeup, thinking it is funny or a tribute. There is no time or place for this. Many of us international fans are embarrassed and even ashamed by this behavior. Not only that but a lot of us are the people who you choose to make fun of and it hurts us. We are all here because we enjoy aspects of South Korea and Korean Entertainment, but this issue has been nagging us for too long. We need to move forward together united, not divided.

We would like to remind you that through the spread of Hallyu and Kpop, your music and shows aren't confined within the bubble of South Korea. South Korea has emerged to become the world leader in Internet connectivity and speed. You can no longer claim ignorance nor can you hide behind "not being educated" enough on this topic.

Thank you to aleash1989 for suggesting this open letter, & a special thank you to jaejoong for taking time out of their busy schedule to translate. We would also like to thank black-kpop-fans & blackinasia on tumblr for sharing this letter. Please check them out.

We understand this is an emotionally loaded subject, but please try to keep comments in this post respectful.

DISCLAIMER: We are also aware we'll likely receive some level of criticism for hoping our letter could possibly help change anything, but if you're gonna excuse racism in Korea, kindly visit THIS LINK for more information!

"No foreigners allowed" into EXO's comeback show

As you may know, EXO's comeback is today and massive swarms of Exotics have been camped outside of M!Countdown since before 8 AM.
However, after waiting outside for 6-12 hours, all foreigners were suddenly kicked out and told the show was essentially Korean-only.

This girl traveled all the way from Europe only to get the proverbial door slammed in her face because she wasn't Korean.

I'm not an Exotic but I'm pressed because Korea needs to stop going on about their supposed "hallyu wave" when they only care about international fans for the sake of domestic glory.

They film every non-Asian fan in the audience at their concerts like we're some sort of exotic animal, but then proceed to engage in racist skits, blackface, xenophobia, and Korean-only practices at home.

Similar stuff has happened with the SNSD fandom where K-Scones look down at international fans as "roaches".
I just don't understand why they don't treat international fans with respect considering we're the reason the "hallyu" bullshit even exists.

SMH at this entire mess. I'll just be listening to Heart Attack over and over while this all unfolds tbh.

[Rumor Mill] Celebrity diseased actresses, copy cat idols, MC breaking out of his shell

1. Female actress A who's caught the 'top star disease' is awaiting her first drama appearance in a while. A always pretentiously say that she was a "movie star" and considered dramas beneath her. Her self-proclaimed movie title doesn't seem to be working now that she's aged, as she hasn't been receiving any love calls recently, forcing her to turn to drama appearances. For years, she rejected drama castings so the decision is obviously one made with careful consideration. Unfortunately for the drama producers, her sensitive and highly emotional personality is starting to reflect on the set. One insider said, "Drama filmings are generally physically difficult. When we heard that she was cast, we all wondered if she'd be able to handle it. It's not only her first appearance in a while, but the production set is definitely not on par with what she's probably expecting. We're all worried whether A will go on an unannounced hiatus."

AILEE SLAYS YOUR FAVS WITH HER RENDITION OF "HEEYA"

Ailee blew away everyone, including legendary ballad singer Lee Seung Chul, with her cover of "Heeya" on 'Immortal Song 2'.

Her charismatic rendition of the well-known song definitely impressed the crowd, and Lee Seung Chul praised her performance by saying, "My mind is blown... I feel like my territory has been invaded. There would always be an awkwardness when another singer besides me sang this song, but I got the same feeling from Ailee's singing as I do with mine."

Ailee did manage to beat Huh Gak that round, but Ulala Session took the final win this episode.

Definitely one of their more interesting interviews. I have to say I'm appreciating how candid their recent interviews have been, it's really refreshing to read.
