Here's another 15 company & contestant profiles for JTBC/YG's Mix Nine! As before I'm starting from the bottom of the official instagram and working my way up. For ease, I'm posting them as individual agencies as much as I can, but grouping agencies together where they're all in the same audition group.
In this post we have lots of boy groups, some upcoming girl groups, YG trainees past and present, the RBW horde, and some almost-members of Seventeen. Part 3 will probably be up on Saturday
PART 1 HERE | PART 3 HERE
16. REAL GIRLS PROJECT - YEEUN, YUKIKA, SORI, YOUNGJOO
I'm honestly not sure what company these girls are technically under though the IG post was tagged with 'Mole' where the company name normally goes. 'Real Girls Project' or RGP was formed through an online talent competition, with the twist being that the girls would also have to act in an online drama. 'The Idolmaster' is a fictional series about the group being formed, with the girls all playing dramaticised versions of themselves. The show was based on the Japanese game and webseries of the same name. The only competitor missing from the above video is Youngjoo, who may bring fans of her own as an ex-member of The Seeya and longtime MBK artist. Sori is also a member of Cocosori, the other half of which auditioned for The Unit.
17. CHOEUN - 24K
24K debuted under Choeun in 2012 and it's not been the smoothest ride. They've had a few lineup changes, as well as ex-member Byungho's famous secret-wife-and-child scandal in which he married a woman shortly after debuting and kept her and their child secret from fans for three years. All seven members of 24K (Leader & main vocal Cory/Hong Joohyun, Choi Kisu, Kim Jeonguk, Liang Hui, Lee Changsun, Kim Jinhong, and Shim Hongseob) will be participating, to the relief of 24K fans who had begun to suspect Hui had left since their last comeback. The group has two other members in 'hiatus', Sungoh and Daeil.
18. FM/FLY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT - UPCOMING BOY GROUP M.O.N.T
Fly Music will debut its five-member boy group M.O.N.T next year but they seem to have a fair bit of buzz already, even if it's just from Israeli fans spamming any news about them (the only Israeli connection I could find was that a couple members mentioned Israel on a list of countries they'd like a visit in their official profiles). Fly Music are only sending three members; Bit Saeon (Kim Sangyeon), Roda (Shin Jungmin), and Narachan (Jung Hyunwoo).
19. RBW/RAINBOW BRIDGE WORLD - MIXED TRAINEES + VROMANCE
RBW seem to be throwing everything at the wall and hoping something sticks because they are sending 20 trainees in total - but if they're up to RBW's usual standard, you know that you're getting quality talent. There may also be a strategy in this, even if it's only to send lots of unknown faves to make their more-publically-known representatives stand out. Vromance (Park Janghyun, Park Hyunkyu, Lee Chandong, Lee Hyunsuk) obviously have fans of their own, while Lee Gunmin competed on Produce 101 S2, and hopefully will bring some fans fresh off of that. They also have two ex-YG trainees, Kin Youngjo and Cho Youngsang. The rest of the boys are Moon Junho, Sin Seungji, and Lee Jaejun. The girls are Na Gooeun, Jang Eunseong, Lee Yesol, Park Jieun, Cho Yuri, Kim Seongeun, Kim Youngseo, Seo Jiheun, and Kwon Bokyung, and while RBW had a helping hand in debuting DMW group P.O.P, they have yet to debut a second girl group of their own, so this may be an exciting glimpse into their plans for one.
20. BRAVE ENTERTAINMENT - PARK SOOJIN + FEMALE TRAINEES
(warning: implied suicide)
Brave Entertainment hosts Brave Girls (currently on The Unit), Bigstar. as well as recently-debuted Samuel. They're sending their next generation of girls to Mix Nine as well as long-dungeoned soloist, Park Soojin, who debuted in 2014 and then was barely heard of again. The trainees are Im Hayoung, Lee Hooshin, Choi Bora, Yoo Jinkyung, and Kim Youngeun. They're not the only agency to think of sending some talent to KBS and some talent to JTBC, and we'll find out soon if it pays off for any of them.
21. PAKSAL COMPANY - PPL
PPL debuted under Paksal Company in 2015, and had a similar debut concept to Nine Muses's models-turned-singers debut concept, in that all six of PPL's members are ex-race models. Halfway between an idol group and a dance group like Bambino, they've quietly worked festivals and put out three singles, and also managed to maintain the same lineup (Moon Gakyung, Dahee (Lee Youngjo), A Zi (Oh Jiin), Ahee (Oh Minji), Sola (Im Eunhye), Yujin (Park Youngshin)), which is always a good sign. Their sexier image might be an interesting one to try and express in a show like this.
22. THE JACKIE CHAN GROUP KOREA - JJCC
JJCC have been put through the ringer a bit much for a group with such a huge backer as Jackie Chan, with original member Prince Mak falling victim to the same saesang that ultimately ousted Rania's Alex, and suddenly absorbing two members from disbanded A.T.O before their 'Where You At' promotions, for seemingly no reason. Group eldest E.co is currently in military service, too. They're pulling a Nu'est on Mix Nine with regards to competitors, leaving the maknae in the dorms and sending four out of five members (Simba (Kim Youngjin), Yul (Kim Chanyul), Eddy (Oh Jeongsuk), Zica (Noh Daehwan)) to represent them on the show.
23. YG ENTERTAINMENT - MALE TRAINEES
There can surely be no future problems of bias by YG putting their own trainees on the show! Not at all. They'll be represented by Kim Joonkyu, Choi Hyunseok and Lee Byunggon, who are already very popular with Mix Nine fans. Kim Joonkyu was a child actor, and there are plenty of practise and audition tapes floating around the internet of all three of them.
24. MOSTABLE MUSIC - FEMALE TRAINEES/HIGH COLOR
I've never heard of Mostable Music, and when I google them it just comes up with a bunch of job listings and Mix Nine promo. Regardless, they're the company that's taken in eternal trainee Heo Chanmi (Produce 101, F-ve Dolls, Co-Ed School) and seems to have also taken in the other members of the girl group she was supposed to debut in under Dublekick, 'High Color' (Kim Minkyung, Choi Soojeong, Lee Daae/Dahaen/there's some debate over this). Perhaps it's a subsidiary or partner of Dublekick. The group was billed to be more 'vocals focused' than Dublekick's current idol group, Momoland.
25. CHROME ENTERTAINMENT - BE.A
Chrome Entertainment are sending Be.A, formerly known as K-Much and Gamulchi. They debuted in 2012, lost a member to acting, and reformed as Be.A in 2017 while adding Boys 24 contestant BomB/Park Wooyoung to bring the members (Yang Honggyu, Jung Yeongkyun, Milly/Kim Jaeoh, Ato/Park Sunghyun) up to five. All of the members will be competing, and as they are now Chrome Entertainment's only idol group since Bob Girls and Crayon Pop both disbanded, Chrome probably have a lot of hopes invested in them.
26. UNLEASH ENTERTAINMENT - SHIN + FEMALE TRAINEES
Produce 101 contestant Shin/Ng Sze Kai initially returned to her Hong Kong/Korea group As One before debuting solo earlier this year under UNLSH Entertainment, singing in her native language and promoting in her homeland. UNLSH have other Hong Kong acts under their belt, but appear to be taking the opportunity of signing Shin to try and branch out into the Korean market. The other two trainees competing are Lee Yujin and Jung Yoojung.
27. JYP ENTERTAINMENT - FEMALE TRAINEES
JYP have a good track record with audition/debut shows, perhaps being responsible for helping kick the trend off by creating Sixteen after YG's Who's Next: WIN. They're sending previously-revealed Shin Ryujin and also Ban Sunmin, who was known to be a trainee at JYP but was never much talked about, so her addition here over other better-known trainees is a bit surprising. Hopefully this will help to balance Somi's fame in JYP's next girl group, if they do well.
28. NO COMPANY - BOYS' 24 PARK DOHA
JB & BYKING - KIM DOYOON/YAO MINGMING
A lot of agencies are sending only one trainee, and there are a few individual/no agency trainees, so JTBC seem to be posting those in sets/having them audition in groups. In this post, JTBC reveals that Boys 24 contestant Park Doha will be competing under no agency, as well as predebut Seventeen members Yao Mingming (now in ACEMAX BLACK) and Kim Doyoon under BYKING and JB respectively. All three boys still have interested fans from their previous groups.
29. NEW PLANET - H.U.B'S RUI
H.U.B debuted in February this year under New Planet, and is formed of soloist Watanabe Rui, who had previously debuted in 2016 with 'Exciting', as well as three other members. Despite their lack of popularity at home, overseas fans loved them enough for them to already have a US tour. Just prior to their US tour they added a fifth member, PD101 S1 Lim Hyosun, who you can catch on KBS' The Unit. Rui will be H.U.B's only representation on Mix Nine.
30. MIX IN MEDIA - YONG YONG
Yong Yong (Na Huisoo) seems to come from a dance background, with her instagram and her friends' instagrams including a lot of dance videos. She debuted earlier this year with 'Scribbling', which might seem like a move geared more towards an UPRS4 appearance, but with no new season in sight for the infamous rap competition, Mix Nine may have to do. She has great stage presence and fantastic dance talent, and her style definitely meshes with the YG image.
