Running Man is getting a Vietnamese Version
The Vietnamese version of “Running Man” will begin filming in Vietnam at the end of January. The show is scheduled to broadcast on HTV7, Vietnam’s terrestrial TV channel with the highest viewership ratings, starting April 6, and the show will air every Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ICT.
The stellar cast consists of popular actor Tran Thanh, who is the husband of Vietnam’s top star and Vietnamese-Korean singer Hari Won, actor and singer Ngo Kien Huy, actress Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc, actor and singer Jun Pham, comedian BB Tran, actor and singer Truong The Vinh, and actor Lien Binh Phat. The casting news has garnered a lot of attention from the public as these top celebrities have all been acknowledged as some of the most popular stars in their respective fields.
Recently, SBS was greatly welcomed by Vietnam for being the sole terrestrial TV channel to broadcast the AFF Championship finals during their main broadcasting schedule time, and SBS officially asked head coach Park Hang Seo, who contributed to Vietnam’s recent soccer achievements, to make an official appearance as a special guest. It’s likely that he will fulfill this request after the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
Using the production experience from the Chinese version of “Running Man,” which already has recorded high viewership ratings, as an example, the Vietnamese version of “Running Man” is aiming to produce a customized, high-quality program that will collaborate with the original Korean “Running Man” production staff in a manner that brings out the best in each production.
SBS’s Choi So Hyung PD who is in charge of directing said, “Vietnamese viewers really enjoy Korean variety programs. We hope to capture their hearts by producing a charming ‘Running Man’ that meets that expectation.” Choi So Hyun PD is a veteran PD who’s not only directed Korea’s “Running Man,” but also participated in the co-production of the Chinese version of “Running Man.”
Vietnam’s co-production company Lime Entertainment’s representative Yoon Sang Seob said, “We’ve previously worked with SBS to make the variety program ‘Oh! My Baby’ a success, building local know-how in the process. We will do our best with the Korean production staff to make ‘Running Man’ also a success.”
For the production of “Running Man,” leading Korean companies that have entered the Vietnamese market will participate as sponsors. Related officials are expecting to produce success by naturally introducing their company products and brand through localized Hallyu content.
