CLC’s Elkie Announces Plans To Release First Solo Single

CLC’s Elkie is set to showcase her talents as a solo artist!

On November 20, it was reported that the CLC member will be releasing her first solo digital single album on November 23. Cube Entertainment confirmed the news and stated that she is currently busy wrapping up preparations for the single album.

CLC made their debut in March 2015, and Elkie and Kwon Eun Bin joined the group in 2016. They have received love from their fans through album releases like “CRYSTLE,” “FREE’SM,” “To the sky,” and most recently, “Black Dress.” Elkie recently appeared in the MBC drama “The Rich Son,” where she played the role of Mong Mong.

Are you excited for Elkie’s upcoming solo release?

Looking forward to this!
Hopefully this will bring some attention to CLC, and they can have a good early 2019 comeback :')

I feel its odd she's getting a solo so soon, considering she's a new member... Like why not have the main vocal do some OSTs first or something?

Or if she must, why not have Elkie promote in China, then bring back the popularity to Korea?

I feel she might get buried among the other acts if she goes solo now.

Elkie is from Hong Kong though, not China. That distinction is probably why they don’t have her promoting in China the same way that pristin’s kyulkyung and wjsn’s China line do. It would be like JYPE having twice’s tzuyu promote in China and the Taiwanese flag incident was bad enough already.

Elkie's situation is different from kyulkyung or Cheng Xiao but it can't be compared to Tzuyu at all

Jackson promotes in China and he's from Hong Kong.

as long as elkie doesn't say anything about hong kong being separate from china she should be fine. i'm sure tzuyu would have had a different presence in china if the flag thing never happened

I'm happy for her! She has a star quality I appreciate and is super cute!

Would prefer a solo from one of the other girls, but Elkie has been surpisingly popular im so good for her. If it's a bop I'll stan.

I'm excites! She's a born star and is really talented. I'm a little miffed at how suddenly this has been announced so I've got my expectations low for how it'll do though.

I hope Seungyeon is next!

Not the member I thought would go solo. Can she sing?
myungung 20th-Nov-2018 01:14 pm (UTC)
I don't think she's part of the vocal line, but she's pretty and popular so it makes sense for Cube to try to push her.

imo elkie's strong point in singing is her stability during live performances. she's improved a lot from her predebut/debut period but her vocal tone(?) is quite thin so it sometimes sounds like she's straining even when she's not. she has quite a lot of lines for not being a main vocal in clc and even had an adlib during no oh oh and in quite a lot of their b-sides so i would consider her as part of the vocal line.

apart from seunghee, i think she has the most stable live vocals.

here's a few of her solos/ost:

/tl;dr from an elkie/clc stan lmao

she has a very sweet voice, not super powerful but i've heard worse in kpop. i mean if hara can debut solo....

Yes!!!!! She’s probably my fave in CLC and I really like her voice so I’m not complaining. Still waiting for CLC to hit it big tbh.

Now that Hyuna and Triple H (possibly Pentagon in some respects too) is gone, Cube will be looking to fill that money gap. Hopefully that means it's CLC's time to shine.
