SNSD Discusses Contract Renewals

Trans:

This month's marks the 10th anniversary of the group Girls' Generation.

According to the music industry on the 16th, eight members of the Girls' Generation are currently discussing the renewal of their contract with SM, which is scheduled to expire. Many members have renewed their contracts, and the rest of the members are also discussing positively.

A member of an aide said, "Some of the members are still talking to the company." I do not know what variables will be there yet, but I think the members will continue to work as they feel proud that they have been in good condition for 10 years. "

On August 5, 2007, Girls' Generation, who made their debut with the popular single 'Into The New World', was called a full-fledged girl group by gathering SM's planning power leading to casting, training, producing and management.

They have a lot of hits such as 'Gee', 'Tell Me Your Wish', 'Oh!' And 'I GOT A BOY'. They have been active as a representative group of K-Pop's Hallyu Wave.

In the first 'YouTube Music Awards' held in 2013, SNSD was the only Asian singer to be awarded 'Music Video of the Year'. So far, 6 music videos on YouTube have exceeded 100 million views. Last month, SNSD was voted number one in the top 10 K-pop girls group by Billboard.

In spite of the disbanding of second generation girl groups such as 2NE1, Wonder Girls, 4Minute, and SISTAR, they announced their lastest 6th full album, "Holiday Night" celebrating their 10th anniversary on the 4th.

UPDATE (by me):

Apparently articles of positive contract renewals are media play by SM to pressure the girls into signing contracts that will disadvantage them. The short promotions and their sudden halt is also being used against them.

Sones are a mess right now, rumors and theories are spreading like wildfire but now at least SM's extra shitty promotions this time around make a bit more sense.

Insider's Take On the SNSD Situation.

Bringing you up to speed

SM’s contracts and negotiations were under wraps for the most part until I posted about how it worked, and luckily as it’s become common knowledge it makes my job easier.

- SM usually start their idols off on a 5 year contract.

- Idols are then usually offered 3 year extension deals with wholly different terms from their first contract (read: a lot better for them).
- Idols are made to negotiate individually.

- In SNSD’s case, like with almost all idols, their parents get involved with the negotiation (because Korean system of seniority and hierarchy makes negotiation between the agency and young adults very difficult).

- Terms are loosely “renegotiated” at the beginning of every year of their employment, using the original contract as a framework.

- Actual renewal negotiations are also done during the beginning of the year that it expires (so for SNSD, 2014 and 2017).

January is a pretty tense month for every idol under SM.

just another day being a soshi stan: SNSD edited out of DMZ Peace Concert + more fuckery

On August 15, MBC aired the pre-recorded “DMZ Peace Concert” held over the weekend.

Artists that participated in the recording included Girls’ Generation, K.Will, Ailee, BTOB, B1A4, GFRIEND, MAMAMOO, ASTRO, and Cosmic Girls. However, Girls’ Generation’s performance was not aired on broadcast.

In response, MBC commented via Weibo, “SM Entertainment requested for Girls’ Generation’s appearance to be edited out from the ‘DMZ Peace Concert’ which aired on August 15,” and added, “Please ask SM Entertainment on further questions regarding this matter.”

Sones are also reporting that no more Holiday albums will get produced because SM is shit and doesn't want it, eventhough the demand is high.

Collapse )

But hey, that's not all! According to rumors the girls didn't know that they would only promote for one week, they found out through the notice that went up on their fanboard. They were supposed to promote for at least 2 weeks. No one really knows why SM decided to cancel plans and cut it short.

Jessica said, “Meetings and farewells are inevitable.” Then, showed unwavering support for her younger sister by saying, “I am always on my sister’s side. Honestly, I think it must have been overwhelming. Breakup news is more uncomfortable than dating news.”

M.O.L.A posts “CHILLIN’ (REMIX),” adds new members

M.O.L.A is a collective made up of Jimin Park (15&), Uniq's Luizy, Nathan Rivr—who I could find nothing else on, barring his stage name and that he's '97 line—and now Seventeen's Vernon and Pentagon's Kino. This remix is their introductory track, and both of them are now included in M.O.L.A's soundcloud bio. They're the newest additions since 2015, when M.O.L.A was formed.

Luizy and Nathan both have soundclouds, while Jimin uses just M.O.L.A's, but the guys don't upload on them too often and most are reposts from the main account.

I'm honestly overwhelmed because it's the first time they are so open about it. I hope they don't feel pressured to talk about it but after seeing and listening to all of their posts and little radio speech, I guess it was indeed their decision and they're feeling more comfortable now. It's still difficult and everyone's still hurting but I am sure Rise felt our love and support
I hope it's working now ;;
