Shiny Foundation funds Medical Costs of SSAW's Jeon Tae Gwan

The Federation of Korean Music Performers (hereafter FKMP) and the Shiny Foundation, the foundation established by the family of SHINee’s Jonghyun, have revealed that they will help fund medical costs for SSAW’s Jeon Tae Gwan.

The FKMP has its own medical cost fund, but it has also launched an “emergency living expense support project” for members with the help of the Shiny Foundation. Jeon Tae Gwan is currently battling against cancer, and when the news broke recently that his wife passed away, the Shiny Foundation and FKMP made the decision to help cover his medical costs.

Jeon Tae Gwan underwent surgery for renal cancer in 2012, and he was forced to halt his musical activities in 2014 when the cancer spread to his shoulder bone. Since then, the cancer has spread to other parts of his body and he has been focusing on treatment. His fellow SSAW member Kim Jong Jin is currently promoting a tribute album that not only celebrates the group’s 30th anniversary, but will also help cover Jeon Tae Gwan’s medical costs.

The Shiny Foundation was established by the family of SHINee’s Jonghyun, who was also a member of the FKMP. They are funded by copyright fees collected from Jonghyun’s music and aim to help musicians who are struggling due to financial difficulties and lack of support. The foundation was created in September 2018 to carry on the legacy of Jonghyun, who passed away on December 18, 2017.

Momoland's Jane confirms that she was a fansite master for Infinite's L

Momoland's Jane appeared on SBS PowerFM’s “Youngstreet” on November 1 with photographer Ahn Tae Young. Along with special DJ and WINNER member Kang Seung Yoon, the three talked about their shared love of photography and cameras. While talking about photography, Kang Seung Yoon asked Jane whether it was true that she had taken photos of a singer before her debut as his fan. It has been widely speculated that Jane was once a “home master,” a Korean term for a fan who runs a web page for their idol and takes photos and video of the celebrity, for INFINITE’s L.

Jane responded by stating, “To be honest, this is actually the first time I’m personally talking about it. Everyone has an artist that they like. Because I love photography, I wanted to capture my favorite artist’s moments through my camera.” Jane also revealed that her speciality is in portraits.

The idol also revealed that her love of photography stems from her father. She explained, “My father used to be a photographer when he was younger. Ever since I was little, he would take photos of me and I would play around with the cameras too. Because of that, I naturally grew an interest for photography.”

Media Labor Rights Center Calls Out Production Companies For Not Complying With Labor Laws

Hanbit Media Labor Rights Center (hereafter Hanbit Center) has stated that several dramas and their production companies have not been adhering to labor laws and guidelines. On October 30, Hanbit Center reported several companies to be in violation of the Labor Standards Act to the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Administration. The companies included CJ ENM, Studio Dragon, Kim Jong Hak Production, iWILL Media, and CRAVE Works.

Though Hanbit Center had established a production guideline last July that restricted the total number of working hours in one week to be 68 hours, the center revealed that dramas such as “The Player” and “The Guest” have habitually carried out long shoots of up to 100 hours a week.

According to Hanbit Center, in the case of OCN drama “The Player,” on October 9 at 9 p.m. KST, a camera staff member suddenly fainted due to continuous labor. The staff member was sent to the emergency room in an ambulance. Some of the staff members revealed that as they were paid their wages per episode, they received the same wages whether they worked eights hours or 23 hours.
