Kwangjin leaves N.Flying, confirmed to have dated fan (sexual harassment claims supposedly untrue)

(follow-up to this post)

Kwon Kwang Jin will be leaving N.Flying.

Last week, fans demanded for the bassist to leave the group following various accusations including those of him dating fans, making sexually offensive comments to fans, and speaking ill of his members.

Following the accusations, FNC Entertainment released a statement saying that the accusations are not true but that he did interact with fans outside of schedules. As a result, it was announced that he would halt activities.

On December 26, a new statement was revealed announcing his permanent departure from the group.

The statement reads as follows:

Hello, this is FNC Entertainment.

In order to share the exact truth to fans regarding Kwon Kwang Jin, who recently expressed his wish to leave, and take appropriate action, we put in effort to find out the truth through several additional meetings with him.

As a result, we additionally confirmed the fact of him dating a fan, so we have made the final decision for Kwon Kwang Jin to leave the team.

However, he is strongly denying accusations of sexual harassment, and legal action is being taken against the netizen who uploaded this post for defamation by the spread of false information, so the truth will be determined.

We feel regretful for causing trouble to fans with an unfortunate incident, and we will be more attentive so that such an incident does not occur again.

N.Flying will continue with unchanging activities as four members and promises with fans to show more maturity and better music.

They already started teasing their next song as four members recently

imo if you have no issue dating a fan with that inherent power balance, you're more than likely guilty of sexual harrassment. They'd sue for defamation whether it was true or not because of SK's libel laws so the agency saying 'that's not true' absolutely doesn't convince me at all.

Yup. The fact that they're suing just makes it seem even more likely to be true, I can't imagine what their own fans would have to gain from falsely accusing him especially since they must know about these horrible libel laws and the risks that come with doing something like this. He ruined his image all by himself anyway, it's like they just want to send a message showing fans what will happen if they try to come forward about harassment without having "perfect" evidence of it. It's such a shitty intimidation tactic.

His face looks like that of a deceptively handsome villain. Like you know he’s objectively handsome but there’s an air of untrustworthiness about it you can’t really explain.

he looks like he got too much PS imo

i got curious when i read your comment, so i went to look up some more pictures of him and hoooo boy. you're not wrong.

This. There's something about him it always rubbed me the wrong way, even though I'm only a casual fan of the band. They're better off without him

i went to look up some more pictures and it only reinforces the "there's something off about this dude" vibe i get from him. especially when i look at picture of him smiling with teeth.

I commented this in the original post about this case and it's just such a weird vibe. Something is so off about his face and his expressions (not even in a plastic surgery kind of way, more in a this dude is trying and failing to come across as a natural human being kind of way) and it has been that way since his pre-debut CNBlue days, but it's really hard to put into words what exactly it is and felt inappropriate to do so before this mess came out.

I agree; even though it’s part of the idol job to put up a front, there was definitely something off about his. Fun fact, I was trying to figure out who his strange vibe reminded me of, and I’ve finally figured it out: Tom Hiddleston. It’s an unpopular opinion, but I find him incredibly fake and pretentious in nearly all of the interviews and appearances I’ve seen him in. Disclaimer: if you like the guy I’m terribly sorry and please feel free to convince me otherwise if you think I’ve got the wrong idea.

I know nothing about Tom Hiddleston so I won't argue you on it! It's not surprising and almost scarier with actors because it's literally their job to make everyone believe they're different people, so you never know who might be genuine and who is just really good at playing the general public. It's true that at least with K-pop the fact that they're playing a part even when they're not performing is kind of a given.

Wonder if N.Flying will get a new bassist now?

In a culture where the fans have entitlement, it’s a real bad idea to date a fan. Not to mention the power imbalance that’s implicated.
