Adieu Real Time Charts (as we know it), Melon announces upcoming major changes to chart system

The most major change will be made to the realtime chart. Currently, the realtime top 100 chart updates every hour based on the amount of hourly usage for each song. With the new change, the chart will still update every hour, but the chart will instead be calculated based on the number of unique users over the past 24 hours.(12pm-12pm, 1pm-1pm, etc) The ranking numbers will also not be shown (#1 to #100 etc) and there will be no more rank changes in the charts (how many places moved up/down).

Another change will be made for those who use the “play all” feature with the top 100 chart. Previously, the “play all” feature would add the top 100 songs to the user’s playlist in the order that the songs are ranked on the chart, and a “shuffle all” option was recently added in early May. With the upcoming change, the songs will be shuffled by default when using the “play all” feature.”

Melon explained that these changes are being made to decrease focus on the competition and allow users to discover a more diverse range of trending music. The music site plans to continue seeking more ideas to improve its system.

The new chart system is expected to go into effect this summer.

Football league to discuss discipline for club over sex dolls in stands

*a follow up to this post*

The South Korean football league will open disciplinary proceedings against a top-division club for putting sex dolls in the stands for a recent match.

The Korea Professional Football League (K League) said late Tuesday it will soon convene a disciplinary meeting over FC Seoul's use of lifesize dolls in place of spectators for Sunday's match against Gwangju FC at Seoul World Cup Stadium.

K League matches are being played without fans due to coronavirus concerns. In an ill-advised attempt to create a match-like atmosphere, FC Seoul brought in over a dozen mannequins that turned out to be sex dolls.

Lovelyz's Su-jeong unveils untapped charisma in "Tiger Eyes"

K-pop girl band Lovelyz has a name that perfectly suits the group. Since its debut in 2014, the eight-piece act has been an icon of loveliness, with most of its music creating a saccharine mood with a touch of pensiveness.

So when member Ryu Su-jeong first heard that she had to transform herself into a charismatic woman for her solo debut, she felt a big challenge was at hand.

"I almost lost my mind when I learned about the album's concept and was really worried at first," Ryu said during an interview with The Korea Times at a cafe in Mapo-gu, Seoul, Tuesday.

Timeline of Itaewon COVID-19 outbreak and ‘97 line scandal + Jaehyun&Eunwoo's handwritten apologies

Ahnme from r/kpopthoughts wrote up a well-researched timeline of the Itaewon COVID-19 outbreak and the '97 line scandal:

Even though bars were already open in Seoul, '97 line was idiotic for going out and they deserve people expressing their anger or disappointment. But I've also seen some over-the-top hate and some over-the-top "oppa didn't do it" fan reaction that is based on misinformation or just unclear information, so this timeline is a really good overview with all the facts!

As a freshman in the college of music, Ji Soo didn’t expect to catch the eye of Han Jae Hyun (Park Jinyoung), a popular, headstrong law school student, but she did. Falling for him as quickly as he fell for her, the two experienced one of the most beautiful moments any two people can experience together: their first love. But like so many first loves, theirs wouldn’t last forever.

Now in her forties, Ji Soo (Lee Bo Young) is a single mother, working a contract job in a desperate attempt to make ends meet. Jae Hyun (Yoo Ji Tae), on the other hand, is a successful, ambitious businessman who has pursued wealth and honor, above all else. Far different than the man he once was, Jae Hyun is hardly recognizable as the headstrong kid he used to be. But when fate brings Ji Soo back into his life, she recognizes him almost immediately.

Suddenly back in each other’s lives, Ji Soo and Jae Hyun have been granted a rare opportunity to start over. But can two people really separated by so many years and experiences, really reignite a flame that flickered out so many years ago?

A story of first loves and second chances, “When My Love Blooms” is a 2020 romantic drama directed by Song Jung Hyun.

(TW) The identity of the founder of the Nth room "God God" was released to the public

A 24-year-old alleged mastermind of a high-profile digital sexual exploitation ring was forced to stand in front of the public Monday following an earlier police decision to disclose his identity.

Moon Hyung-wook, a university student, appeared before reporters at the Andong Police Station in Andong, 270 kilometers southeast of Seoul, in the afternoon before being handed over to the prosecution for further investigation and an indictment.

He was put under pretrial detention on May 9 for creating and operating 12 chatrooms on the messaging service Telegram, which allowed paid members to view illegally taken photos and videos of violent sex acts involving underage girls.

The man is accused of blackmailing about 50 women since one or two years ago into providing approximately 3,000 sexual materials, such as photos and videos, for distribution and sale via the 12 chatrooms, including eight that operated under the name "Nth Room."
