this was such a disappointing show, given the cast and the hong sisters label and the source material... like it wasn't Bride of Water God level of terrible but it just didn't hit it off the way it was hyped to be.

and wtf is with that ending?????? you wasted 20 episodes just to kill the main girl at the last minute and you end with the main guy on the way to save her but we don't get to see it?? so many episodes and moments with random tangents that could have been cut to give way for an episode to actually tie everything nicely.

The hong sisters lost their touch years ago.

pretty much why a lot of people who watch the show are pissed about. i actually did enjoy the drama but halfway through things start to drag on.

[spoiler] dedicating almost an entire episode to trying to recover SOG's memory and have SJ return to rl was a waste of time. there were too many flashbacks that it could have been a recap episode. still bitter we didn't even get a bit of bu ja back.

What a waste of my time

MTE, I feel scammed and deceived. That ending was just like nonsense and I can’t believe I spent 20 hours of my life for it.

The ending was so bad, but then i should have expected it given that i watched all of Big.

The Hong Sisters have written way more bad dramas than good at this point (at least in recent years). Even their better dramas like Master's Sun etc. were mostly propped up by a strong cast.

I love the original source material, so I kept up with this drama. Overall I liked that it's a fresh spin on Journey to the West, and many of the plotlines take reference from the original source, but I truly hated that the romance was between OG and SJ.

that said, the last episode was terrible, I skipped almost every part except for the MW parts and the Buja parts. They should have stuck to the 19th episode as the last episode, and shorten the 'reunion' to perhaps 2-3 scenes only (bar the bad CGI effects for the final battle too). Of course I did enjoy the show, but it's probably because of the source material and the gang's banter.

I like Ma Wang's parts but hate SJ & OG scenes with a passion.

I'm always rme and skipping their scenes together. I'm not here for the "Do you love me? Do you think I'm beautiful?", "You're even more beautiful now" bullshit.

But yea the last episode was unbearable. I'm still watching in parts.
