YG Ent using YT's copyright system to take down videos criticizing Jennie's lackluster performances

source: K-Vids, CronoDroid on r/kpop

Criticism on YG and Jennie is valid, hate towards her not. Stay on the right side Omona!

Jessica was also notoriously lazy on stage but I never saw anyone complain about that so idk why Jennie is being targeted. Cause she's now solo, I guess?

I watched a few of these video's and the comments were negl. Sexism at its finest, kpop fans being transparently biased as always.

Jessica, Sulli, Yeri etc. all got heavily criticized....i think it might seem bigger with Jennie now because K-POP got a lot bigger since then?

...Either that got lost in translation or my memory is majorly faulty because I don't remember any criticism towards those people. I do recall Jessica's lazyness becoming a running joke amonst Sones along the lines of 'Oh she's just being herself rofl'

I dont follow Jennie or BP but theres a difference between an idol many years into their career and one only 2yrs already showing laziness

I mean....issues regarding Sica having lackluster performances started even as far back as Genie promotions tbh and that was 2 years into SNSD's career. That being said they were hated on for absolutely everything during that time period but I think its still a thought

(for the record, I had no qualms about her performances but I definitely remember seeing criticism)

What difference would that be in your opinion? Considering every idol has a job of performing on stage, I don't see why we would expect different things from a rookie or from a senior in the business. Imo, the way we judge Jessica and Jennie's 'lazyness' in different ways indicates that the problem isn't so much their actual performances but the standards we uphold them to.

From what I read people have been harder on jennie because YG has been showing favoritism toward her and fans of the other members are miffed because she still dgaf while getting special treatment while the other members try their best during performances and are put on the back burner.

Which is true tbh criticism toward jennie's performances are 100% valid and she needs to get her shit together but there have been bandwagon haters that have been chiming in and using this opportunity to attack her when they arent even fans/dgaf otherwise

All of this is 100% interpretation by fans though. All of it. I agree that YG is one of the biggest diseases in Kpop but this kind of 'Uhm she's getting treated better than [insert own fave]' infighting is typical bull in most Kpop fandoms. Usually used more to legitimate hatred of certain members of groups rather than being based on... actual facts, whatever that might be even be.

there is obvious favoritism at play though that cant be denied from the solo before group comeback, to the outfits etc. its not probably to the extent fans are making it,but it still exists.

indeed, we never see fangirls willing to make one of this videos about oppa ... no, oppa never does no wrong

its so easy to find fan videos about everything wrong with female idols but nobody dares to say a thing about male idols
juhli 30th-Nov-2018 12:11 am (UTC)
I made the experience that "attitude controversies" happen to both female and male idols. If they are warranted or not is another thing.

The channel that posted the Jennie vid does vids on all controversies. When you google "attitude controversy", you get results for both female and male idols.

I do think that female idols get much harsher criticism though... like all that hate whenever a female idol supports feminism.

never see fangirls willing to make one of this videos about oppa
Neither do fangirls make those vids about their 'unnies' or fanboys about their biases...idg the point.

that's fine , i kinda dont care if you dont get my point .... i already saw your other replies in this post, you won't get it :)

Yes, definitely. Female idols are constantly scrutinized in regards to their attitudes on stage, television and in their sns activities.

A woman could not smile enough and be demonised endlessly, meanwhile you've got male idols with multiple dui's/accusations of sexual misconduct and everyone is like.... let's get boo another sales record shall we??? We're all guilty of being biased against women in a certain way, but I find it very sad to see Western Kpop fandoms (who are pretending to be so 'woke') indulging in similair behaviour as Korean audiences do.

they kicked jessica of snsd and one of the reasons they gave was "because she was lazy" and putting energy on her brand and not the performances, it was like a thing
