Can't believe it's done :( I like how we get a glimpse (maybe?) of their recording/writing process so I'm assuming this is what they're like preparing for BE. The next group rumoured to have In The SOOP is Gfriend then TXT, Seventeen, and NU'EST. I enjoyed this a lot so I'll see if I can purchase the next In The SOOPs as well (if the rumours turn out to be true).

The film "Daemuga" to premiere at BIFF

The multi-genre film "Daemuga," starring Jung Kyung-ho and Park Sung-woong, will have its world premiere at the 25th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), which will run from Oct. 21 to 30.

Cookie Pictures said Thursday the film has been invited to this year's festival in the Open Cinema section. "The film will be screened at the BIFF's outdoor cinema on Oct. 22 and will hit local theaters after that," the production company said.

"Daemuga," a mixed genre of comedy, thriller and drama, is about three shamans ― Seung-joon (Park), Chung-dam (Yang Hyun-min) and Shin-nam (Ryu Gyeong-soo) ― competing to perform an exorcism.

The competition takes a bizarre turn after encountering an event. Jung plays the villain Ik-soo, who is head of a mob.

This will be the feature film debut for director Lee Han-jong. His previous short film "Blues with Me" was invited to several local and international festivals, including the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in 2016.

Teens buy luxury brands to "flex" on social media

"Eighteen-year-old high school student's shopping haul at Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Thom Browne!" "Fifteen-year-old girl unboxing cosmetics from Dior and Prada bags."

These are just two video titles among hundreds posted on YouTube in which teenagers "flex" their newly bought luxury items worth millions of won. Other social media channels such as Instagram or TikTok are also flooded with similar posts.

"Flex," a term widely used among teenagers to boast outwardly about one's extravagant lifestyle by showing off expensive clothing, cars or homes, has settled as a trend. Videos and photos of teens showing off their fashion and beauty products of high-end brands gain thousands of likes.

I wonder if this is a somewhat new thing in Korean social media? I don't follow any Korean influencers so I don't know? I feel like people elsewhere have been putting up luxury hauls on YouTube for a while now.

Flashback Friday

Happy Friday! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back 6 years to the 2nd week in October, 2014. I don’t remember much of this week, maybe you remember more.

#3 Girls’ Generation TTS “Holler”
This is the title track of the trio’s EP of the same name. It would debut at the top spot on the charts. The only thing I really remember from this song was the “Holler Holler” part in the chrous. And Seohyun in the elevator! The only visual I remember from this music video idk wtf. Less than 2 weeks after the song’s release, Girls’ Generation and K-Pop would forever be changed. Was that too dramatic? I literally just finished reading Jessica’s book today lol. See you tomorrow at book club!

"Star Trek" writer releases book about King Sejong the Great

Joe Menosky, a writer who has worked on four TV series of the sci-fi franchise "Star Trek," has released a history fantasy novel titled "King Sejong the Great" that revolves around the fourth king of the 1392-1910 Joseon Kingdom. This is the first time a non-Korean writer has contributed a work of fiction on King Sejong.

Both English-language and Korean-language editions were published on Hangeul Day on Oct. 9, which commemorates the promulgation of Hangeul in 1446.

The story is based on King Sejong, who reigned 1418-1450, and his lifelong mission of inventing Hangeul, the writing system for the Korean language, which eventually promoted the literacy level of the general public.
