Star Empire Entertainment threatens legal action to companies approaching ZE:A

Star Empire Entertainment has addressed the latest rumors that members of boy group ZE:A are now free agents.

Rumors dictated that ZE:A members Im Siwan, Park Hyungsik, Kwanghee, and Dongjun‘s contracts with Star Empire is set to expire in December, and will most likely become free agents in a few months. Should the rumors hold true, ZE:A’s future as a group is in crisis as they may disband.

On October 20th, the agency revealed that ZE:A despite rumors, all of the members of the group are still under contract which have yet to expire. Star Empire further add a warning that they will take legal action towards any companies approaching the group members while they are still under contract.

However, it should be noted that if ZE:A’s contract expiration are three months away, companies are legally allowed to approach the members and vice versa.

ZE:A debuted as a nine member group in 2010 with their last group album release in September 2015. Many of the members are currently busy with individual activities while Minwoo is serving in the military as of September 15, 2015.

Which TWICE Member Does SHINee’s Onew Pick As His Ideal Type (For Today)?

SHINee member Onew gives a witty response to an otherwise difficult question.

SHINee, who returned in early October with “1 Of 1,” guest on the October 20 episode of the KBS 2TV variety show “Happy Together.”

On this broadcast, Onew is asked who his ideal type is, to which he deftly responds, “My ideal type changes every day. It is to the point that I don’t even know myself.”

When asked who it is for today, he replies, “TWICE member Nayeon is my ideal type.” Yoo Jae Suk retorts, “During your interview with writers before the recording, you had said it was TWICE’s Tzuyu. It changed already!”

The other SHINee members cover for him, saying. “It is better that his ideal type is changing frequently than for his girlfriend to be changing frequently.” Onew then reveals that it has been two to three years since his last relationship.

South Korea becoming a major player in Asia's fashion markets

(x) I just wanted to use this pic bc their faces are hilarious lol

What South Korea’s fashion market lacks in scale, it makes up for in influence, thanks to the continuing cool factor of both Korean brands and ‘Brand Korea.’

SEOUL, South Korea — No-one in fashion would dispute the importance of Asia’s fourth largest economy. The numbers simply speak for themselves. But outside fashion’s inner sanctum, there is a sense that the value placed on this nimble nation is somehow disproportionately high. So much that it seems like the world’s fashion leaders are watching the Korean market through rose-tinted lenses.

Seen next to the numbers pumped out by fashion in Japan and China, Korea doesn’t stack up to its nearest Asian neighbours by any tangible measure. In terms of growth, sales or reliable spending figures, it doesn’t even come close and it probably never will. Yet in spite of its relatively small size and a recent economic slowdown, Korea has infiltrated the fashion industry’s 'A League' of Asian markets.

Have you adopted any Korean fashion styles or items, Omona? What are your favorite looks/designers from Seoul Fashion Week? I still really love PUSHBUTTON's bomb pop print they did a few years ago.

Censorship Ruling On Controversial “Moonlight Drawn By Clouds” Scenes Announced

The Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) has come to a decision regarding a kiss scene and a changing scene in the KBS2 drama “Moonlight Drawn By Clouds.”

It was previously reported that a scene from episode one, when Kim Yoo Jung’s character, Hong Ra On, is changing clothes and is shown wrapping her chest with bandages in order to disguise herself as a boy, was under review by the KCSC after viewers sent in complaints, saying it was overly revealing because Kim Yoo Jung is a minor. Along with that scene, the kiss scene between Park Bo Gum and Kim Yoo Jung was also under review.  On October 19 KST, the KCSC announced that it will send KBS an official recommendation regarding these types of scenes. It explained, “Fundamentally speaking, it is wrong to cast a minor when there is a revealing scene or kiss scene in the script. If an adult had performed these scenes, there would be no problem at all.”

Actress Kim Yoo Jung is currently 16 years old. According to broadcast standards and laws, anyone under 19 is considered a minor. The KCSC stated, “The biggest problem is whether a minor can play an adult role. One might say that since the standards are ambiguous anyway, why not just let it go, but if we go easy on Kim Yoo Jung, who is 16 years and 10 months, then later on, there will be questions on whether we should let a 15-year-old do the same thing. We need to discuss whether we can continue to let minors play adult roles. We are worried about young adults being provocatively exposed.”

*Although Kim Yoo Jung was born in 1999, the statement from KCSC states that she is 16 years old and 10 months, which is almost 17 years old, because 2016 hasn’t finished yet.

What do you think about the KCSC’s decision?

Lay clarifies that it's not SM's fault he fainted

Article: EXO Lay, "I fainted by my own fault... please don't blame the agency"
Source: TV Report via Nate

1. [+390, -51] That's cool of him to clarify

2. [+286, -22] Three have already backstabbed and left under the guise of being sick. Lay's actually the only Chinese member still with the team right now so why should he be the butt of jokes? ㅋㅋ It's really barbaric and racist to make fun of someone who fainted because he was actually sick. (looking @ u ARMY)

3. [+184, -11] Well agencies are an easy target of blame for idol fans. When anything bad happens, just blame it on the agency or the CEO. When something good happens, it's because their oppas are so awesome and fans worked so hard. It's good that Lay clarified that it's not the agency's fault. I hope he takes care of his health from now on. Fainting so suddenly like that is really dangerous.

4. [+29, -1] If only all the Chinese members were like Lay...

5. [+27, -9] What a nice kid... angel Lay

Is Your Fave Group's Contract Expected to Expire Next Year?

In just a few months, a new year will begin. It will bring not only exciting new promotions from our favorite K-Pop groups, but possibly heart-wrenching news.

In the last few years, we saw the contract renewals of several beloved idols including Super Junior, who also gained their own independent label known as Label SJ, and Girls’ Generation, Wonder Girls, 2PM and among others.

However, some groups chose not to renew this year, with some members either parting ways from the group and agency. Aside from Youngji, KARA disbanded following contract expiration of Gyuri, Seungyeon and Hara earlier in 2016. Then, 2AM unofficially disbanded after only Jokwon remained with the label — save Changmin whose contract was not nearing its end date yet.

jonghyun clarifies former comments about shinee's "business" relationship on happy together

On October 20’s episode of “Happy Together,” SHINee has the chance to talk a bit about the true nature of their relationship as a group.

Host Yoo Jae Suk asks Jonghyun to clarify what he previously meant when he said that SHINee had been formed for business reasons. Jun Hyun Moo expresses his shock at the comment, but the guys ask why that’s surprising.

“We came together for work,” explains Jonghyun. “We didn’t know each other before we joined the agency.” Yoo Jae Suk responds that after nine years together, some groups might not describe their relationship as business-like.

Jonghyun then asks him when he and Park Myung Soo met, and Yoo Jae Suk admits that they met because of work twenty years ago. “So you got closer while you worked together,” points out Jonghyun. “Your relationship was formed on the basis of your work.”

“We’re the same way,” he goes on to say. “We’re extremely close.”

Minho admits, “When I first heard that Jonghyun said that, I thought, ‘Why did he have to say it like that?’ I was a bit upset. But if you try to understand the meaning behind what he said, it’s that we were like that in the beginning, but now we are both loyal and close to each other. It’s because of work that we have this relationship.”

In response, Jonghyun smiles, seemingly pleased that Minho understood, and Key bumps him with his elbow playfully while Onew nods.

Z.Hera shares hilarious 'Scarlet Heart: Ryeo' story about EXO's Baekhyun

The October 18 episode of "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo" saw Z.Hera and EXO's Baekhyun's characters meet a tragic end, but according to the actress, filming their final scene was actually quite the hilarious experience.

Speaking to Star News, Z.Hera revealed that filming her and Baekhyun's final scene together required the two to lie down on sand for hours, so much so that Baekhyun joked that he felt like he was kissing sand: "When I think about it now, that scene was very difficult because Baekhyun oppa and I had to lay down on the sand for several hours. And because we were laying down there for so long, Baekhyun oppa ate so much sand that he jokingly said he felt like he was kissing the sand. But [even though it was difficult] it was fun."

But according to Z.Hera, the funniest moment came during the filming of their death scene because while she had trouble trying to act "dead", Baekhyun had no issue because he decided to go to sleep instead!

"The director told me that I'm good at lying still. I received many compliments because I didn't even have a single eye movement. It was really hard, though. I had to take all my energy out and couldn't have any shaking in my eyelids." On the other hand, Z.HERA said, "Baekhyun oppa was just sleeping. He had another schedule the day before the scene, so he just slept and I tried my best at playing dead."

What did you think about Z.Hera and Baekhyun's final appearance on ‘Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo’?

Kang Ha-Neul admits he is a big fan of co-star Lee Joon Ki

South Korean actor Kang Ha Neul just revealed that he is a big fan of ‘Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo’ co-star Lee Joon Gi. In a recent interview, the 26-year-old actor talked about his experiences filming the historical drama.

"I've been a fan of Lee Joon-gi since I was young and he's an actor I really look up to," Kang said in a statement obtained by The Kpop Herald. "It was just a great joy to work beside him."

Ka Ha Neul further revealed that he was delighted when he found out that he will be working alongside the actor he admired. And for that reason alone, he contacted Lee Joon Ki's agency to ask for his contact number, which paved way to the two actors to become close. Kang candidly added that he was surprised that the "Scholar Who Walks the Night" actor was glad that he got his number and contacted him like a stalker. The said incident remains as a funny memorable story between the Kang Ha Neul and Lee Joon Ki.

Kang also spilled some beans about getting to know Lee Ji-Eun, also known as IU. Since he only knew her through music, the actor thought that it would be a bit hard to break the ice. "But she has such a great personality and we just naturally kicked it off," Kang explained. "We're also in a similar age group so it was easy relating to each other."

Kang also discussed the inspiration behind his character's thoughts on arranged marriages, family expectations and falling in love with Hae-Soo (IU) in the drama. He said that "reasoning" is a conclusive factor in completely immersing himself into the role of Wang Wook.

Kang revealed that he always place himself in Wang Wook's shoes and envisioned himself under his character's pressures to justify the reasons behind his behavior and actions. The reason for an arranged marriage, the reason behind falling in love with Hae-Soo and later the explanation behind his changed in character.

Lee Joon Ki talks about ‘Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo’ and his acting career

Lee Joon Ki, who portrayed the role of fourth prince Wang So in the hit series "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo," recently graced the "Singles" magazine for a photo shoot. During the interview, Lee Joon Ki shared his thoughts about his drama series and his acting career.

Apparently, Lee Joon Ki is a bit worried about "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo's" TV ratings considering the fact that it has a Chinese version which gained massive success. "I have worries about the TV ratings," the actor admitted. According to reports, the Korean version is not doing very well in terms of TV ratings as compared to its Chinese predecessor. This made the actor somehow feel sad, saying, "I feel sad. All the actors and staff worked so hard. Everyone worked so hard."

Despite the said decline in viewership, "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" has been getting quite positive feedbacks and has been welcomed warmly by fans locally and internationally. Lee Joon Ki's outstanding performance has been noticed by many and gained praises as well.

With all the admiration given to him, the actor continues to work hard and seek for improvement. "I have no regrets. As a leading role, I must have a sense of responsibility with its success, including TV ratings. As I watch this drama, I am looking for what it is lacking."

Lee Joon Ki also added that he takes everything constructively, be it criticisms or positive comments. He also watched other dramas to get tips on how to improve more. "Not just my works, but I watch almost all dramas and movies that are out to analyze what people like, why certain dramas have high ratings, and why some don't do as well. It helps me be a better actor for the next work and also helps me to select scripts."

Lee also revealed his acting is on top of his priorities, noting that he wants to improve his craft before settling down. With that, the actor is said to be ready to take on his next role for "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" in 2017, Drama Fever reported.

The Korean actor will play as Commander Lee in the upcoming Hollywood film. Reports suggested Lee will only have a special appearance, however, the actor consider it as a good experience to improve in his acting. "I have been acting for more than 10 years now, but there's still a lot I want to show everyone. I haven't met my true character yet. I hope to in the future," Lee said.

When questioned about plans to get married, he responded, "I have my priorities. I want to be settled as an actor first. It's not just about performing well as an actor. I think a lot about how I can be chosen by the public consistently...Yes, I do feel frustrated with myself sometimes too."

Moon Lovers garners 1.8 Billion views on Chinese streaming site Youku

Despite the negative reviews it received after the premiere, the SBS period drama has become one of the most talked about shows in and around Asia. It did not just cross a billion views in China, but also become the most popular Korean mini-series of this year in Singapore and Malaysia.

The latest statistical reports indicate that the period drama achieved 73 per cent of time-slot among the four Korean entertainment channels in Singapore and Malaysia, according to Hello Kpop.

Meanwhile, citing the reasons for the increase in viewership, Virginia Lim, Senior Vice President and Head of Content, Production & Marketing, Sony Pictures Television Networks, stated that extensive promotional and publicity efforts have led to the success of Moon Lovers. "The thrill of being able to catch the drama at the same time as Korea for the first time ever in Southeast Asia has helped to boost Scarlet Heart's ratings," Lim explained.
