If only this was a collab with Rolling Quartz! This version is alright, but I feel like the drums and bass were too quiet? Like Yoo Hee-Yeol's Sketchbook this is great for isolating the live vocals.

Edit: Sorry mods, I accidentally submitted my draft without the 2nd video. I love it when lj crashes right before auto save. It won't happen again.

Spotify and Kakao Settle Licensing Dispute, Music Returning to Platform

AEN20210202001700320_02_i_P4.jpg

Spotify has announced that it has reached an agreement with Kakao Entertainment (previously KakaoM), making their content available on the platform across the globe, including for the first time in South Korea.

The two companies had been in a bitter dispute that saw Kakao — which last month launched a streaming service in Korea — removing the rights to hundreds of songs by its artists from Spotify after the licensing deal between the two companies expired and they failed to agree on new terms. A source tells Variety that the uproar on social media from fans of the label’s artists, which include IU and APink — as well as some artists themselves — led Kakao to return to the negotiating table, with terms not dramatically different from those originally offered. Variety was not immediately able to reach Spotify and Kakao reps for further comment on that information.

“We are pleased that Kakao Entertainment’s content and artists are back on Spotify, allowing our 345M+ global listeners across 170 countries to once again enjoy the music they love,” a Spotify spokesperson said. “Spotify’s mission has always been to connect artists to their fans all over the world and to give listeners access to all of the world’s music. We are delighted that our Korean listeners will now also be able to enjoy this local music alongside our 70 million+ songs and 4 billion+ playlists. We remain committed to making a positive impact on Korea’s music streaming ecosystem through our partnerships with artists, labels, and local rights holders.”

Pyo Ye-jin replaces Lee Na-eun in "Taxi Driver"

Actress Pyo Ye-jin will take over the lead role, previously given to singer and actor Lee Na-eun, in the upcoming TV series "Taxi Driver," according to the SBS Wednesday.

The replacement comes after Lee, a member of the K-pop girl group April, was axed from the series following recent accusations that she and other members ostracized Lee Hyun-joo when she was part of the K-pop group several years ago.

Earlier this month, Na-eun and the other April members came into the spotlight after a person who claimed to be Hyun-joo's brother accused the members online of ostracizing his sister. That, he said, led her to attempt suicide. Hyun-joo eventually left the group in 2016.

How girl group Brave Girls' 2017 song went viral in 2021 thanks to "Millboard" & YouTube

In today's world where social media is omnipresent, random things that fascinate people -- think viral cat videos, TikTok dance challenges, political conspiracies -- tend to go viral with the smallest triggers.

For one K-pop girl group, this happened in an unexpected yet dramatic way. Brave Girls, a once-forgotten name in the competitive industry where so many acts come and go quickly, saw its 2017 song "Rollin'" soar to No. 1 on domestic music streaming charts -- four years after its release.

The ascent was driven by the song's popularity on the so-called Millboard chart, a portmanteau of military and Billboard that refers to popular songs among the country's huge population of conscripted soldiers, and a YouTube channel that highlighted this popularity.
