Or as a K-net said: "Using IU for this promotional song feels like breaking a walnut with a Thor hammer".

BTS release new song "Stay Gold" and break record in Japan

The Japanese version of BTS's latest album "Map Of The Soul: 7" titled "The Journey" will be released on 15th July and one of the two exclusive songs, "Stay Gold", is out now!

Good news, with 429 000 sales in only 6 months, BTS finally remove known pedophile Michael Jackson and his "Thriller" from the Japan Oricon album top chart by a foreign artist, 36 long years later.

What do you think of the song? It's a cute pop song perfect for summer. The chorus reminds me of another song but I can't put my finger on it.

Flashback Friday

It’s Friday! Today I put on some sparkly pink eyeshadow to go buy dog food because why the fuck not. Every week I search the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going to see what was on top for the 3rd week of June, 2009.

#3 Lee Seung Gi “Will You Marry Me”
I don’t remember this song at all, and the only thing I know is it was a digital single that won some year end awards. Also used in a lot of fan made shipping vids lol. Here’s a live stage at MBC Gayo featuring MC Mong, and ending on bended knee in front of actress Lee Boyoung. She was totally with (and still is) Ji Sung though, which is the way I would personally go if I had the choice lol.

From the ashes of Bulldok comes new girl group Peace!

Peace, consisting of members Sora, Say, Hyungeun and Yulim, just made their debut! They're from Krazy Entertainment, formerly home to girl groups Oahsis and Aqua (both of which only ever released one single... fingers crossed for Peace?) Say and Hyungeun got their start on Produce 101's first season, and later debuted in the group Bulldok along with Sora. Unfortunately, Bulldok also only released one single in 2016 before disbanding.

While Peace's single "Yallacha" doesn't have an MV, it seems they're going for something lighter and more colorful than their tough image from before. The song is a by-the-books example of the tropical house trend that's been so popular in recent years, for better or worse. It's worth checking out if you're into that sound!

EDIT: So they actually debuted/released this song in April 2019... 😂 oops @ my research skills, but it was never posted here so here, they existed and maybe still do?

Seventeen get dragged into the Big Hit & MBC beef and will not appear on Music Core

- Today, Pledis announced that Seventeen will not appear on Music Core for this comeback.
- It is well-known that Big Hit and the Music Core PD (who also produces the MBC Gayo) have (unofficial) beef. I read reasons from the Gayo giving the final stage to EXO in 2018 to the PD feeling slighted because BTS chose to perform in NY instead of the MBC Gayo 2019. Fair to say, it's petty politics at this point and probably some wounded male pride on both sites.
- Music Core staff are saying that they actually invited Seventeen and are posting dramatically about listening to "Don't Wanna Cry" on their weibo.
- The beef only affects Music Core and possibly the MBC Gayo. Seventeen still promote on MBC shows like Radio Star this week.

SBS clarifies TWICE fancam controversy, claims audio was an ad copy from a shopping app CF

SBS has released an official explanation about malicious rumors that staff criticized TWICE's stage. SBS' YouTube channel 'SBS Kpop' clarified the rumors in a statement shared at the end of TWICE's encore video that aired on the 14th.
SBS Kpop stated, "There are rumors that SBS staff criticized TWICE's 1st place encore performance today. To get to the point, this was a simple happening [coincidence] but we want to apologize first for posting the video without organizing the audio."

According to SBS, the controversial audio mixed in the "fancam" video was a copy of CM's advertisement that aired after the main broadcast of 'Inkigayo'. When the voice in the ad "complete my intellectual image" was mixed in with TWICE's encore stage fancam, some netizens speculated it was the staff's backbiting, causing rumors to spread.

SBS stated, "If someone criticized your favorite singer without any grounds you'd be angry. We apologize for not paying enough attention causing such a misunderstanding to happen to someone you love. SBS Kpop team feels the same way as the fans do. We apologize to TWICE, JYP and the fans."

Prosecutors request a fine for Yang Hyun Suk's gambling + dismiss "hwanchigi" charges

Former YG Entertainment chief producer Yang Hyun Suk (51) has been indicted on "summary orders." According to a Yonhap News report on the 14th, the Criminal Affairs Department of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors Office requested the court to issue a summary judgement to Yang Hyun Suk on May 26th.

A summary indictment is a procedure where prosecutors request a fine to be imposed only on written hearings instead of formal trials. If the parties or the court do not express their intention to file a formal trial, the sentence will be confirmed through the summary order (fine).

Police forwarded Yang Hyun Suk to prosecution for habitual gambling but the prosecution has made the decision to indict him on summary orders instead. A prosecution official stated, "considering the number of times he actually gambled, we're not able to establish habitual gambling charges. We're not able to disclose the fine amount requested."

As for Yang Hyun Suk's illegal foreign exchange charges of borrowing gambling funds in U.S dollars and paying them back in Korean won aka "hwanchigi", the official stated, "we have dismissed the charges of violating the foreign exchange transaction law due to insufficient evidence to prove the charges."
