Suzy Talks About miss A’s Disbandment

Suzy shared her thoughts on the recent disbandment of her group miss A at a comeback showcase for her new solo mini album.

At the showcase on January 29, Suzy said, “miss A disbanded after seven years of activities.”

She continued, “Like when I released my last solo album, this has been a new challenge and I’m nervous. Compared to when I was promoting with the group, as a solo artist I’m able to show my own colors and do the kind of music that I’d like to do, so I think of it as an opportunity to develop more. That’s why I became more strongly determined.”

She also expressed how sorry she feels to her fans. “I’m very sorry that I wasn’t able to properly tell fans about miss A’s disbandment,” she said. “I think it’s a shame, but I think that we’ll all be able to develop even more while working on our own. I’m supporting them and hoping they do well. I hope you’ll watch over them.”

Suzy released her mini album “Faces of Love” on January 29, featuring the title track “Holiday.

did you guys see that knetz slammed her for not being able to give proper answers at her showcase?

aridnili 30th-Jan-2018 01:27 am (UTC)
Yes. She always had these controversies coming at her. She's not the best speaker, but she always did good as an MC and she improved in acting.

She has always been kind of not an ace in something specific, but she shines the most when singing her emotional songs. And she owns the camera with her charisma and beauty.

People (internationl fans) always downgraded her while in Miss A, but she always gave her very best in performances. And she owned the stage. This is a classic already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi7-7KsnnR0

*Aaaaand for my last edit lol I'm glad she finally talked about this issue. I think they had some bad blood going on for a while, but I think they matured and now just wish the best for the others.

That classic performance highlighted how sexy Jia is to me more than anything else, but it was a really fun performance. I miss Miss A.

Min and Fei were amazing on that stage and Jia's dance was super sexy.

Hush is such a good song :(
donaldjdrumpf 30th-Jan-2018 01:44 am (UTC)
She will never speak to the other girls again lmao

Min, Fei, and Jia were done so dirty by JYP.

It’s really sad how mismanaged Miss A was. They could have been great and the gp was here for them even till the very end no matter how little JYP cared about them. But I also feel like there was other things going on yet anytime anyone tries to have a discussion regarding those issues; people get heated on all sides. Especially a certain members fan base.

Suzy isn’t to blame here but she was clearly favorited by JYP and I think that favoritism was a factor into Miss A’s downfall. There was definitely a lowkey 5H situation going on between the girls as well. Too many rumors and blind items for there to not be some sort of semblance of truth.

I'm a huge Say A. Miss A will always and forever be my fave girl group. And I definitely agree with your assessment of mismanagement ad favoritism and the tensions in the group. JYP should have pushed them as a group more. They should have had concerts and tours. They should have promoted in China (and maybe Japan for that yen). They shouldn't have sacrificed the group just b/c Miss A's mature/sexy concepts didn't match with Suzy's 'Nation's First Love' image. And while I don't think the tensions were ever as bad as people speculated, I do think they were there, at least for a while. Mostly, I think they came from Min, since Jia and Fei got solid work, even though they were never really pushed to the public by JYP, whereas Min faultered after she was no longer kkap Min. (and then of course, once Fei started getting some attention from the public, JYP gave her attention, cause unfortunately, they don't really media play, so they only push the members who already have recognition, but then she shot herself in the foot with that South China Sea post).

basically, ia. Miss A shined so brightly, and if they had been pushed by their company a little more, they could have met with fans and really dominated/been the trendy group of their era.

just to add on, I feel that during Miss A's era, JYPE was really doing badly with their many decisions (see Wonder Girls post-US and Got7 debut year), and that hurt them badly.
I feel like Jia and Fei could have blown up if JYPE did try to promote them properly had they had the resources and manpower, but of course Fei would also have to brush up her Korean (earlier articles/interviews about her seem to have always picked on her speaking vs singing pronunciation?). China promotion was another wasted opportunity as they were the first few groups to have targeted Mandarin speaking audiences with Chinese versions of their singles?! And the fact that they had 2 Chinese members would have helped a lot. I liked the Chinese versions tbh, Min and Suzy sounded great pronouncing the words too.

of course these are all things that we mourn about, and we truly don't know what went on behind too. but as a fan of them it really sucks to see the wasted potential.

i think min was the biggest let down in miss a though, her debut era was okay but afterwards i think she got sick jealous of suzy's success and it showed - she wanted it all but she never got it and jealousy is such an ugly outfit to wear, i really couldn't look at her anymore

People tend to forget Min’s yolo behaviour, mismanagement of her image and racist joke. She’s the same age as me, but she did some very questionable things on and off instagram that I, as an adult, would feel ashamed of. Fei is an unfortunate case, bc she shot herself in the foot high before her solo with that South China Sea post. And this is not a Korea vs China thing, bc she’s just as pretty as Tzuyu, but the last one is adored.
aures 31st-Jan-2018 07:37 am (UTC)
yes definitely, i'm not surprised JYP didn't resign her, i wouldn't have either lol
Fei was just such an unfortunate case indeed, she had so much going for her, she's super pretty and really talented and great fun, she shouldn't have done the south china sea post, i bet she regrets it a lot
rivains 30th-Jan-2018 10:46 pm (UTC)
min is just a dumb ass overall tbh
aures 31st-Jan-2018 07:38 am (UTC)
yup definitely, i do NOT miss her at all and i'm not surprised JYP didn't want to resign her
suggestivepeach 31st-Jan-2018 12:33 am (UTC)

ia with this comment. I think Suzy's popularity was unexpected, and Jyp had to sacrifice the group as a whole in order to maintain that popularity. Miss A was my fave gg for a long while and i can't even look at them now without feeking like they were a wasted opportunity. :(

gathyou 30th-Jan-2018 01:45 pm (UTC)
If only JYP had been able to better promote the group... they should have been so much more. I hope whatever tensions they have behind the scenes have been resolved at least between then and that they don't have too much ill feeling regarding other members (for me the company is more to blame for playing favoritism so much). It doesn't look like Suzy is really in touch with them lol I just hope the parting wasn't too messy.
aures 30th-Jan-2018 02:22 pm (UTC)
well, 7????? no lol
suggestivepeach 31st-Jan-2018 12:40 am (UTC)

I always held out hope that they would have another cb after Only You, even though it was obvious that there was a distinct split within the group. I'm still so sad.
