Cre.Ker Entertainment Responds To Controversy Surrounding The Boyz Members New And Sunwoo

Korean fans have posted a statement demanding Cre.Ker Entertainment remove New and Sunwoo from The Boyz, spurred by the controversy born from misogynistic social media posts allegedly made by The Boyz’s Sunwoo.

In a statement posted on September 27 to a Korean online forum for The Boyz, fans cited past, misogynistic social media posts as well as rude behavior to fans by the two members:

In the past, the two members in question made inappropriate posts on their [social media], ridiculing women. As members of the Boyz, who receive so much interest and support from a largely female fandom, this cannot be seen as appropriate behavior… Moreover, when the controversy about the posts first arose in the online community, the fans clearly notified the agency as well as the members that this could become an issue. However, both Cre.ker and the two members reacted complacently, and it has developed into a situation that is greatly affecting The Boyz’s image.

The two members in question, in a V Live broadcast viewed by fans all over the world, displayed high-handed behavior toward the other members of The Boyz, appearing to disregard them. As a result, the fans who were watching felt unease. Moreover, in the same broadcast, New claimed that he didn’t remember any of the V Live broadcasts that the group did from five months before the group’s debut. … With this, he greatly disappointed the fans. Apart from the broadcast mentioned above, the two members have a history of disappointing their fans, and the fans have expressed this concern several times.

Topstarnews, which cites their source as a screen capture from Sunwoo’s social media, posted an image of the misogynistic posts in question:

Under a question that says, “If you could have a pet abroad, what do you want to have?” the answer, allegedly written by Sunwoo, states, “A foreign woman [laughter].” Similarly, the second post asks, “What kind of pet do you want to raise?” and the answer says, “A woman [laughter].

In response to the fan statement, Cre.Ker Entertainment responded with an apology.

Here is Cre.Ker’s full statement, which was posted to The Boyz’s official fan cafe:

“Hello. This is Cre.Ker Entertainment.

“First, thank you again to all of the fans who care for The Boyz.

“With a heavy heart, we are aware of the matters that fans are concerned about regarding The Boyz.

“Through continuous conversation, we are intensively and thoroughly looking into the criticisms from the fans, and we are deliberating on how we can fill in the holes where we are lacking.

“In addition, we bow our heads in apology to everyone who felt discomfort for our inability to recognize the issue before fans voiced their concerns.

“We respectfully ask that people refrain from false, overblown criticisms that are born from exaggerated rumors.

“We will do everything we can in the future so that something like this doesn’t happen again. Thank you.”

Mods, I'm currently at work, so I will upload the photos officially once I get home. Thank you!

Lol, so the agency has no plans to do anything and just wants this to all blow over. Ah-huh. Honestly, if the two guys in question aren't gonna apologize and do better, just kick them out. Otherwise, fans will tear the group apart. Like, they've already started with this article, which I'm sure was only written cause a fan sent the evidence to a journalist, cause it's not like anybody's checking for this group. I don't think they're popular enough to have antis.
torontok 28th-Sep-2018 03:42 am (UTC)
They're one of the most popular rookie groups in Korea this year and one of their members is Ju Haknyeon who was the unofficial villain of Produce 101 season 2 so they absolutely have a shit ton of antis. Not for this incident in particular but Pann has a huge hate boner for them.

Aka they aren't going to do nadda and are just going to sweep it under the rug, since they knew about it and said nothing. Honestly, those answers are super gross and make my skin crawl. Who says something like that

Weird, they don't deny it specifically or say they're gonna sue for defamation or anything... =-=

"We respectfully ask that people refrain from false, overblown criticisms that are born from exaggerated rumors" is so... roundabout... I mean, kpop companies... like to deny even things that obviously true. :x

meeh .... the usual non-apology from male idols
"sorry that i got caught acting like an asshole oops, make sure to forget this whole mess before our next comeback"

Jfc I thought this was about new and sunwoo "bullying" haknyeon. Their fans are hiding the misogynistic comments really well.
Anyways I'm not surprised, all those groups that claim to be woke are always the worst
jyusou 28th-Sep-2018 03:17 am (UTC)
Those comments are so fucking gross. The criticism isn’t overblown. If they can’t even realize this is wrong and think to apologise from the get-go then tough. Stay nugu, go get a normal job or something. There are people out there more deserving of fame.

There hasn't yet been any concrete evidence linking this to ask.fm account to Sunwoo given that the username is cropped out but I'm keeping an eye on this because those comments are unacceptable, regardless of whether he was 14 when he made them and Cre.Ker absolutely needs to have him apologize if he did do this. New had nothing to do with them and has never disrespected fans or bullied other members. He's being dragged into this because of an ask.fm post in 2015 where someone called him ugly and he told them to fuck off.

The pann account that spread this entire mess was claiming to be a Haknyeon fan but then started posting pictures of Haknyeon eating with a woman claiming he was underage drinking/dating. This whole mess started due to them taking a vlive out of context to accuse New and Sunwoo of bullying Haknyeon out of jealousy which escalated into accusing them of dating/drinking/etc. So far the only claim from this mess that is serious and in need of addressing is the ask.fm screencaps.

Also this statement isn't an official fandom thing but the result of akgaes mass spamming. Most of their k-fandom is united rn.

I don't follow the band, but stuff like ask.fm can be so easily faked...and I heard that there is some trouble with akgae fans...so I'm gonna take this with a spoon of salt.

It's both sad and great I knew what the Korean screenshot was saying before reading the translation.

For real tho, those comments/answers are gross, regardless of whether they made those comments or not. And yet again a non-apology apology. If it doesn't turn out to be them then well and good, but if it turns out to be them then own up and apologise properly.
