SONAMOO’s Nahyun And Sumin Win 1st Trial Over Contract Termination, TS Entertainment Appeals Ruling

The court ruled in favor of SONAMOO’s Nahyun and Sumin in their lawsuit against TS Entertainment, and the agency has filed an appeal.

In May of 2019, Nahyun and Sumin sent a certification of contents to TS Entertainment to terminate their contracts. When the agency reportedly refused to carry out the termination, Nahyun and Sumin filed a lawsuit in August to affirm the non-existence of their exclusive contracts. In response, TS Entertainment said it would take legal action against the two members and the group would promote in the future without them. Sumin wrote that the agency had not provided them with their requested settlement data regarding their lack of payment, had talked badly about them to the other SONAMOO members, kicked them out of their dorms, and more.

On September 15, the law firm Yehyun representing Nahyun and Sumin confirmed that the court ruled in favor of Nahyun and Sumin on September 10. According to the ruling, their exclusive contracts with TS Entertainment have been terminated.

TS Entertainment filed a written appeal on September 14, meaning the legal dispute will continue. The date for the appellate trial has not yet been set.

Polaris' Appeal in Compensation Case Dismissed by Court + LOONA start teasing their comeback

The court has dismissed an appeal made by LOONA’s parent company Polaris Entertainment against global IT company Donuts.

Previously, Blockberry Creative’s second-largest shareholder, Donuts, invested 3.5 billion won (approximately $2,964,500) in Polaris Entertainment, but the agency did not fulfill the investment contract. In the first trial, the court ruled that Polaris Entertainment must return the full investment, and the entertainment company filed an appeal.

In February, the case was handed over to the High Court, but the appeal was dismissed when neither party attended the hearing.

According to the court’s statement on September 14, the Seoul High Court recently upheld the decision made in the first trial regarding the appeal suit filed by Blockberry Creative and its parent company Polaris Entertainment. They explained, “LOONA’s representative failed to appear more than twice on the court dates for the appeal trial, so we have ruled to dismiss the appeal.”

KCSC fine Produce 101 the max amount totaling to around $100K

Back in August, the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) announced that fines would be imposed on all four seasons of the “Produce 101” series for “an unprecedented level of manipulation.” This is the KCSC’s highest level of sanction possible.

Following the finale of “Produce X 101” in July 2019, the show came under fire for apparent rigging of viewers’ paid votes that determined the final group lineup. An investigation uncovered evidence of vote manipulation in each of the four seasons of the show. The KCSC stated in August, “Not only did they manipulate the results, deceive the viewers, and obstruct fair public perception, but the most serious issue is the betrayal of the hard work of the participants in the audition program.” It was announced at the time that the fine amount would be decided later on.

During a meeting on September 14, the KCSC decided on a fine of 30 million won (approximately $25,400) for each of the seasons of the show (“Produce 101,” “Produce 101 Season 2,” “Produce 48,” and “Produce X 101”), which is the maximum fine that they can impose according to current law. This means a total fine of 120 million won (approximately $101,500) for the series as a whole.

Or as asianjunkie puts it: "So basically the KCSC did all they could, but if $100k doesn’t sound much to a conglomerate with $59 billion in revenue, at least in the sense that it would be deterrent, then you’re absolutely right."

WTF Male staff of Fanatics berates a member for trying to cover up other members' legs during VLIVE

In the video you can see 4 members (Via, Chaelin, Doi, Rayeon) of rookie girlgroup Fanatics chatting and reading comments from fans during a VLIVE. The girls are all wearing short skirts and shorts, sitting down. At the beginning of the VLIVE, the camera is closer to the members so that you could barely see the members legs. Around 8 minutes in, the camera is then pushed back a bit, so that the members' legs were seen more. A person (whose face is not shown but was identified by fans as member Sika) is seen giving two of the members a purple jacket, which they gratefully receive.

Around 13 minutes in, the camera can be seen dipping lower so more of the legs are seen. Sika then gives the other two members a college jacket to cover up their legs with. Right afterwards, a male voice can be heard saying that they were trying to show the members' legs, and called Sika an idiot for trying to cover them. The members shown on camera are clearly uncomfortable and immediately give back the jacket. Then a very clear slap in the background and a more muffled slap are heard.

It feels...light when I'm watching Hye Joon and Jung Ha. I love Hye Joon's mom and grandpa and can somehow see some people being able to relate to Hye Joon's family story. Hae Hyo is sweet guy (so far) and I like his mom and sister (so far). Looking forward to the next episode because of episode 4 ending =)
