Jeon Somi reportedly signs contract with YGE sub-label The Black Label

Jeon Somi may have found her new agency!

On September 23, Sports Chosun exclusively reported that Jeon Somi has signed a contract with The Black Label.

The Black Label is a subsidiary label of YG Entertainment headed by Teddy, working with artists like singer Zion.T and rapper and producer Kush. The Black Label is based in an independent space located near the YG Entertainment building, and has been receiving the full support of YG Entertainment to work with trainees and try out various music genres.

The Black Label was contacted to confirm the reports, but a source from the agency simply stated, “We are currently in the process of checking the facts.”

Jeon Somi appeared in survival programs “Sixteen” and “Produce 101,” where she won first place in the finale and made her debut in the project group I.O.I. Since then, she has been pursuing activities under JYP Entertainment, until it was announced in August that she had terminated her contract with the agency.

So it looks like nothing has been confirmed yet but thoughts, Omona?

Her career "receiving attention" in YG is weird to me but okay I guess.

YG supposedly having beef with JYP for the latter surpassing 1 trillion is the one bit that didn't surprise me. It seems like YG always has beef with someone idk idk

He has beef with anyone that bruises his fragile ego and jyp surpassing 1 trillion for sure hurt yg in some way lol

JYP snatched him the "next SNSD" thing with Twice, BH snatched him whatever he thought Ikon gonna be with BTS - before YHS even became aware what is actually happening the competition was over lol, Mnet snatched him the survival shows crown - last few years he keeps taking those Ls and I hope it keeps making us closer and closer to the end of his reign lol

I wish we were close to the end of his reign but he loves that spotlight too much to take a backseat in his company ala jyp :( lol I love that jyp (although his cult ass ain’t that better) knocked yg and sm down a few pegs in the gg department tbh

I hoped the bruised egos would finally force sm to treat their ggs with some basic respect and yg to give bp more than one comeback a year but looks like neither is happening lol

Everything you said perfectly sums up why YG is not happy. Everything that he thought should've been his went somewhere else. If he released more quality songs for BP, had better comebacks for iKon and Winner, did not do dirty reality shows...he would be in a better position.

The frustrating thing is, he still has a chance to make a huge international impact with BP if promotes them better. But he's too misogynistic to do that...by the time BP has a full album and an international tour, I bet another trendy gg will have snatched away their fanbase.

You're right on the money. If Ikon were promoted more heavily in their first 2 years I can't help but wonder what BTS' fanbase would be like now.

And I don't care for Ikon at all, but you can see the similarities/influence of Big Bang on BTS. They're the sort of group YG would've created as a successor to BB if he were smart.
