this was really cute. Taegi are adorable. Yoongi seemed really happy on his birthday overall, with all the updates and selcas...cute.

that one critic "randomly" sharing his interview with Yoongi where he said all the members support the line distribution even if someone doesn't get much to do, combined with Jimin's similar statement in Namjoon's last vlive however makes me....not anticipate this comeback. Is Taehyung ever gonna have lines again? His solo music just doesn't cut it for me with that airy style, I need him to sing on BTS songs. Alas. Doesn't seem like it'll happen at this point.

I don't get why Bighit keeps not understanding that if they just threw fans a bone with B-sides here and there where other members get good parts they could avoid a lot of the fuss that is made every time. But I really do think they just don't like some of the vocals and are unwilling to compromise their vision for them.

their line distribution really is terrible, like i don't think it's possible for everyone to have an equal number of parts but i remember some songs where someone would actually have 0 lines lol
and i don't see the other members (or atleast the 3 that are coming to mind when it comes to barely having lines) actually complaining about it, so maybe that can count as "support" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

yeah, like 0 lines (or half a line, shared with someone else) is kinda insulting if you think about it. And at the very least, then try to make sure those members get some more spotlight in other songs, but instead it's then considered good if they at least get two lines in there (hey, it's more than zero I guess).

the members who have said something about their fair and supportive line distribution were all members who typically aren't left out, so. Would be interested to see Tae or Jin or Hoseok say something about this. Might toe the company line too, but I don't think they're really that cool with being nowhere on the music. Can't imagine you feel like a valued member there, especially when you've made your interest in being a singer/rapper and being part of the creative process clear.

Oh boy, same, line distribution in BTS songs really is something, huh. As someone who loves Jin and his voice I keep getting disappointed by the lack of lines he has (so I can relate to Taehyung fans) ... I mean it depends on the song, sometimes he gets good lines, sometimes he doesn't, but .. still. There is no guarantee he'll have lines unlike some other members.

Blood Sweat & Tears could deadass be in my top 10 BTS songs but I'm so salty over Jin's lack of lines that I can't fully appreciate the song all the time ...

yeah, pretty much. idk how many songs on the last albums I listened to and went...wait did Tae and Jin even sing? even if they did, their vocals were mixed with layers of Jimin's or JK's voices. That felt downright disrespectful to me.

their line distribution looks like if their vocalist quartet were EXO's Chen & Baek plus Sehun & Kai, when in reality what they have is like 4 Suhos.

I swear they keep shafting Tae because his voice is so different compared to everyone else's. Honestly, it's kind of baffling how alike Jin, JK and Jimin can sound, you can literally replace one voice with another at times and you won't really hear a difference. They tend to try and make Tae's voice match theirs which is a little tricky and then he ends up singing with that weird airy tone. But they need to lower the pitch on a lot of their songs because the vocal strain is quite obvious when the song is out of their ranges. It might make more sense for them to use the other vocals to compliments Tae's voice instead of the other way around, that way it would sound less jarring.

The line distribution needs so much work. You would think that this would improve over the years but I swear it seems to get worse. Honestly though, I don't really understand why they give certain lines to some members either. Take Fake Love for example, they should have kept the "love you so bad" part with Tae and JK only instead of swapping out Tae with Jimin the second time around. Jimin already gets majority of the lines in the song so he didn't need to add that part too. I appreciate that they switched up the line distribution for the live versions of Idol, Best of Me and Spring Day, but if you have to go through the hassle of switching it then why didn't you record it like that in the first place? >_>

they really need to lower the pitch (and yet. they don't. Jimin, in the last vlive: SO WE WENT UP IN PITCH AGAIN, IT WAS SO HARD, please look forward. Me: NOOOOOO)

nobody sounds good on those struggle notes. Not even the tenors.
yeah Tae sounds different and they don't know what to do with him. Never have, never will, apparently. He gets a low intro line and they call it a day nowadays. And totally agree that they should have kept him on the love you so bad part for the 2nd time too, the contrast between his and JK's voice was good for that part, but....yeah.

and yes, the live versions with switched distributions sound good too, just record the song like that. Having somebody barely on the song is indefensible to me. Their songs are like 5 minutes long, surely they can accommodate 7 people. Or they could if two or three members didn't do 4 out of those 5 minutes I guess.

Yeah I hate to be comparing them like this but based on a total of 3 idol groups I’ve stanned, jk jm and jin’s voices are all of a ‘weaker’ tone. I don’t know the right terminology but it just sounds not as fullbodied (and the pitch is high). In exo the vocal that I think is most like their voices is Luhan. V is a slightly deeper version of baekhyun and DO’s. Luhan’s voice was ok at his lines but feels like it’s missing something. He works better as harmony and that kind of soft voice blends really well with a main voice that is stronger. The other group I liked was also in a similar situation, the best vocal was a soft voice and he sang main lines but also harmony and also blended well with the other vocal with a stronger voice. With BTS I feel like it’s because they have way too many of these soft voices? So it does sound weird when V sings and one of the other three sing. Unless they can get V to sing throughout the song. Unfortunately they’re really biased against V and for the high notes which I don’t get at all. (And yup I also don’t get why jm has so many lines esp considering his vocal technique)

So much salt for a post about a birthday vlive. I'd save my braincells from analysis for the moment they actually release something.
