EXID's contracts are expiring in May, renewal discussions are in Jan/Feb (also comeback in Feb!!)

On January 17, several music industry representatives stated that the contracts of EXID members are expiring soon, with a first contract expiring in February. While the expiration date for each member’s contract varies, all the members need to decide whether they want to renew their contracts before this year.

They further stated that the members are reportedly considering to walk separate paths, and there are already a few members who have contacted other agencies.

In response, Banana Culture clarified through an official statement, “EXID is contracted to work with us until May of 2019, and they have a Japanese tour scheduled for February. They are also preparing to release a studio album after the tour.”

The company continued, “EXID plans to complete all scheduled events before their contracts expire, and each member will come in for a thorough individual discussion regarding contract renewals either at the end of January or sometime in February.”

Hopefully they will stick together, be it in Banana or somewhere else. I love them so much as a group!

It'd be surprising if they had a tour, a comeback and then leave the company
lil_poisonfrog 18th-Jan-2019 08:34 am (UTC)
Right? If they're profitable enough to do that why wouldn't BC be eager to keep them. Usually groups who disband after their initial contracts are up aren't very active in the few months prior.

i have NO idea what they are going to do, they have only recently said that they want to stay/be together as a group, so i can't see them disbanding, but will they stay with Banana or go elsewhere? i have no idea~ i love them tons as a group, so i hope they will be fine

I loveeeee Exid but I have a feeling they’re going to pull a Sistar :( I know they’ve said they want to remain a group, hopefully that means they renew or their time at Banana could end but they’d go to another company.

We’ll have to see what happens, I’ve just been burned too many times 😣 (as a 4minute songs plays as I literally write this lmao the timing) even if they signed a short extension contract for 2 more years I’d be so thankful. I just want my girls to be happy though, that’s all that matters in the end!

Mte, I hope they consider staying as a a group a little bit longer, if only because Solji just made it back to the group :((
dior_chic 17th-Jan-2019 01:58 pm (UTC)
Seriously!! I’m glad we’re getting a comeback for sure before contracts expire but we waited so long for Solji to comeback :((( also not blaming her at for health issues out of her control, Just want ot5 as long as possible!
myungung 17th-Jan-2019 01:37 pm (UTC)
yea I do hope it's a short contract also, because I do want the girls to spend some time promoting as 5 again, but I also know that they're probably jaded of idol life and it'll be worse if they sign a long contract
dior_chic 17th-Jan-2019 01:56 pm (UTC)
Yea I remember reading about Hyelin losing hair and I’ve seen Hani lose a lot of weight for promotions, I imagine most of them are tired of the idol machine and I’m not faulting them for wanting to move on if they chose to :(

aaaah, exid is my all time fave gg so I seriously hope they stick together but also, idk. so many gg that I though would stick together didn't so I don't want any disappointment. but also like I said, my fave gg. solji just got back with the rest of the girls!! this cant be the end of them!! id be so heartbroken </3
gathyou 17th-Jan-2019 01:42 pm (UTC)
Oh :( I'm still hoping that they can pull a Brown Eyed Girls and stay together with some comebacks here and there despite signing to different agencies.
At least we're getting another promotion round before the contracts expire :(

They really could be the next Brown Eyed Girls, I’d be so happy

Exid are my ults so I hope they don’t disband. My interest in kpop would wan if they left but I wanna support them either way :(

I hope they stay together, if only because they've hit a good stride and are doing well as a group, but if they end it'll be on a high note
goshipgurl 17th-Jan-2019 02:58 pm (UTC)
this doesn't look too good... i guess they'll pull a sistar with their final release
evilcoc0nut 17th-Jan-2019 03:12 pm (UTC)
Ugh no I don't want them to disband. :(
myrrhcat 17th-Jan-2019 03:56 pm (UTC)
i'm not worried. they have a strong group bond, bc seems like a great company, and they'd almost certainly be able to continue as a group even if they went to different agencies.
sacryde 17th-Jan-2019 04:05 pm (UTC)
I know that the girls have had complaints about BC in the past, so I'm really hoping that they pull a Highlight and leave together.
cxxl 17th-Jan-2019 04:26 pm (UTC)
I’m hoping they don’t disband, but if they do... Then it is what it is.
If they stay together I don’t see them going too much longer though. 2-3 years and most of that will be setting up post group efforts.

T-T All the non cutesy girl groups are leaving
lizanka23 18th-Jan-2019 04:30 pm (UTC)
not true. loona and red velvet do a mix of cutesy and serious/mysterious. also apink doesn't do cutesy anymore. then there is also mamamoo, dreamcatcher, blackpink, g(idle) and brown eyed girls

Idk how to feel about this tbh...it'd be great if they kept going for a few more years or did something similar to BEG, but if they public isn't interested in them it'd be awkward to see them limp along on life support for a small number of fans rather than move on to something else. Their last couple comebacks didn't exactly do very well. Maybe they could make some decent money touring internationally, idk.

As much as I hate seeing older ggs disbanding, I think ifans need to realize how spoiled we are with Kpop in general. It's super rare for a pop group to last 7 years in western countries...hell even 5 years is impressive. Even a group like BSB that still tours had a very short "peak" period of relevancy. I guess this is an advantage as a multifan of not getting too hung up on one group. And yeah, it's not exactly fair popular boy groups can last longer, but then again, I don't think a lot of idols are interested in continuing the lifestyle into their 30s given how youth-oriented K-pop is.

Now, I definitely think successful groups should go out with a "bang" of some sort, even if it's just a final comeback like Sistar had. If the group was profitable enough to last 7 years, there's no reason they shouldn't get to properly say goodbye to fans. Maybe that's what BC is up to with these final activities scheduled, idk.
lizanka23 18th-Jan-2019 06:52 pm (UTC)
i don't know. spice girls are still doing reunion tours, so it might make sense to continue promoting to secure the name and status so then they can make a living off of their reputation later
lizanka23 18th-Jan-2019 06:59 pm (UTC)
i wish they could stay together for longer but they might have to do a music or image revamp like apink because theyve been doing similiar stuff for a while now
yxerin 21st-Jan-2019 09:14 am (UTC)
i got the impression that they were the type of group that would stick together, but i guess there’s a lot we don’t know about under the surface. if it makes them happy then it’s for the best
