Does anyone have a place of origin for the name Heuningkai? Also, is it me, or does he look like he's 12? Also also, all of these videos ave a bit of a lonely undertone to them...

He's apparently born in 2002 so yeah he's young. Def the same age as NCT's Jisung. And he's apparently Korean-Brazilian but I'm not taking it seriously until official info on the kid comes out ig.

twitter is saying he's either half-brazillian, hawaiian, chinese or german

twitter is also saying he's the youngest so him possibly being 12 is probably like... not far off

(ofc this is twitter talking so none of this could be right lol)

Adorable. So this will be the new nation dongsaengs, right? I love the little music and the yellow sunshine vibe from this one. I wonder where BH is going with that thematic of solitude. It's been done countless times so it's a bit risky.

I've only ever paid attention to exo's debut countdown and I wasn't really active online back then (not that I'm really active now either) but watching the speed that people gather information on these kids is both impressive and just a bit terrifying.

I imagine it's mostly friends and classmates sharing the info, but it's still...

i wasn't really following the introductions of txt but i saw screencaps of his video and wow the aesthetics were gorgeous, had to catch up on them - the videos are all really gorgeously made! also kudos to bighit for putting in credits bc i love seeing who directed/produced/art directed mvs like this.

BTS debut vs TXT debut

he was born the same year as my younger brother and i hate it

For real. I'm loving the "the privilege TXT is having by debuting beautifully" memes tbh
jaelissi 15th-Jan-2019 07:20 pm (UTC)
Same. I'm like offended by his youth

This video is my favorite so far. I already forgot other two members faces but huening kai’s face is different and memorable.

Yeah they all have a pretty similar image so far, compared to BTS at their debut. I think it's an attempt to be as public friendly as possible. BH knew all eyes would be on them right now, so debuting a BTS clone or members who would get made fun of for their looks could have been bad for them. It's a smart move imo.

I think BH's strategy here might be genius. So far these teasers seem to have bright, pleasant aesthetics with styling that's somewhere between flower boy and school-aged boy, which is so different from what BTS has done recently. BH is purposely trying to distinguish them from BTS, and also trying to go for the public's jugular at the same time. With W1 disbanding, I think if their debut song is good they could be really big with the general public. Kinda like rookie-era Shinee or DBSK. I wouldn't be surprised if they get a super cute song like Noona You're So Pretty or Hug.

Sidenote, but I'm not gonna comment on these boys looks bc they're all underage or barely legal. I feel like ifans are starting to normalize discussing children's looks because some kfans do it and it really bothers me. Saw it on a recent NB article about Wonyoung from IZONE too and it's creeping me out. A bunch of adults talking about whether children are pretty or handsome and have "good bodies" will never not be fucked up.

I think that strategy could backfire in a major way. Their base and the people they're getting any sort of interest from are BTS fans, not the general public. And BTS fans overwhelmingly detest cutesy songs. What I see them doing is pressing reset on Bangtan's trajectory. People forget that besides their "tryhard" image, they had a very youthful message: follow your dreams, be yourself, school isn't everything etc. As they've been getting older, they've been giving us increasingly mature versions of that.

These teasers are pretty playful and youthful, but they have moments where the facade drops and there's some deeper emotion there. The last one is literally singing "chasing highs to escape my lows". I might be wrong, but...
