Yes, Korea is a more conservative country that still has a long way to go in terms of LGBT rights. The target audience for kpop groups is young kids/teens, who a lot of them are into real person shipping. Companies and idols are aware of this and they play it up for profit. However, a lot of the shippers aren't actually supportive of real LGBT relationships but rather they fetishize gay relationships and think of it as a fantasy.

And that's exactly why I'm suffering from serious cognitive dissonance on this. How can they fetishize it and at the same time be against it?? (and don't get me started on fetishizing real people)
