Trash Yoochun Receives Probation Sentence For Purchasing And Using Drugs + Apologizes To Fans

Park Yoochun has received a sentence for violating the Narcotics Control Act.

On July 2 at 10 a.m. KST, a sentencing hearing for Park Yoochun was held at the Suwon District Court. Several fans were in attendance.

During the previous hearing on June 14, prosecutors requested a year and six months in prison and 1.4 million won (approximately $1,182) in fines for Park Yoochun.

At the recent hearing on July 2, the court stated, “[Park Yoochun] is charged with purchasing 1.5 grams of Philopon with Hwang Ha Na and injecting [the drug] on seven occasions. He is confessing to his crime, and he admits to being guilty of all charges.”

Park Yoochun was given a 10-month prison sentence suspended for two years of probation and treatment and fined 1.4 million won (approximately $1,182). This means that if he commits an offense during the two-year probation period, he will receive a 10-month prison sentence.

[Trigger Warning] Criticism rises over leniency towards child rapist

Criticism is mounting over a recent high court ruling that commuted a prison term for a child rapist.

The court said the 10-year-old victim's testimony was insufficient to prove there was "enough threat and physical assault" that made the victim unable to defend herself ― which would constitute a rape charge.

In the June 13 ruling, the Seoul High Court handed down a three-year jail term to the offender, a cram school teacher surnamed Lee, 35. The sentence was reduced drastically from an earlier term of eight years given by a local court.

JYP Entertainment might close their actor division



On July 2, industry representatives reported that JYP Entertainment is preparing to conclude management of actors and that the current actors under the company will become free agents soon.

The reports stated that the company is discussing steps to take for the actors and staff under the division.

In response to the reports, JYP Entertainment responded, “We are reviewing various possibilities.”

Actors currently housed under JYP Entertainment include Shin Ye Eun, Kim Dong Hee, Yoon Park, Jang Hui Ryoung, Park Gyu Young, Ryu Won, Jung Gun Joo, Kang Hoon, Kim Ji Min, Shin Eun Soo, Park Si Eun, and more.

Tom Holland makes a hospital visit in Seoul



When Spiderman started his Seoul promotional tour on June 29, he kept one mission secret from the Korean press and public ― a visit to cheer up sick children at Seoul National University Hospital.

British actor Tom Holland, who gives life to the Marvel Comics hero, paid the surprise visit to the children's hospital inside the large medical compound in Jongno District on Monday. He was almost fully in character ― wearing the tight Spiderman outfit and pretending to shoot webs from his wrists ― but he did not wear the mask.

As part of hospital infection-control etiquette, he donned a face mask and covers for his feet.

Jang Ki Yong And Im Soo Jung On Why They’re Excited To Work Together In New Drama “Search: WWW”

-Jang Ki Yong and Im Soo Jung for High Cut Magazine talked about their new drama, and working together.

-“When I first received and read the script, I thought that it was a female character I hadn’t really seen before in Korean dramas,” said Im Soo Jung in an accompanying interview. “I felt like it was quite rare.”

-"Ki Yong matches really well with his character Park Mo Gun in ‘Search: WWW.’ Compared to other actors his age, Ki Yong has a calm, mature side to him in real life. We have good teamwork while acting, so I’m curious as to how our chemistry will be perceived by viewers. I know that Ki Yong has many fans, and I think that he’ll have even more fans after the drama ends.”

-Jang said that the Im projecs he liked were, ‘Finding Mr. Destiny,' ‘I’m Sorry, I Love You,' and ‘I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK.' And that it feels fascinating and exciting getting to work with her on the show.

-“[My character] doesn’t really have a cold or scary side. I can say that he’s the brightest character out of the ones I’ve portrayed so far. New charms seep out of him every time, and I also look forward to what he’ll do every time the script comes out.”

Shinhwa's Minwoo reportedly booked for sexual harassment today



News outlet Dong-A Ilbo reports that Shinhwa’s Minwoo (Lee Min Woo) has been booked by police under suspicion of sexual harassment of two women, including kissing by force.

A source from the Seoul Gangnam Police Station reportedly stated on July 2 that Minwoo has been booked and is being investigated. The police stated that Minwoo is under suspicion of committing indecent assault on two women in their 20s who were sitting at the next table at a bar in the district of Gangnam. It’s said that this allegedly occurred when Minwoo was drinking with celebrity colleagues on the morning of June 29, and Minwoo was already acquainted with the two women.

After the drinking party ended, one of the women reportedly went to a local police station at 6:44 a.m. KST and reported that she had been sexually harassed. She told the police, “I went to a drinking party and was severely sexually harassed.” She stated, “Lee grabbed on to both my cheeks and kissed me by force. He also touched certain parts of my body.”

Dong-A Ilbo reports that Minwoo has not yet been questioned by the police.
